Voted yes. I believe this run is very close to perfect. I noticed you pressing R alot. Was that to manipulate?

I'm stuck at those pots where I'm trying to get the pegasus seeds. This game just will not cooperate with me. Do you know of any other alternative besides getting them from those pots in case I can't do it.

I used to love playing the game boy version. The NES version is strikingly similar except it was more fast paced. I was entertained all the way. Yes vote.

can there maybe be quick .smvs showing how to do this and which stairs these two tricks work on? I've been trying to picture it in my mind's eye and can't quite seem to do it. I assume that in as early as Hyrule Castle that these stairs glitches can be put to use, as well as pixelporting through all doorways?
Here's a demo of the second trick. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4928/down_steps_glitch.smv Hope that's more understandable.

Save warping after getting Rosa was faster by over 2 seconds. I didn't even read your Over world route, silly me. At least I save one pegasus seed.

You were able to get seeds from pushing the pots? I had to lift them up to get them.

Ok this is from Ego Buff's run. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4540/ebs_run.vbm EDIT: I wasn't thinking far enough ahead to switch to the bracelet and whistle at the same time. You must be really good at chess. I'm going to correct that right away. I haven't tested to see if SQing after talking to Rosa is faster. Will try it. I released the right button for 4 frames in order to manipulate the spider creatures to go a certain way.

It may be different in my run. What I did was fast fowarded Ego Buff's run to where I needed to manipulate the pegasus seeds. The first pot didn't give any no matter what I did. The second pot only gave me some when I made the first pot drop different seeds. And I had to delay around 4 seconds.

Let me go ahead and test to see if I could manipulate 2. Edit: Nope. I tried but I could only get one. And that was after wasting a lot of frames.

Yes, I have 4. I was thinking maybe I could skip using a seed in the last area of the underground cave before using the level 3 key. That way you wont have to redo any of your route.

Hey Tompa, I noticed in your pegasus seed route, you have me not using one after leaving Subrosia and getting off of Ricky. Is there a reason behind that? Because there is a fairly long stretch before I get to Dungeon 3.

I hex edit pretty often. Tell me where any improvement can be and I'll fix it right away.

Going on IRC is quite impossible on my PSP. My PC has no internet access. I just successfully manipulated the star to be in the first screen.

I'm going to vote yes. Not only is it more optimized, I think it's also more entertaining than the puplished run.

Unfortunately no, it is impossible to go in at a lower level. All of lavos' attacks are fixed, and cannot be changed.
So you don't think you could defeat Lavos at a lower level with tools, than the Japanese player did with a console?

One question, Tompa. Do you believe it would be faster to pit glitch over the holes and wait until the first cliff to summon Ricky. I noticed by doing that, I could skip the text where he talks about jumping over the holes. And plus it seems that walking is a little faster then riding Ricky. What do you think?

I didn't realize this, but I need at least 2 bombs. One for the boss to swallow and one for the plant to get a bomb refill. I only have one bomb. Since it cost some frames to get a bomb refill from one of the pots, I'll keep what I got going the route with the easy bomb refills.

You know what, Tompa. It turns out that the other route in Dungeon 2 is faster by about 20 frames. Since you showed me a way to get the extra bombs at the boss without wasting time, I'm thinking of redoing that part of the level over again. What do you think?

Yes I was, but I still must take damage.

Unfortunately, none of the bushes or snow dropped hearts or fairys. However when I equipped the sword, I was able to manipulate a heart from the bottom bush outside the level. But I couldn't get a fairy no matter how many times I slashed the sword.

I played all the way to the enemies that come out of the holes. I have to take damage to get past them. There's no way to dodge them without wasting time. So it seems I have no other choice but to grab that heart container. I only lose 75 frames by doing that.

Thanks for the positive responses. One thing I made sure about is that I absolutely avoid taking damage unless I was sure it would be quicker to. Randil, I agree that the music is ok, and it's the sound quality that's poor. I personally like Top Man's theme the best.

It was necessary to shoot the cannons in Needle Man's stage because of bad randomness with the needle spikes. I had to manipulate a big energy refill and conserve enough energy. One thing that kind of bugs me is that the needle setup changes for the better after delaying 17 frames, and that's how long it takes me to shoot the last cannon. I have to shoot that last cannon. Otherwise not only do I have the worse setup with the needles, I don't have enough energy to make it through that worse setup. If you read in the Rockman World 2 thread, you will see that I did some extensive level order testing. I found that starting with Metal Man is optimal. And yes I tested more places where I could potentially use rush.
