what cd rom plugin do you use? I have never had any problem with linuzappz's but the tas CD ROM tends to crash if not properly configured. Record AVI works but as far as I have seen not very well.
I does this because you change the settings. If you press run without changing the settings it works tho.

I think this is unavoidable without a massive effort. If I had to guess I would say it's due to the load times. I don't think it's worth fixing, you would need to manually time every song and the result would hardly be noticeable.

Recording off the Iso synced fine with the audio. Here is the encode.

Now I can review the run.
The game is extremely unremarkable. The graphics are quite good and it would have been a nice looking genesis game. The music is decent but unmemorable. It seems to be played well and has a several surprising shortcuts. Not very entertaining but it should still be published. 6.1/8.3

unfortunately your audio file doesn't sink with my video file because the load times are different. I think the problem is I was playing from a CD, it was the last thing I tried and I should have changed it. I am rerecording it off an Iso and hopefully it will sync then.

I tried everything and can't get the cd sound to work. Iso, mounting, burning to a disk, various plugins and no luck.
My only other option is to rip the music off the iso, enable the console output and link up the tracks biased on what the console says it's playing so at this point a audio+music file would be a big help.
It may be because I am using vista, I know CD audio is handled a little differently in it

Pacman world is a good idea, I played it a little back in the day and just tried it and the graphics and sound are well emulated. It looks like it has some TAS potential. I am going to play through quest mode then I might start to TAS it.

whoops your right, I have it backwards in the comments
I do it all the time in the run. all you need to do is do a midi-giri just before hitting a wall/ground/ceiling. You need to be headed at a decent speed so you can't just do this repeatedly unless the ground is moving at you like in the last boss.
No Idea, I didn't even notice them when I did the run. I can confirm that they will can damage you but they always seem to go up, could be an emulation error but the other attacks track me fine.
You also need a clear game of the gen strider 1 that comes with it on your memory file, It doesn't unlock stage four like 1-3 tho
A Hien run should be next, he doesn't get a stage select and has to play the levels in order. I think he may actually be slower due to his lack of a normal slash.
also I think this should be the screen shot

I think taking the damage wastes around 6 sec witch is a big deal in a run this short but still not as bad as the pause glich in Ocarina of Time.
I stopped running this when I couldn't get past the first solo fight without taking damage but decided I wanted to watch this run to much to give up on it.
It wouldn't let me link to the actual video as it rendered the __ wrong http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__1K6SIHo3g that's why I have it in a playlist.

The issue may be better illustrated with fighting games then rpgs.
No matter how you tas an RPG if it's more then 30 min long I am going to fall asleep during it.
All fighting games when played for the fastest time are boring as hell, just the same combo over and over. However TAS combo videos are very watchable.

Boost causes a ton of lag if there is anything complex on screen. It's not so bad if I do it like the dragon in the first lv. it's when they fly around and home in on a target it get's bad. I am sure the fight could be improved but lv 3 won't be in the run so I'll save it for later.
I am mashing they are just not coming out due to lag. With boost activated the controls become much less responsive.
I noticed the arcade was slightly harder when I was going around testing all the versions of the game to see why I was taking damage. If FBA RR ever emulates strider 2, that run will be better. The arcade it ran on was basically a psx with twice the ram.

I changed my mind, I am doing this game. If it gets emulated better I'll just hex it.
I have a question that I didn't even consider before. The game lets you change the difficulty and your life units. Should I play on the hardest difficulty with the least life? I think the only important thing difficulty does is make you deal less damage. And 1 hp give me two unavoidable deaths ( but might make death warping viable ).

He may not of hit you but he still took 20 bullets to the face without dieing and that should count for something. I am not sure why genetically altering a soldier makes them blind to anything over 20 feet from them. I guess it just helps them stand in one place for months at a time.

My main problem is that on the actual hardware it doesn't happen. I guess I could run it but it would just be obsoleted once it became emulated better
+ it looks sloppy.

I did level 2 and 3 both are slower then level 1 so they won't be in the finished run.

I can't do any more on this run right now due to a glich in the first solo fight in stage 1. For some reason I get hit twice whenever I kill him and these hits are completely unavoidable. I have looked at a ton of Youtube videos and none of them have this problem. I also tried it in a different emulator and didn't have this problem. I even tried the Japanese version with no luck. It's very strange, but the same thing also happens when you fight him in lv 5.
