I think we all need to be very patient with this run. Given the nature of MF's speed-enhancing techinique (pressing and releasing the shoulder buttons), every segement of this run must take an excrutiatingly long time. Of course, if I'm full of crap please tell me.

I was surprised by the shortness of the movie until I realized that this translation cuts the game in half. They eliminated several stages and bosses, including the autoscrolling horseback levels. And what's up with all the hostage rescues? Anyway, YES.

The way the JUE roms get their designation, is when the each regions cartridges get dumped, and are found to be byte for byte identical to the other regions. JUE is basically equal to W.
Let's be fair, there are countries outisde Japan, U.S.A. and the EU. I've seen both JUE and W versions for some ROMs. To answer the topic creator's question, many ROM sites use these codes (and many, many others) to distinguish between different dumps of the game data. Not every site uses these codes, however. Movie makers are encouraged to submit this info (if known) to clearly establish which version of the ROM works best with the movie.

So long as we're talking VGMix we should mention virt who, I believe, started the site. His recent epic, Crystal Flash, is an incredible recap of the entire Super Metroid soundtrack.

The Japanese Wikipedia just calls them fire flowers, although that's hardly an offical source.

Visit this site and you can create your own safety signs. Lots of icons to choose from, and customizable colors too. Results are in PDF format. http://www.feitclub.com/images/NoChance.jpg

I can't access your site at all. EDIT: OK, we solved that mystery. This movie is nearly unwatchable. Lots of CPU blocking, plenty of missed attacks (i.e. Scorpion kicking but no one is there) and I didn't see a single combo. Not to mention the sound and graphics are inferior compared to the SNES version which might not have blood but you can do the Scorpion fatality anyway. Forgive my bluntness, but this is not a particularly well-planned movie.

Great point, and good suggestions. I like Mr. Happybrackets the most.

Well.. I have to use Elec to Kill the Yellow Devil. Correct? Then i use Elec aginst The Megaman Clone since it works well. and after that, its just about gone. I have usually 3 shots left for iceman.
Lots of weapons work against teh Clone. Fire Storm hurts him just as much as the Thunder Beam does. It will be a little harder to dodge on your part though. Remember, he uses whatever you use. I like to drop into the room with the Hyper Bomb equipped. That way, he starts off throwing one which will sit there for a few seconds. Meanwhile, you can change weapons and start shooting.

That's pretty much how I feel. As far as the "anticipation" thing goes, I am really hoping to see a new Tool album this year. They don't make music very often (last two albums: 2001 and 1996)

How about a list of eligible movies? I see no easy way to display movies 1-314.

It looks pretty good so far. The level with the brains in jars seemed really well executed. Definitely play on the Highest difficulty. And watch the movie submitted here. Some things you do faster, some things he did faster. Running appears faster than jumping, so when you have to jump, try using that jump kick to get back to the ground faster. During the auto-scrolling levels (like riding the horse, or riding the elevator), the sword should be used to conserve shuriken. Also, don't forget about your magic. It can help kill some bosses faster.

Dear lord, that biplane level is a real snoozer. You spend the whole game running as fast as you can and then you engage in a low-speed pursuit? Nice job avoiding everything.

This looks like a really cool project: flash highlights! You are the SportsCenter of Time Attacks. All you need now are some shiny graphics, fancy transitions between the clips, and a voice-over laden with catch-phrases. "You can't stop Simon Belmont, you can only hope to contain him!"

I can't believe I ate the whole thing. The cardboard box level is beyond tedious. I still voted YES because it is an impressive run.

I often wrestle with this question, because I don't love video games nearly as much as I used to. As one of the older users here, I may have a slightly different perspective as my childhood gaming experience began with the positively primitive Atari. Yeah, I owned a copy of E.T. and I played it constantly. I envied my friends who had Colecovision because, well, the graphics were far superior. Whether those games were actually better than my Atari games, I can't say. That was twenty years ago, after all. I can honestly say that the strongest draw of each new system, be it NES, Playstation, or Dreamcast, was always the graphics. These days, all the systems offer visuals beyond my wildest childhood dreams. So why don't I play games all night anymore? I don't know.

Please use the "Search" key (or use the links the other posters offer) to avoid creating superfluous topics like this. Wrong board, too. Time Attacks and Speedruns are two different matters.

By the way, Snow Dragon's FAQ claims that the queen takes 150 missiles. If it's anywhere near that, I'd say just go for the bombs, but that's me.
I wonder if you have to actually lay the bombs in her stomach or not. I usually just bombed her mouth. Irregardless of how few missles you might need to kill the queen, don't you need a ton of missles to kill the Metroids first? I remember those Omega Metroids taking a lot of hits before dying.
