In order to do that, you have to use a special password to give yourself 99 luck and a Lapis Lazuli (but your other stats are lowered). Using a cheat code to then exploit a bug isn't terribly impressive.
The author of this movie isn't a regular around here, so I doubt he can hear you. It's not a "time attack" but a speedrun anyway, so there were plenty of mistakes.

The game was released before Game Boy had color variety. But the Super Game Boy allowed you to "colorize" old games. VBA allows to pick and choose whatever four colors you want...just go to Options -> Gameboy -> Colors...
I doubt the movie would record those colors used, so I guess whoever plays the movie can set the colors as they like.

OK, so we have some working theories for X but not much for Mega Man/Rockman.
My new guess is that he deactivates his weapons after defeating Dr. Wily each time, sincerely believing that this time, Wily is finished.
Reminds of that Dark Helmet line from Spaceballs:

100% map would take a ton of extra time. You'd have to fully explore large "rooms," like the surface of the planet. There's even a lot of extra space during your escape!
Screw it, this ain't Castlevania: SOTN. There's no bonus for completing the map.

Kinda like how Ness takes away your powers at the end of every level of Altered Beast?
EDIT: Separated this from the real topic...we don't want to distract Bisqwit and interfere with his work!

Impossible Mission for the C64. I played that so much as a little kid, then again sometime last year and I STILL couldn't beat it. In fact, I don't even know what I'm supposed to do except avoid scary robots and pick up stuff from vending machines.

Ha, totally. I had that game but I had no instructions of any kind. And back then, there weren't no Internet to help out.

Most of my NSFs don't have sound effects included. >_<
Even if I had more information, this might be a verboten topic akin to a ROM request. After all, these music/SFX are often sold on CDs to the public.

Just a question about this: "I decided to tackle the any% run mainly because there isn't one anymore."
Doesn't killing the first boss count as a couple of % since it gives you more missiles?
Anyways... an undoubtful YES-vote.
Even if it does count as a % (and that's debatable), the point he is making is that there is no "any %" run published right now. The other movies all have specific conditions (all items+bosses, only 1 item, no bosses), so "any %" in this case means "do whatever you want so long as you get the best time."
It's a bit of a misnomer since, as noted before, this game doesn't give you a percentage score at the end.

Yeah, I wonder what weapons he stole to get those colors.
Speaking of which, why does he get rid of all his weapons/upgrades in between each game? Does his hard drive get full or something? By the end of Mega Man 8 he should have at least 50 alternate weapons.

How much gameplay actually takes place in this 5:34? There's a long opening, at least thirty seconds of waiting after fighting Dracula's first form, and then the ending.
Seems like less than three minutes. Anyway, I say YES.

I don't have the energy to read the whole article but is it about SpongeBob SquarePants being gay? :D
The article in question (via the link) is about Cookie Monster eating healthier foods in addition to cookies. I feel the changes to the character are being misinterpreted/overstated, similar to the "SpongeBob is gay" situation that wasn't really about SpongeBob being gay.

Good Luck, and here's to hoping your name doesn't have long streams of consonants, so everytime they say your name it doesn't take 5 syllables. ^^
Nope, I'm lucky in that my name rhymes with a common English word that most Japanese are familiar with. You'll notice it's written in my sig in katakana. Of course, most Japanese people tend to address me by my first name with -San, making every day feel like The Karate Kid II.

I've been doing that on my blog for a year now. I find I have a lot of cultural clashes here in the United States. But when I go to Japan I hope to add more pictures.

Do you know where in Japan you'll be?
What will you study?
I'm going to Kansai Gaidai in Hirakata. It's a foreign language university, so I'll be studying Japanese as well as Japan-related topics (those will be in English). I'm very fortunate to have met someone here at Albany who lives in Osaka so he'll be around to help me adapt.

I know this is only one step above complaining about IRC, but I thought I would tell everyone that I'm going to be studying in Japan next year.
No word yet on whether or not I will be able to continue my moderation duties while I am away.
