This might be quite troublesome to try to enforce, especially since it often happens that the submitter needs to answer certain questions that are brought upon by the movie watchers.
Couldn't they simply edit the submission text? I thought that was what they were supposed to do in the first place.

While recently enjoying the competition over at Dwelling of Duels it occured to me that the submission process should be anonymous. There are a lot of celebrated authors whose acclaim might skew the decision making of the voters. It would be simple to enact, as the submission text could merely be edited to hide the author's name. Obviously, some people prefer to post WIP movies and foster discussion, so their anonymity wouldn't count for much. But overall, I think this would greatly improve the movie approval process.

I had the same problem as feitclub and Truncated, so I tried to finish it myself.
Both ROMs that I used were labelled "Trojan (U).nes" and matched checksums. However, I downloaded them from two different sources and I left the working one zipped up.

MY GOD. How the hell was anyone able beat the final boss of this game legitimately? I could get maybe one shot on him, but then I died about .01 seconds afterwards.
Yeah, this is a very hard game. One of the reasons I voted YES.

Also, when in doubt, check all the boxes, especially "Use WIP1 Timing" and "Open Read Only"

Sorry, I should have said. When I changed ROMs the graphics cleared up and the movie played correctly to the end. The "love and courage" line is taken from the end text, a little joke. Very little, it seems.

Yeah, I guess it was my ROM, even though the checksums matched. So I got a new one from not-my-usual place and it worked much better. I praise your love and courage.

Whoa...that was odd. The graphics were totally glitched the entire movie, and then it desynced during the second "guy breaks out of wall" battle.

It's not so much how long this run is. The problem is that I keep starting it over because I later figure out some trick that makes the run faster. I've restarted the whole run 4 times now. This has been an ongoing project for many many months. I only have a few minutes every day but the run is slowly coming together. I do something different in almost every room of the game so expect some entertainment. Also, I hope nobody else releases a run that has tricks I haven't implemented. I don't want to have to keep starting this over!
The best way to avoid restarts is to do what Viper7 did in his epic Super Mario World time attack. Outline your plans, post frequent updates, and discuss.

Before I vote, I have questions: 1) Why end the movie so late? Do you have to press a button to advance/end the princess's thanks? 2) How did you get Mario to walk so oddly during the end? Is it related to question #1? I nominate Viper7's rank be changed to "High Flyer."

Does the difficulty level play a role in this?

No, you actually said "bad."

This discussion is getting needlessly heated. There's nothing wrong with competing movies, but the language must be chilled. I think a lot of the anger here is over misunderstanding each other. Not everyone here speaks English as their first language so their comments may come across as overly curt.

Technically, he has to take the damage at one point to advance the plot, but since he takes it earlier (and keeps himself moving to boot) I think this is actually "damage to save time."

the subzero deep freeze, change back to shang tsung, change into someone else, and fatality them idea sounds amazing. i would watch that over and over. it should be done with multiple fatalities. what would happen if you babailitied after a deep freeze?
You can't use punch if you want to use a babality and the Sub Zero morph is F,D,F,HP. Stuff I clearly remember as fun: Deep freeze, then do Sub Zero's other fatality (the snowball from across the screen). Deep freeze on the Dead Pool stage, complete the fatality but hold D+LP+LK. If you want to fight Jade, you can still fatality the opponent. You just have to use LK only. Fortunately, Shang Tsung has a fatality that uses LK. The FAQs say you have to hold Block but you don't.

I just can't understand what problems some guys have: I worked 1 week on this run, spended alot of time to find the most impressing combos in every stage, do so many dizzy combos that I got myself dizzy and than someone tell me I do bad combos. Compare your world warrior movie with this one, in variation of different combos a blind man would see the difference. And I did not aim for the fastest time by far, if you watch the movie without speed up you will see that I used more Low-punches and kicks than I needed only to make a more impressed look of the combos and more variation. If you think you could make a 1000 times better ssf2 movie just go ahead and post it here. Anyway thank you shakespeare for this nice messege.
Settle down. The comments and voting so far are more positive than negative, and besides; don't take critiques or apathy personally. And definitely don't taunt other players.

I say YES because I appreciated the variety you intentionally used to keep things from getting (too) monotonous. I loved the barrel manipulation in the bonus stage and how you finished the last three with one flaming shôryûken. Now, here's how to get it done even faster: Avoid unecessary knockdowns. There were quite a few situations where you knocked your opponent down with a light shôryûken, leaving them with little or no energy left. Then you had to let them get up again before winning the round. That's only about 2 seconds, but it can add up over the course of 24 rounds. Of course, I can't think of a specific example now that I'm typing, but I remember it happening a lot. Oh, and before I forget, very nice 8-hit against Sagat.

Is this on Final Burn Alpha? That would be fun to watch. I can host the replay file if you need help with that.

The Japanese version of this game runs a lot smoother than the European version, although I still don't understand why the music is worse than the original NES. So I like what you've done so far and I hope someone shows me what this mysterious Wily Tower is.

I thought it was nice. Pretty sloppy game though. I can't imagine how you achieved 68 percent. Did they give you credit for each TIE fighter you blew up?

Alrighty feitclub, how many times does Necro have to say HE IS DOING A NO - HIT RUN. Seriously, It's his run, he can do whatever he wants. Everyone keeps complaining blah blah save time, blah my butt hurts. Necro's Run looks amazing considering it's his FIRST Run ever on any game. And on to end this post...EVERYONE INCLUDING feitclub, stop whining, as it is utterly useless, and rather annoying. Still mustn't grumble ADD ON : Why are people complaining about saving time...as far as i'm concerned a no hit run IS A PERFECT RUN, how can you improve on NOT getting hit?
Mind your tone. You're obviously new here so I'll clue you in to how things work around here. The whole point of this forum is for constructive criticism. The fact that this movie is "no-hit" is IRRELEVANT. There is still much room for improvement, and he knows that. He admits it. No one is whining or grumbling. We are evaluating. If you are annoyed, offer a counter-point but do not attack the evaluators.

I got it to work but got tired of the mistakes. Best of luck with an improved version, I highly recommend you watch the speedrun I linked to so you can learn what is and is not necessary to complete the game.
