Every Metal Slug is fantastic. The only caveat is Metal Slug 2 and Metal Slug X are quite similar. In that case, X is cooler because it has the addition of the Mars People. Kick ass, man. I may try one after this week is over. I've got a long vacation coming up.

Just go to a popular search engine (it rhymes with "broogle") and type in the name of the file you are looking for. That's what I mean by easy.

I'm more interested in watching "as fast as possible" than 100%. Be sure to check out the "unassisted" speedruns on www.metroid2002.com. Some interesting tricks there. My favorite is bypass the Zebtites (those tubes that block your path and you have to use missles to destroy them) en route to the Mother Brain.

It will lower my post count, but I agree. I don't think anyone has posted in it for weeks.

so, I can't seem to open any neo-geo games with this thing, though other things seem to work fine. let me know if it isn't ok to discuss this, but it gives me a romset incomplete message, all neo geo games are missing their graphical data apparently. "asia-s3.rom" and "000-lo.lo" are missing according to it, but i've never seen those in any romsets. EDIT: fixed this problem.. yall dont need to know about it probably :)
I'll answer the question for anyone else with this problem. In order to run Neo Geo games you must have a "neogeo.zip" containing key BIOS files. It is usually available alongside any collection of Neo Geo games. No, I can't tell you where to get it, but it is very easy to find.

Thank you very much. I look forward to trying this. A Metal Slug time attack would be incredible.

Ick...I just played this game for the first time. Improved graphics, yes. But the entire game moves S...L...O...W...L...Y and the sound sucks. That, plus the removed glitches, make me wonder if there's a point to trying this game. But hey, if you try it, I'll watch.

But we will never change it enough to please them. So (again) I vote for less rather than more. Bisqwit has gone out of his way to explain every aspect of this hobby. The link is sufficient.

He's talking about the earlier Sega game system, not the Genesis. There are plenty of good Genesis emulators.

my question is, do the small point balls add on time when they're tallied up after you complete a level? I think they do but I can't tell.
Absolutely yes. After grabbing that thing that falls into the room, a small fanfare is played and then the score is tallied. First the bonus for defeating the boss (a quasi-random score determined before play begins) and then a bonus for each little ball collected. I'm sure Boco will tell me what all these balls are called but I don't know what they are.

I fooled around with it a little. Not much variety in the game. It would be like a time attack of Burger Time or Mr. Do's Castle. Not that I'm knocking the classics, but be forewarned: It will get repetitive fast.

What I don't like about it is that it makes it sound like we are performing miracles (i.e. things that should NEVER happen) when we are actually performing marvels (i.e. things that are possible but highly improbable.)

Well, the way I see it, emulator movies are like magic tricks. They look like they're played for real, but they're not, and you know that. You don't shout out to the magician, "Hey, you cheated! My buddy told me how you really did it!" No, you just think to yourself, "Wow, that guy is pretty good at fooling me into thinking something impossible happened," and enjoy the show.
That's a fun way to think of it, although it still suggests a pinch of trickery. But I like the analogy of "making the impossible possible." Hey, there's a slogan: Time Attack: Making the Impossible Possible Bisqwit, please change my rank to "Word Player."

I applaud "Mister DAN" for sticking to his guns and continuing to make points. Normally trolls just make inflammatory statements and silently watch the chaos. He seems driven to keep this "discussion" going. In reality there is nothing to discuss. We've been over (and over and over and OVER) how to make the opening disclaimer best explain how and why these movies are made. The point I made in the past is still evident in this thread; no amount of disclaimer will ever satisfy people. Someone will invariably accuse of cheating which could not be further from the truth. I think it is Mister DAN who should be "checking his dictionary" to realize that cheating and deception go hand-in-hand. They cannot be separated. And we cannot be "cheating" if we clearly define what we do. In short, I again urge someone in charge to lock this topic. It cannot go anywhere and this matter is always being discussed in civil tones elsewhere.

Downloading now...this sounds too good to be true! EDIT: Okay...um...it's been a long time since I played this game so I don't fully understand what he did. Was he repeatedly using a Limit Break? How did it do so much damage? Boco-san, help!

I almost used the word "rip-off" to describe Viper, but then I remembered the golden rule of video games:

I have started a few runs on this game. It's a little slow paced, but it is a very hard game so a time attack would be pretty cool. You might also consider the Capcom game "Code Name: Viper" (a.k.a. "Ningen Heiki - Dead Fox") which is exactly like Rolling Thunder but with much better graphics/music. While the arcade looked cool, I think Rolling Thunder did not translate well to the NES, perhaps because of the whole Tengen/Nintendo feud.

Someone made a SF time attack using Gens. I doubt it has to do with randomness. The MKII ROM felt weird to me...the music was all wrong. Perhaps it's just a bad dump?

Famtasia does have autofire (Config -> Key -> check box for Auto), but with slow-motion it's hard to tell the difference.

There is a second Castlevania on SNES...depending on language it's in, it might be called Dracula X or Vampire's Kiss. It is pretty cool.

Well, i just watched it, and I have a concern. The game looks too easy. I know it's not that easy to play, but all he does is run/slide around, and Hydro Storm away the three boss battles. That's not very exciting. If I were to attempt a time attack on this game, perhaps I should promise not to use any Item Crashes? They seem overpowered.
