As for the run itself, I found it quite boring. I'm not a fan of SMS games in general due to their relative simplicity, and this one wasn't bad, but the lack of music and specially the desert pausing killed it for me. The only good part in the end was wall-clipping, but it was way too rare. Voted No.

Then won't it be faster to kill more and still get that ending?

Do you even have the latest avisynth installed?

That doesn't contain any more details, oh well. Does your .avs script open in virtualdub if you drag'n'drop it?

I used NTSC for this run because this game has a release on the Gam*Boy and Aladdin Boy (the Korean equivalents of the Master System).
Please provide the source of this info. I guess K in the ROM name stands for Korea, but I can't easily find the links. Also this would mean this ROM works in both PAL and NTSC modes equally well? EDIT: Okay this page has release info and scans for Korean SMS release. They don't mention how they know it in their edits, but I think it's fine to trust them.

Open global.bat in a text editor and remove @echo off. Open command prompt in the folder where global.bat is. Click on cmd's left corner, and in properties set buffer height to 999, also set allow mouse selection. Type in globcal.bat 2 3, hit enter. It will wait a few seconds and then print all the extra text to the screen. Select everything, rightclick (it copies the text), and paste here https://pastebin.com/ Save the paste and post the link.

Pacifist version Used for movies that explicitly avoid killing enemies (or only kill as few as possible) when it is unnecessary for game completion, even at the expense of completion time. In games where avoiding unnecessary kills does not postpone completion, it can be used as a stylistic choice and should still be tagged.
Those turrets are enemies, we don't divide enemies into organic that we spare and mechanical that we can freely butcher - a pacifist person spares both. Even then, not only unnecessary kills but even unnecessary violence can put people off in a pacifist movie. It's a subjective thing, but our Moons tier where we accept side goals (other than any% and 100%) fully depends on subjectivity - entertainment, as well as whether the movie goal feels solid and sensible.

I would say a pacifist goal makes the most sense in games where you're supposed to shoot everything (Contra) or hack and slash like crazy (Ninja Gaiden). When the regular route already consists of avoiding/dodging/sparing most of the enemies, there's no explicit pacifist feel in the no-kills run - any% is already almost pacifist!

The game author doesn't have to define the "all items" goal as long as he defines what items are officially, which can then be inherited by a speedrunner or ignored. I'd say official definitions have value.

Thanks for clarification! Some goal that could result in tons of destruction and violence would look like a much better candidate in my opinion, Metal Slug vibe. Would fastest bad ending be like that?

I watched this and the published any% run side-by-side using this amazing service: https://viewsync.net/watch?v=MZLeKvwdnw0&t=0&v=-jtb7r-uo0o&t=0&mode=solo And I think gameplay looks mostly identical, with a few route tweaks and several-frame delays here and there. It's clearly not as different as Ultimortal is. I would expect this run to be as entertaining as any%, but it's just due to vast similarity. So I ask the audience, people please compare this to [3937] Windows Iji by Matslo123 in 27:41.87 and tell how many substantial differences you see that make this movie unique and unexpected after the any% run.

That's weird, no execute or write hooks... Here's how it's done in FBA, no idea if it helps: https://github.com/TASVideos/fbarr/blob/master/fbarr/src/burner/luaengine.cpp#L1044 Your wiki link gets killed by the comma that goes after.

Haha it's perfectly fine, I'll word it further without problems now! As for the screenshot, just pick a timestamp in the encode above, since I don't even know where that place is.

After some pondering I think this movie is fine and it can be considered full completion. Having to play 2 modes at once feels odd, and the challenge mode is very questionable in a TAS, because it doesn't represent too much unique gameplay on its own. But unlocking everything that this game has locked as a bonus is a solid goal, it feels uniform and complete. Obsoleting/superseding the any% branch isn't the most pleasant option, since some people might get confused, so we will need to explain that this movie contains the old one and should be watched at least for the Arcade mode completion. All in all, looks good to me. As for entertainment, the Arcade mode was awesome and I want to vote Yes, but I can't really enjoy the Challenge mode, so I have to vote Meh.

Conclusion Dolphin must switch to ffmpeg -c:a pcm_s16le -c:v libx264rgb -qp 0 -preset ultrafast -g 30 -pix_fmt rgb24 -f avi
Recently we did some tests and commits to Dolphin, and turns out ffmpeg -c:a pcm_s16le -c:v ffv1 -pix_fmt bgr0 -level 1 -g 1 -coder 1 -context 1 -f avi is the most compatible thing on the planet, it even works in VirtualDub and AVISynth as long as the decoder is installed (we haven't figured out which one exactly tho). But AVISynth requires a little tweak to import it as lossless:
Language: avisynth

AviSource("movie.avi", pixel_type="RGB24")
My fork that fixes FFV1 dumping: https://github.com/vadosnaprimer/dolphin/releases Also apparently, -coder 1 and -context 1 don't work in the latest Dolphin codebase. https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/7933

Thanks! Do you have any screenshot suggestions, and maybe a publication description suggestion too? I don't know the game so I won't be able to describe it sensibly.

Darkdevil, stop messing with the Workbench. If you submit another movie that is so sloppy that it gets rejected, your submission privileges will be revoked. If you cancel your next submission before we can judge it properly, your submission privileges will be revoked.

7 rates against 75, I'd ask for more enthusiasm.

As I said in the userfile comments, we'll just set the accurate movie time in the database for this submission (and publication if it happens). It will have to be verified of course.

Lua callbacks for memory read/write/execute, and input poll are extremely useful in TASing, so if we ever want to make use of mame for TASing in any way in future, we should request that those are implemented. Or implement them ourselves, sending a pull request. The infrastructure for memory hooking is already there, it's just a matter of exposing it to lua. Dunno about input polling, it is at least not trivial IIRC.
