Would it be any feasible to make a rerecording build of RetroArch? The reason is that RetroArch supports more cores/systems than BizHawk. Arcade, MSX, NDS, PSP, PC-98, Sharp X68000/etc are among them. It already has its own movie format (.bsv) and it even supports rewind within movies (but not save-states yet). Plus it's free and open-source under GPLv3. Here's some useful discussion: https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/543 I don't really know anything about their internals or whatever else that's relevant though, so no idea if this would be realistic/possible or not. I'm sorry if this sounds like a stupid idea.
Retroarch is not an emulator, it's just a client to all the infinity of cores that exist independently, and some cores developers even hate retroarch/libretro (but because of open source, they can't forbid it)! As far as we're concerned, nothing in retroarch usage has ever depended on absolute determinism of general play, and nothing has ever needed perfectly deterministic savestates in any of libretro cores. This framework is targeting real-time play, including netplay, and it's decent at that, but it's no one's goal to make it any deterministic. Also because of libretro nature, you either torture developers of the cores to make their cores (and savestates) deterministic, or you set up an external waterbox-like environment that snapshots the memory of the entire retrorch application. We're trying to figure out how to use libTAS for that. Bizhawk's waterbox approach is much more narrow, but it's super early in development, and no one knows if it's even theoretically applicable for retroarch. Tell me one thing. How many tools like Lua, Hex Edtior or RAM Watch does retroarch have?

I think it was related to a bit of misunderstanding, aiqiyou resigned from the authors to apologize to the author of the previous submission. And though it's unfortunate that it had to be rejected, I think no hard feelings remain, so there's really no need to be too hard on oneself. An improvement has been made, and the authors deserve credits. I would agree that forced co-authorship was unnecessary, as I believe we would be able to convince aiqiyou to return :)

Meanwhile I checked the old 8K uploads that failed, and they weren't reencoded by YT.

I made a test movie. Link to video http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/53447415911972804 It's 275 frames faster in the segment of level 1 until the power-up grab. The mini-boss is for some reason a bit slower though. But this is how such a game should look in a TAS imo.

Looks like you need to rename Other to Tools? Put there articles about rerecording emulators, frameworks, tools, workflows, whatever. As for multiple fame, I'd prefer having duplicate entries that are cross-linked, "this has also been covered in this article about X" kinda thing.

TASVideos, TASers, and Games are fine as subpage names. Multiple Fame and Others are not descriptive at all, I still don't know what they are about.

This seems to be the active issue about it: https://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/9915 I guess all you have is keeping nagging them. If it was working on older versions, maybe they provide interim builds so it could be tested when this bug appeared in the codebase.

Doesn't seem silly to me. Those 2 pages look good too. And I don't understand the second question.

You better ask Dolphin developers about what it means and if it can be fixed, we don't have a lot of them hanging around here. As for the full completion category, we do take it seriously. There's no problem with including more of things to complete if they match our rules linked above, and it doesn't need to match the RTA category, unless it happens to fit the TAS rules nicely.

Since the new version will be not only more complete, but also more optimal now, it would be a good idea to cancel this one and then just submit the proper run separately.

As for making a more complete run, I am definitely interested. I have already begun working on this and hope to complete it soon. Thanks again!
Is it possible to give a rough estimate when it might be finished? Like, will this movie have some time to shine, or you're already almost done? It wouldn't make much sense to publish a movie just to be instantly obsoleted by a more complete version.

Yes.

2. Subpages contains usernames... ? I guess this was something an old tradition. Or maybe because of SEO? Do we need that extra subpage just to mention the user and the event at once in the link?
They are hosted at tasvideos, so it makes sense to break them up like this. If those were just external links, we wouldn't need to keep names subpages. Doesn't seem to harm this way anyway.

3. Should I ask someone to move the current page to MassMedia (to keep stats)? Or just create it and link it from Media? (this way I could only put only the relevant text (subpages) to the main MassMedia page)
Done. Though format the links for Other TASers the same way others are formatted. Also, PangaeaPanga has published movies. Haven't checked the others.

If a item appears if you just wait, and then you can quickly complete the game after getting it, it doesn't looks like getting it is a sensible speedrun goal. As for unlocking, are there no codes of any kind? Can they at least be unlocked for a separate, save anchored movie? If additional levels are unlocked using codes, we allow them in Vault. If it's only possible via save carryover, it has to be Moons.

Please elaborate. You can set the time when starting a movie, I guess that doesn't help? Also if you just have to wait for 2 hours no matter what, how is that even a speedrun? What game? What goal?

I don't think there's such a thing as "fceux frontend" at all, it's just a HUGE pile of all sorts of spaghettis of infinite length that were being intermixed by a ton of people for a ton of years. It's what bizhawk would look like if it was 60 years old.

Haha, yeah baby! It should have happened sooner or later. 10 years ago writing a core in C# maybe looked like a grownup approach, but over the years it's been getting more and more accurate, slower and slower, and at this point it's obvious that if we can't emulate 6502 or Z80 based systems at full speed, we're doing something wrong. It also means there's no way younger consoles will ever run at usable speeds if the same approach is taken. Though I don't think anyone will be using it for further development, as opposed to just running movies on it. There are tons of NES emulators now, and it's kinda getting old. Even bizarre accuracy isn't that novel anymore. So I don't know if this is eventually adopted by hawk again, but this undertaking is obviously something worthy.

Does this mean that for the rest of the game you don't have to die with one player anymore to reduce enemies stats?

It looks really awesome this time! I don't see anything problematic with this bug, but please explain how it happens.
