But 8bit found that strat as he was messing around to get a deeper understanding of the mechanics for his TASing, could that part of him doing the research make it not trivial from a technical standpoint?

As an RTA WR holder of this game, I'll give my point of view on that. For the 9.88s strat (the one used in the TAS), it took me 10 minutes to do, 5 of them was about setting my emulator and the recording. In my opinion, 5 minutes is among the fastest people that people have took to get the strat once, as I do know that some runners took multiple hours to get it for the first time. Is that as trivial as some people think it is? I don't think so. For the 9.84 strat, it took me 5 hours to get. While I do know that some people may also consider this "trivial", keep in mind that while doing roughly the same inputs for the 9.88 strat, you need to do a perfect pause-unpause at 50 FPS, which is really, really hard to do consistently. All that being said though, if you want to go by the "trivial" point of view from a TASing perspective, yes, it's trivial. just press the buttons on the frames that RTA runners use for their setup, and voilà, you have yourself a TAS that ties the RTA WR. If you want to look cool, you could record an RTA run, trim down the inputs, and you've got yourself a TAS with 1 rerecord. But keep in mind that this setup was found while TASing, not by messing around RTA. It's a glitch that seems to be really unlikely to happen during a playthrough, much more unlikely than the method that is used in the current publication. So is this trivia? From an RTA and technical standpoint, no; but from a TAS execution standpoint, yes. Choose whichever definition of "trivial" you choose to go for, as it would pretty much give the answer as for if this movie deserves its publication or not.

No, the exit is always on the right side of the screen, it's just a matter of getting there. I wouldn't necessarly call the movement to get to the exit a "puzzle", I prefer to think of it as some platforming with added obstacles that work really well with the mechanics that the game has to offer.

Hey, so I looked at the publication page on some of my movies, and noticed that some of them were wrong/incomplete. For [4035] GBA Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge "100%" by g0goTBC in 58:51.19 I noticed that it's missing the "Takes damage to save time" and "Uses death to save time" categories. A few examples of that can be found at 8:12 and 25:59 in the published video. For [4101] GBA DK: King of Swing by g0goTBC in 17:34.47 the "Genre: Puzzle" tag was put, while I definitely think that it'd be more appropriate to have the "Genre: Platform" instead. The weird part: while both any% TASes got the Puzzle tag, the Diddy mode TAS got the Platform tag instead. I was wondering if someone could fix that, or tell me if my thoughts on those is wrong, and why it's the case. Thanks in advance.

That's very impressive. Nice job figuring that out! May I ask why the given time seems to be way longer than the run itself? Could it be because of blank inputs at the end of the movie file?

That's a very very very TAS. Jokes aside, even when having it play at 4x the speed, it felt slow-paced. That's a no for me, but it's good for the vault tier.

I'm actually surprised doing something of that sort is that simple. I wonder if preventing a sound to play is that simple for every game, or if it happens to be easy with just this game.

Oh, that's an excellent idea! I personally do not have any experience with rom hacking or scripting, so I didn't even consider doing something of that sort. I'd be happy to try something like that once I finish the 200% TAS, as it will contain some amount of heart beeping all throughout the run. I only need to learn how to do it.

I personally didn't find the TAS entertaining, but I can see it being added to vault if the TAS description gets updated. I'd love to read on what makes this TAS optimised, if it is.

I had some fun playing through it casually. Though I couldn't beat the 2nd half of the game without savestates.
