I don't know why you'd think that when the submission text makes it clear that this is not the case.
I had not yet read the submission text. *inserts foot into mouth* *shove shove shove shove* But I hold that it's not a terribly entertaining movie.

I've seen videos of a human solving it just as quickly, and those were interesting only because it was a demonstration of extreme, *real-time* human skill. Unlike the vast majority of games, I think the un-skippable animation time between rotations contributes to the total time to the point that champions doing it in real-time are faster. Even if it weren't for the rotation animations, I'd still think this is much less interesting than a video of a human doing it. Voting no. Also - in general, I think most video games based on real-life puzzles shouldn't be TASed due to the inherent lack of creativity required to make the TAS, and display of creativity is really what I think makes TASes so fun to watch. And there are twenty "new" submissions in the queue since 3/20; could these be addressed, please? Seriously, it's been two weeks.

ah, thanks for explaining that, now i'm starting to understand what TASing is all about. so, basically, the point of TASing was to show how it would look if JESUS would play video games? i always suspected TASing was based on christianity, because it was started by bisqwit who is a christian. you and bisqwit were secretly planning this from the very beginning when this website was created. bisqwit invented TASing to show the glory of god, so tasvideos is actually a secret religious organisation to get us reqruited into the religion of yahweh, oh my GOD!!!!!11
To point out the obvious, this is awesome. I'm hanging it on a wall. Next time I'm drunk I'm doing the same. But I digress - It being April 2nd, could someone please get that "The Site Is Closing blah blah" Armageddon shit off of the front page, OR at least succeed it with another news headline that says something like (keeping with the tone of Nach's related posts) "April Fool's, fuckers!" so newbies won't assume the site is about to go away and stop visiting, and so long-time members like Shinryuu won't throw themselves in front of a train ("private" thread page 6) ?

The rebuttal posted here several hours ago was an April Fools Prank. This site is really closing, and I'm doing it all purely to flex my power over you.
That's great! Can I buy the domain? I need a place to host videos for my Towel Assistance Society.

I was just about to begin angrily protesting the shut down of this site when it occurred to me that this happens to be the first of April. Going to such lengths for the purpose of evoking passionate responses from those who love the site seems kind of manipulative, and I don't much like knowing that I've been emotionally manipulated. That said, BRILLIANT!! The whole April Fool's trick was ingenious and I'm really glad such clever persons are part of the TASing community.

I agree with Aqfaq, that it should be published for sake of variety. It's only a minute long and I think enough happens in that minute to keep most people reasonably entertained. Yes vote. I also vote yes on "sgrunt's DS encode logo is cool".

Again, I think adelikat did a fine job of TAS-ing a lousy game, and I think his goal of getting more consoles on tasvideos is a worthy one. That said, it seems clear to me that this (lengthy) debate has been reduced to the question of whether selection of a "lousy" game, and not necessarily a lousy TAS in itself, is enough to justify rejection of a TAS. I offer the following excerpts from the tasvideos 'guidelines' page: http://tasvideos.org/Guidelines.html * The game should give an impression of complexity; it should not be overly easy or straightforward. * There should be enough variety to entertain. It should not have, say, 10% of it entertaining and 90% boring. * It should not be a bad game in the first place, such that it distracts the viewers. (NES Front Line is then cited as an example) Thus, tasvideos does recognize that some games are just plain "bad". If Gordo the Lab Monkey doesn't meet the above tasvideos standards (which I think is the case), then any TAS of it should be rejected.

I've enjoyed most of adelikat's previous TASes, but this one is of a game so hopelessly uninteresting that even the most technically competent run would be sleep-inducing. Like several others who have posted, I had to skip over a few minutes of the video to stay awake. Sadly this reasoning leads me to vote NO. Incidentally - this being my first post, I'd like to add that I've been a faceless lurker on tasvideos for a few years, and in that time the site had become my absolute favorite. Long live TAS-ing! =)
