Thanks for working on this, Fortranm! It was fun to watch, even if it didn't work out in the end (yet). Seems like it could become a pretty important test for future improvements.

Great improvement to an old run. Definitely a yes. I never managed to defeat the end boss as a kid. That was one rough battle in real time.

This run definitely picked up speed as it progressed. Loved seeing the boss rush decimated like that. Absolutely yes, there's always room for more Fantasy Zone. EDIT: Not a lot of people voting on this. Not sure if it's lack of interest in Fantasy Zone (such a shame!) or just lack of an encode for easy viewing...

The code "AKAMA" doesn't work in JPN version. I don't know if there is any way to enter the hard mode directly with Japanese rom.
I can't find any mentions of Name entry codes to start on hard mode/second loop in the Japanese version, but here is a playthrough that uses a password to start on hard mode stage 1-1 with no partners: Link to video

Pretty hilarious game overall, it was fun watching the giblets fly (then somehow return to their places?). Not sure how I missed the existence of this game previously. Great job planning this out. Seems quite good from a technical standpoint. I enjoyed the amusing animations, but in the end it ended up rather repetitive watching the same 4 or so attack animations repeat themselves for about 20 minutes. Voting on the high end of Meh. (Or I would, if there was a "high-end-of-Meh" vote option.) Nice job. :)

Great! Was hoping for this. Entertainment is definitely improved in this one. 23 frames to save 3 minutes of sleepytime is a good trade in my book.

Man, is this a fun watch so far. Fantastic work! Hoping inspiration hits you to finish this off eventually.

Az Atorse's main body can be damaged, but it is futile, as the main body has infinite Hit Points.
He did not cheap out on the final boss--no matter what he did, the boss would have died in the same way at the same time. There is no defeating this boss without running out the timer. If you think that he should have played around with the boss for three minutes, fine, that's cool, but I'm more impressed by him finding the earliest possible moment to end input. I've always been a fan of runs that beat the game despite pulling the controller out and walking into the next room, metaphorically. The whole rest of the run was incredibly quick and glitchy, too, so there's no way I'm not YES!ing this baby. Good job!
Yeah, as the video linked above shows: it's likely true that the main body has infinite hit points and can't be destroyed directly, but it seems it automatically dies when all of the orbs are destroyed.

As for the voice acting, I can't decide which is worst, the actual voice or the lines.
Oh god. I remember submitting these lines to Zany Video Game Quotes like 15 years ago. Surprised to see that site is still up (FRAMES), and the Magician Lord screenshots and audio files are still there. I swear it sounds like they picked up a tipsy Lorenzo Music off the street to record these lines. Loved the TAS, disliked the ending. Still gave it a Yes, but would much prefer an actual boss kill-off for more entertainment.

Happy to hear this is still being worked on! It would definitely be interesting if the ending could be triggered somehow. I would seriously miss the surreal experience of the current run, though.

This run entertained me. I absolutely adore game-shattering glitch runs, but it was nice seeing the stages actually get played through for a change without DelayStageClears or scrolling glitches. Things seemed pretty optimized, though a couple of things stood out to my untrained eye, like the boss points not being manipulated to 50000 as others have pointed out. Not sure about category stuff, so I'll not comment on that.

Glad to help! When a full playthrough is required to access something on a second run, isn't it acceptable to TAS sometimes if there is a verification movie/file? For example, games that have New Game+ and the like. That might be an option if you really want to be able to access Scenario ?4 in the TAS.But not really certain if this game would qualify for that treatment.

My attempt at a translation of AmaizumiUni's info: For the Japanese version, too, different sites have differing info on how to do this. Some of them mention you need to beat the game once and be on the second playthrough of the game to access it. This may possibly be against TAS rules, not sure. Conditions: start the Scenario Select, clear all scenarios (1-27, ?1-3) without any of your commanders being defeated once. After that, select Scenario 26 and clear it again. If you'll give me a little time, I'll test it out on the Japanese version (I do not possess the English version). Sounds promising! I can't tell if the game has to be cleared once, then all stages beaten a 2nd time, then scenario 26 has to be beaten a third time? Maybe I'm overthinking what's being said. 「2周目でないとそのシナリオは遊べない」ということなら、2周目で全シナリオをまたクリアし、26面だけを三回目でクリアする必要があるということですか。考えすぎかもしれません。

I tried to follow a few other links to FAQs for this game, but so far they've just led me back to the same page I got the info above (link here). There may be some Japanese forums out there for this game, but I don't know. You make a good point, I don't think it could hurt to ask some of the bilingual folks in the Japanese language forum here, they may have go-to resources for this kind of thing.

As for Secret 4 - Is it possible to reach this stage in a normal run ?
I've never been able to reach it normally (it's activated during Scenario 26). Supposedly though, the conditions needed to get there are rather extreme and not feasible for a TAS. (from TheStarbird's guide on GameFaqs) "NOTE: I'm not sure, but I have heard that Eggbert will challenge you to the Death Tower (scenario ?4) if everyone is at the 10th level of their 5th class. Though I haven't verified that yet, but if you accept his challenge, make sure you have a LOT of attack power as well as defense. Multiple Runestoning Elwin in the game helps majorly. If Elwin's stats are NOT at LEAST around 80 for AT and DF, then do NOT do this challenge."
Hmm. Looking at a Japanese strat site, that info doesn't seem to match up. The conditions listed there are as follows: 2周目で1~27面と?1~?3面をクリアし、指揮官全員が敗北回数0で26面をクリア。 Something along the lines of this: "Clear Scenarios 1-27 and ?1-?3 in the second round, and clear Scenario 26 with all of your Commanders having zero defeats." By "second round", it's also possible they mean "second playthrough"... not sure how this game works in regards to that. I guess that also means your commanders can't ever perish? Not sure of the accuracy of this data, either, but it's something to test out.

Things that are not vaultable - 1) "games" that are not clearly definable as a game - Does this movie even qualify here? 2) goals that are not clearly in the fastest completion or full completion categories - does this aim for fastest time. - It isn't mentioned that this is the goal nor can I really tell it is from watching the encode 3) games that fail to have a clear non-subjective completion point - looping forever is ok, but I'm not sure this has a "loop point" even, or that the criteria of completion is non-subjective. 4) movies that fail to be distinguishable from the best real-time speedruns - This movie may not even pass this as well.
Thanks for the reminder on those! This seems like a submission that skirts a fine line on most of those points. It's definitely a game - the objectives for the mini-games are clear enough, though the painting portion may be questionable. Completion point - an argument *could* be made that completing all content is completing the game, thought it's subjective as you say. And at least 2 of the mini-games are fairly clearly TAS-level precision (color matching & the maze). Not positive on the painting portion, and the mole whacking aimed for entertainment. So to me this really feels like almost like a "test" to see where exactly the line for Vault submissions will be drawn.

This was horribly boring. The color matching game was especially terrible to sit through. I enjoyed for a fleeting moment the little rhythm game while playing whack-a-mole, but everything else just was about as fun as coloring a dinosaur. I love jlun2, but I vote a very big No here. :) Probably vaultable, but what isn't?

The run is definitely not bad. Does the music on this game have emulation problems, or was the composer just tone-deaf? I mean, it's not quite Crazy Bus level, but it's getting there...

I didn't think it was possible, but I somehow inexplicably enjoyed this more than I should have. The previous submission of this game left me high and dry, but this looks so much more polished that I couldn't help but smirk. I should vote Meh, but my body is forcing me to vote Yes. See you in hell! :) EDIT: I suddenly want to see frame wars for this in the Vault.

Agreeing with the seeming lack of optimization. This will be a tough one to make enjoyable. Too bad later levels don't get harder. Gonna have to give this a no.

Nice, this one is definitely more comprehensible than some of the others! Dodging those bats must be hell when playing in real time. A shame those spiders got in the way of making it back to the platform. I give it a yes nonetheless, as it looks well-executed, and it will be nice to have a slightly meatier Atari run accepted.

Had no idea what was going in this video until I read about the demo loop trick in more detail. Went from confused to amused. Yes vote for this, and to continue populating the Atari section.
