The second naturally. And I think that editing the game files is equivalent of applying a hack. It should not be considered as a run of the original game, but as a run of this new hacked variant. And a hack that is just the last level of the game is not suitable for TASing.

Yes, but that would be equivalent as to using a cheating device. And that is against the rules. Edit by DarkKobold: Inserted Nach quote.

Bzzt, wrong. It is NOT a driver. It is the operating system.

The guns, the enemies, the bosses, the graphics, the level design, the physics, the sound effects and the music.

It is NOT realtime sound. And you need to use the full class name, with the package name. So use "org.jpc.modules.SoundCard" for the sound card.

It's a fun platforming game with plenty of hidden things. It's basically Sonic with a gun, but it is still a very good game. So yeah, it's fast, and it got shooting. The current emulation status is that it runs, but has redrawing issues. It also triggers a lot of exceptions, but that's apparently as designed. Be sure to pick the least bad graphics quality.

  1. Get the emulator it self to start. Build it, download it, I don't care.
  2. Get the BIOS and VGABIOS images.
  3. Get a disk image of the OS that you want to run the game with. I use ms dos with a cd-rom+ems+xms+mouse support. It also sets the BLASTER environment variable for the sound and automatically chooses the hd as the active drive.
  4. Get a copy of the game.
  5. Make a directory with the game in it.
  6. Point the jpc image importer at the directory and fiddle with the image size settings until it works. Either the image builds, your settings is rejected directly or the image doesn't build due to the content being too big for the set size.
  7. Assemble the system, putting the boot image on fda, the hd (game) image on hda and so on. Be sure to load any modules that you want to use (such as the FPU and the SoundCard).
  8. Start the system.

You are new to dos aren't you? First you need to have a compatible boot image with the OS. Most people will just use the stock freedos image. Personally, I use my own image based on ms dos. It has some slow things like cd rom support, so it's not that good for framewhoring. Anyway, then you need a hd image containing the game. Just install the game to a folder and import the folder as an image. I have a premade pack with some freeware stuff. Then it's just a matter of assembling with the images and starting the emulator up. Once the os is running, you will want to start the game. That is usually a matter of using the CD command to get to the right folder and then running the main game executable. Framewhorers will modify their boot images to do that for them.

Him being the author of the emulator may have helped. But IIRC he has told me that he'd use LUA for that. So, I am assuming that he did exactly that.

This is a good game. It's similar to zelda 1, but the gimmick is not shooting rupies at the enemies, but shooting a hammer that returns. It is freeware and works well in jpc. For the purpose of discussing route planing, please run the game with the command line switch /volstagg, it will show the room number while playing. It also enables cheat mode, so it's a no no for actual runs.

Yet another megaman 2 hack tased. It looks like a good hack and the gameplay doesn't look too bad. Some issues with shots being wasted and getting hurt a lot, as with the last 5 or so hacks that you have done. But honestly, pick another game, I am getting bored of megaman 2. Is there no hacks of the other megaman games?

Good game, good run, love how you multitask during the race in the first level. Easy yes vote.

You have to be more precise when talking about the games. There are a lot of games that are just "press the indicated button as fast as possible".

Cool gameplay, but I feel that it hasn't enough action. So this series is not new to the site? Anyone want to recommend a run of a more action loaded game in the series?

I don't see how this shows any "superplay". It looks like I could do this with a little training. It is not that you have done bad, the gameplay is just too simple. The game is also slow. I want something that shocks me. No vote here.

Apparently some of the newer metal gear games does this. I don't know the details.

Most would not need to be installed more than once. But some games apparently don't do full installs and need to have the installs in the middle of the game.
