Sadly, many games are incompatible with Gnash for the simple fact that they use the modern actionscript vm. There are other flash player replacements, but I have no idea how much they like hourglass.

I like this new run more. It feels like a tool assisted speedrun. It has that superhuman feeling.

Hmm, just a single address? I took a look at the battle script myself just now, it's quite complicated stuff. Each head sets and clears flags for which heads can and can't be transformed to and the body performs the actual transformation after randomly deciding if to change the turn before.

You wrote that you didn't understand the head changing in the final boss. Did you look at the battle scripts for it?

Not all surfaces are solid. Yet, not all solid surfaces are visible.
Not all visible surfaces are solid. - is better IMO.
Nope, that's a different claim. Is it that some solid surfaces are invisible or that some visible surfaces aren't solid?

Uhm, wouldn't this "trick" count as an obvious cheat code? Also, you "supposed" that walking is faster than jumping? That implies that you didn't bother checking.

I meant the smaller one, the one that remains in the desert area.

That skip in the desert, could it be omitted to cut down on the waiting for night time later?

I don't think that this is a "hack", that implies that there is a base game. This is just a plain old unlicensed game.

Emulators are generally coded in C or C++, but you will need to know assembly. Specifically, the assembly variant used for the system that you are emulating. A challenge with emulators is that there is so many details, especially since all production systems have multiple subparts that need to interact. But the biggest challenge is timing. Some code is incredibly picky with the timing requirements. Add in the fact that there are nearly always multiple concurrently operating subparts and you get exponentially increasing complexity.

In theory it is nothing more than just allowing input to be recorded and providing savestates. Of course, that's not always simple. But as for why not? I share your opinion that it is a simple lack of anyone caring.

Dooty does another Oddworld run on the PSX, DMG. It's nice I suppose.

I'd like to note that the goal of the site is to entertain. Fastest speed is just the default way of doing so. I say that less than a second extra to bother finishing the final boss is more than a justified speed/entertainment trade off.

I am just wondering how this can be slower than the RTA for one level. Could you please clarify how this is?

I also think it is cheap to let the final boss time out. As for the voice acting, I can't decide which is worst, the actual voice or the lines.

Age of Empires flat out documents the AI cheats, a few dedicated commands will ignore visibility rules to retrieve data, like unit counts. The commands even have the word "cheat" in the name. Another RTS (whose name I've forgotten) peeks at your unit groups. The ones that franpa mentioned. Starcraft has AI commands that flat out gives the AI free resources. Several pinball games are known to fudge the randomness for the match animation. In both directions I might add. The game shows several possible match numbers? Flat out lie.

I'd like to point at Speedy Gonzales. The game has a bug in a late stage where it ends up jumping to open buss. Due to sheer dumb luck things work out so that the game resumes execution as normal. This bug is unavoidable, since the relevant code is responsible for performing an action that is required to proceed in the level. I will let you guys figure out how this is relevant. I just bring the gas tank, you figure out what to do with it.

So, the AI is different on the higher difficulty. That seems like a valid reason to prefer a higher difficulty.

Branches are for separating multiple submissions for the same game. Categories are for finding submissions with a shared element. Searching by category alone is meaningful. Searching by branch alone is not useful. Remember not to confuse categories with identically named branches. So this boils down to "is it meaningful to search for movies that has this attribute?". I say that it is.

I think it is time to add a new category for movies that jump to the ending instead of achieving it normally.
