Great job with this run, it really turned out well. I applaud your patience with the constant desyncing issues, when most people would just give up. The moves had enough variety to keep me watching, and the fatalities were well chosen. I doubt any human player could run though the entire game on hard without getting hit a single time, and for that reason this makes for a truly awesome TAS. easy yes vote.

The movie did not desync for me. I found it to be quite entertaining. Keep up the good work.

For those who can't find the rom it is listed under goodnes as BombSweeper by SnowBro V0.5 (PD). This is a public domain rom i.e. a homebrewed game. I think this falls into similar territory as a hacked game, where by special permission must be granted in order to accept it. I thought the movie was well played regardless, and it could serve as a good walkthrough when played in slow motion. The entertainment value of the run was very low, since 80% of the time is spent tallying the score. Good try but I got to give this a no vote.

Very nice work adelikat! You managed to improve your level one boss time, and you got the tricky spread gun working. I am surprised that the concentration bug worked with just a single rapid fire upgrade. Remember that you will need to pick up a spread gun for player 2 eventually in order to defeat the level 3 boss efficiently. I wonder if the second base will lag like the first one, since dual spread guns are a must for that level. Only mistake I noticed was that player 1 jumped one time too many during the first exploding bridge which cost you a single frame, not that 1 frame really matters anyways.

I enjoyed this movie enough to give it a yes vote. There is no denying the linear nature of the game, but I think Baxter did a good job of providing variety to make it entertaining.

Great job dezbeast! Not only was this movie entertaining, but it was also highly optimized. My favorite part was the boss battles because of how quickly they got destroyed. This is a game I wanted to see done, and now that it is I am happy to see how well it turned out. A very easy yes vote.

This is indeed a very hard game. Though it wouldn't make for a jaw dropping tas, it would be cool to see such a diffuclt game get owned. Have you seen the console speed run at the speed demo arhives yet? It has some good strategies. If I recall correctly some key items have random placement, so luck manipulation would play a huge factor in getting a good time. I am looking forward to see how this runs turns out, good luck.

Wow, that was cool. Very nicely done FractalFusion! I remember when you first posted that strategy, and I was skeptical. You proved it to be a very efficient strategy. I am voting yes, but I don't know if this should obsolete the other monopoly run. Maybe both could be published because they both show different ways of manipulating luck.

Ah, so you can have more than 1 upgrade, that’s good to know. You make a good point about smb3 and mm3, and I fully agree with your decision to use this rom. Anyways, good luck with this run adelikat! I know this game is in good hands.

This is great news adelikat, this game severely needed a new FCE Ultra run. Unlike JXQ, I have a lot to say about this. The 2 player run should obsolete the 1 player run if it is faster. There is no doubt that the two player run is more impressive looking due to increased action on the screen. Synchronizations between the two players are also very cool to see. Now for example, say someone was to complete Contra 3 for the snes using one player but it was slower than the existing Contra 3 two player run, would it be published? Think about it. About using the Japanese rom, I am mostly for it. The graphical upgrades are very noticeable and the decreased cut scene times help keep the momentum of the movie up. The downside is that most roms used on this site are (U), I don’t think changing a game to the (J) version for speed alone is a good enough reason. And by the way is the Japanese title screen shorter than the American? Finally I found a way to improve my level one time by 4 frames. 4 frames are a lot when you consider how close to perfection the level has been completed in. To do this you must put your character on the small ledge right next to the level 1 boss. Put him within 1 frame of falling off the ledge. The frame before you lose control of your character, press right. The character will fall and then jump right inside of the building. This saves an incredible 4 frames. Movie can be found here: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1711/Contra%20%28U%29%20%5B%21%5D%282%29.fcm Oh and I don’t think picking up more than 1 Rapid fire upgrade does anything. You should test this first, since it looks sloppy to collect something that does not do anything for you.

A disappointing score... lol. You broke the game! Looking good like usual. Do you think the 8th and 10th holes could have been reduced to 1 stroke? You came very close to the green on both tee shots. Anyways keep up the good work; I am looking forward to seeing this run completed.

I gotta say that this is shaping up to be a really great run. I was impressed with every par five, and the hole in 1 on the first hole was awesome. I suppose you plan on doing the japan and uk courses too?

I believe 2-1 is the bone dungeon, and it does not contain any graphical errors. I am certain that it would be considerably slower than 2-2 because the fruits are spread out much more. I think the graphical errors in 2-2 are enough reason to reject this run. I will finish this run but it will only be a test run. When a new version of mupen comes out or a new graphic plugin that fixes the problems is released, I will remake the run from scratch.

Nice to hear you are making progress with this run. The 2 stroke improvement over my run sounds pretty cool, I can't wait to see you own the par 5's. Btw, did you decide to go for pure speed or are you allowing for crazy ball movements on the green?

By using left+right, the first owl encounter can be completely avoided. I made a movie of it here

Has anyone else seen these other GE tool assisted runs? http://thengamer.com/GE/24-TAS/ They look very nice, and beat the real world records by a decent amount.

hmm I cannot reproduce it on snes9x, but it works for me using zsnes. To do it, turn off the charge beam and the wave beam. Leave the the ice beam on and the spazer, select the high jump boots and quickly press left and A at the same time to select the plasma beam without turning off the spazer. Shoot your ship and then the game will slow down considerably, hop in and then the game should cut to the scene where the planet explodes.

Activate the murder beam, shoot samus' ship. Hop in the ship and fly away, the credits and percentage screens will show up as normal.

I finally made a music video! Footage from my Chrono Trigger run mixed to the song Cells by The Servant. The video showcases ~10 seconds of footage from each of the 20 boss fights in the game. The first 44 seconds is filler up till the song gets good and then the fights begin. I uploaded it to youtube, check it out here. Tell me what you think, this is the first time I have ever used video editing software.

I have had similar problems using visualboy. Try assigning the buttons to different keys on your keyboard, that worked for me.
