they will, i think about it a lot while i'm actually doing life, so at least there's that. i won't be able to keep my integrity in tact if i don't end up following through with this, i'm a conceited bastard and my ego comes first, so that'll be my motivation since i'm so cool and smart and i want people to know that. </drunk> anyways, yes, i will get a preliminary build up sometime this summer i promise, just glad to know at least one person will care if i do, other than myself anyways =)

sorry i've been tanking on this, between work and summer activities i haven't really touched this much except i decided to change over to using HuGo! again as the codebase because i'd have to change all of the ootake movie code anyways in order to get it working as a viable tas tool and honestly ootake is a mess source wise and gui-wise not to mention it's written using native win32 api, so porting it to other oses would take longer. So far i've only prototyped the functions i need to add and worked added all of the gui elements i'll need in glade as well as drawn up the file format for the movie files. this is a considerable time saver thanks to the original hugo developer sending me his original glade project files so i don't have to rebuild the whole thing in wxwidgets (though i'd like to eventually). i have to travel for work in about a week and while i'm out and about i should have some time to work on it then, i'll keep the status updated in this thread. again, sorry for the delay, but it'll get here sometime =)

well, i just watched this one, and I have to say this, if I had the dedication to achieve something of this caliber, then I would be a completely different person that I am. Regardless of what actually happened on screen didn't even seem to matter while I was watching it, all I could think about was "wtf, i can't believe they actually carried through with this all the way to the end." That said, I didn't quite carry on all the way to the end, but I'm going to go ahead and vote yes simply for admiration of your determination and patience. It's almost like publishing the work of two really hard working scientists who managed to clone the world's first human, only it was a fat chick. I know it's really fucking cool and a testament to your talent, skill, creativity, etc....but i don't really wanna look. That doesn't mean the work shouldn't be documented in some journal for others to learn from and admire.

very awesome indeed, well done. i only noticed a couple of spots that could've maybe been a few frames quicker, but who knows, i could be wrong, i'd definitely vote yes on this one. to submit a tas, read this page first: http://tasvideos.org/SubmissionInstructions.html

"I think we could take up a collection to make it worth his time" are you serious? Why is *this* the run to get paid for doing? I can't stop you from paypal'ing cf to motivate him, but personally i think the community and the content of this site thrives on something other than money, and that's really fucking cool. Donating for hosting and such is one thing, but... *sigh* I dunno, I just think it's a bad trend to start. Onto things more topical, I enjoyed this run and am voting yes... I really hope that Comical Flop finds the motivation to keep working on his, but it's his prerogative; if I really wanted to see a full run badly, I'd do it myself, but I don't think it's my place to demand anything of anyone (a surprising number of posts are exactly this it seems) nor pay someone to do it with anything other than compliments and praise =)

no it's closed source. I like how it says "Most games emulate/run at FULL SPEED with minor glitches, if not, unnoticeable glitches. " but if you check the compatibility list this is far from the case.

ok i've read through most of the code and while it's a bummer that all the comments are in japanese, the code is written well enough that it shouldn't be much of a chore to handle. I've applied for a sourceforge project account and will know in the next two days if it has been accepted, until then I will be poking around and working on porting the interface to wxwidgets. cheers!

meh, after further review, a lot of work should be done on this emulator before adding rerecord support i'm going to port the gui to wxWidgets so it can be cross platform. i'll update my progress in this thread.

well i'm reading through the ootoke source right now, it's definitely a lot closer to having the features we want than HuGo!...I'm gunna see if i can get it to compile tonight, if so I'll post the proposal for the TG-16 movie file format i was working on and get some feedback and then change the built in recording feature of ootake to use that.

Did scorched earth have a one player game? You could do some fun playaround stuff with tools though it's not really tasable

ya i'm sure that bisqwit has that planned for the future, ideally you'd want to put it in dosbox.conf, i'm gunna look at the code now to see if I can just make a quick fix patch for remapping those keys...
For reference, those keys are defined in sdl_mapper.cpp (search for SDLK_f1), except for F9 and F10, which are defined in simkbd.hh (the numbers 67 and 68, which correspond to the scancodes of those keys).
thanks, i'm probably not going to attempt to do this anytime soon, I'd like to get a good grasp on the entire codebase before I go fussing around with your work as well as theirs =).

I'll try to make mouse working. Basically the framework is now there, but the movie file is not yet extended to handle it. And it's not tested.
well, if you need some testers, I'm down for sure. I'll take a look at the source a little bit later in the week when I'm not so swamped with work. I just tried out the windows version and I'm trying to frame advance record the initial input in dos to get frogger running but everytime I try to input a colon it makes a semi-colon, am I just not smart? That's probably the case =)

EDIT: crap i forgot you use the mouse in Abuse, nm back on the search for a suitable test game
