I don't care for it. The driver takes a lot of needless damage, and in really unentertaining ways. Sometimes he just drives into a wall, or misses a jump. Sometimes he falls into the water two, and even three times in a row. I just don't find that entertaining. It looks really unprofessional and unskilled. I enjoy watching people really beat the snot out of games. Even racing games, because it shows off reaction time and skill, which is what you expect from a movie on this site. This run shows a player using some fantastic shortcuts and awesome skills, which he's forced to do because he makes so many mistakes. Given that there are only 3 laps per race, I don't think that aiming for fastest time would be all that boring. Showing off all the shortcuts you can take would look awesome, and it looks like you could probably lap some of the characters in some races, so you wouldn't necessarily go the whole time without seeing them. After seeing how much butt you kicked on Rainbow Road, I said to myself, this could be worth a Yes vote if it was shorter. And by shorter, I mean taking less damage. 43 minutes of taking damage, missing jumps and getting owned just doesn't do it for me.

I agree, but I also don't want someone to create new accounts to vote for their own movie. The number of posts should be reasonably small, but not small enough to make the privilege easy to abuse.

If he'll ignore the fact that I submitted a run of Genesis Super Battleship to prove that someone else's run of Genesis Super Battleship sucked, I'll ignore his submission of a run to see if anyone is interested, despite voting No himself. I approve of FractalFusion's point, but at least it does appear to be well done and meets most, if not all, of the guidelines for submission. This is a friendly forum, so I think it should be possible to post a friendly submission and not have to worry about "forum cops" (not that I'm saying anyone here is a forum cop).

Having never played this game before, I have no idea what I just saw. It looks like there's a pretty extensive map, but I really can't comment on whether or not it was good.

Drugs, drugs, drugs Which are good, which are bad? Drugs, drugs, drugs Ask your mom or ask your dad. If they're going to make a game impossibly hard, at least give infinite lives. What the hell happened in 4-2? That was a 9.0 on my weird-shit-o-meter.

The choice of turtle doesn't matter too much to me. My favorite turtle is Michaelangelo, but I tend to play as Leo.

I'm still interested, but I think it would be interesting if someone would complete the quadrilogy and do TMNT3.

This may be a little out there, but what about buying Fairy Water in Breconary? I assume it prevents you from being attacked by raising your Luck. If you could still manipulate luck to make sure that you get attacked, maybe it would be enough to get the first attack. Erm, let me just check if you can buy it without a key. EDIT: Okay, you need a key. And even if you didn't, you would have to go to Breconary, which is what we're trying to avoid. Yeah, the brain isn't working that well today. The ideas I have left aren't very good, but here goes. You could go to Rimildar first, kill a Goldman and get the key purchase out of the way, assuming that you can kill a Goldman on level 1, which maybe you can't. You would level up, then you could die to return to Tantagel and be all set to fight the Metal Slimes without ever visiting Breconary. Nope, that would require a Herb to get through the swamp. Yeah, never mind. I've got nothing.

Well folks, here comes the exciting part. The petition now has well over 100 signatures, so I've presented it to my contact at Activision. There is still time to sign if anyone else wants to add weight to it, but I want to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this initiative. Now might also be a good time to generate buzz on any other forums you visit, and maybe even to *politely* contact Activision to tell them that you support the initiative and would be more likely to purchase other Activision products if they would throw us a bone on these 30-year-old games. Thanks, and good luck.

What if you healed with herbs during the Axe Knight battle?

If I'm understanding this correctly, everything occurs in the same number of frames, except that NTSC plays at 60 fps and PAL plays at 50 fps. Thus, the game would be 1.2 times longer (60/50) if it were played at 50 fps, so the PAL version would be 1:49. That is, assuming that company logos and menu selection also take the same number of frames to clear. The game portion would be 1:22.8 instead of 1:09. EDIT: Okay, I've just seen the movie. It's so fast I can't even really tell what's going on. I'm not sure that puzzle games of this variety make good TASes, but it certainly looked well done.

Would it be faster if you got the Armor before the Token and then kill yourself in a random encounter?
That was my question. I assume the reason why he gets the Token first is because he needs MP in order to cast Sleep. Being at level 7 increases his strength, but he doesn't gain any HP or MP until he has died, healed, or visited an inn. He would have to fight the Axe Knight without magic and with the HP of a level 1 character, and without proper weapons and armor. I do wonder if it's possible, but the Axe Knight would probably have to miss every turn.

Well done. Less buying, and consequently less fighting of Goldmen, and more use of death has really sped this movie up. It was good to see the Dragonlord fight done entirely with magic. My only question is about the second trip south to get Erdrick's Armor. Is there any possibility of fighting the Metal Slimes, fighting the Axe Knight to get the armor, then getting Erdrick's Token and allowing yourself to die in a fight, or would it be impossible to manipulate a victory against the Axe Knight without Sleep? Either way, I vote Yes.

Very well done. That's a pretty hard game to be beaten that easily.

Okay, the other submission has been removed. Since "classic Battleship" isn't the point of Super Battleship (more like a bonus game), I rescind the submission.

Just got back from Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit. I apologize for posting the run, but I hope it at least gave someone a giggle. Maybe I should have started over when I realized that I only needed 1 re-record.

Beyond any criticism of your choice of game, this clearly isn't played as quickly as possible. You don't take the most direct route to select each target. I would make a faster version, but who would care? Voting No. EDIT: Ah, what the heck. I decided to put my money where my mouth is. Here is my 0:39 submission: http://tasvideos.org/855S.html. It took me 10 re-records because I didn't notice that I only had to die once in order to find the location of the enemy ships.

If it skips you from one level to another then you haven't completed every level, which is the idea of a warpless run. It's for those of us who want to see how quickly a game can be beaten from beginning to end, playing every level from beginning to end.

I can't believe I never noticed this movie. That was hilarious! I had no idea that this was possible. Will it be optimized next April 1? :)

I'm not sure why this gets a star. It was good, but it didn't make my jaw drop. When I watch the other star movies I hear myself saying things like "Holy crap" and "Yeah right!" and "That is just sick". Yes, I really talk like that. But only when I watch TAS movies.

I like feitclub's idea. TheAxeMan had a great blooper reel where he killed off his character in A Boy and His Blob. Lots of amusing deaths are possible. I still like the Dead Mario trick in SM64.

I'm going to attempt a more action oriented game for the next submission. Doint TAS' is kind of addictive :)
Just be aware: It does things to your brain. At first you won't be able to play games imperfectly any more. One mistake and you'll have to start over. Soon you'll be planning the most efficient route when you're buying food at the grocery store. (I'm serious) Then you'll start thinking about the gas you could save if you optimized your route before driving. Then it will be the most efficient way to remove your girlfriend's bra. Life will become an endless quest for optimization and efficiency. Then the dreams start. You'll be playing games in your sleep to get new ideas for your latest TAS. Your friends will hold an intervention, but you won't care. They don't understand. They don't see how the quest for purity benefits mankind. Everything must be perfect. The herd must be thinned! Eventually you can't even see the people any more. Everyone looks 8-bit. People have gloves because their hands are too hard to draw, and a mustache because it shows up better than a mouth. You'll tell your girlfriend that she needs to shave, and it will look she's throwing a fireball at you. But it won't burn. No, it won't burn. That's her slapping you, trying to bring you back to reality. Finally the whitecoats, dressed as ninjas, will strap you to a chair and try to communicate with you. By then you won't need their help any more. All you can hear is the music from Super Mario 1, world 2-2 playing over and over again. You'll enter the Minus World of your mind and be able to play the games without a console. You'll achieve Nintenvana and the perfect bliss of leaving the real world behind and finally seeing the code. All will be a game, and you will have infinite lives. No final boss will ever hurt you again. <Ahem> Just a friendly warning.

I started a Galaga speedrun some time ago. Thing is, the game doesn't end. Perhaps play until the game breaks after level 255? But that would get boring because the levels repeat.
At what point do the levels start repeating? Maybe just a run up to that point, as with Excite Bike, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., and any other games that repeat? I'd definitely like to see it. I started a Galaga speedrun, but figuring out what frame to fire in order to hit each enemy as quickly as possible without any missed shots threatened to do permanent damage to my sanity.

Given that this is 20 seconds faster and is played at the hardest difficulty, I'd say this obsoletes ozort's submission. I give it a Yes.
