I played the hell out of this game back in the day. I was able to beat the game without losing a turtle. Shredder is so predictable, I would beat him without taking damage. I have no idea how you beat Krang so fast, though!

That's my unfamiliarity with the game, then. You can tell that the cars are about to explode in F-Zero X because you can watch the shield drain as they turbo boost.

I wasn't prepared for how boring that would be. It lacked the non-stop action and interaction with other vehicles of F-Zero X, where the ship is constantly about to explode. It lacked the massive shortcuts and 3-second laps of Mario Kart 64. There didn't seem to even be background music until the final lap, so most of it was just silently flying around an empty track and never seemed to be in any peril. The tricks definitely got more impressive in the later races, but the first few races were just tedious and I almost gave up on it. Certainly a No for entertainment, but an impressive TAS in terms of technical quality. I would have put it in the Vault.

Actually, the first question I was wondering was "why would someone make a game based on The Adventures of Tom Sawyer?", followed by "And who would buy it?" During the game my only thoughts were "Seriously, why does this game exist?", eventually followed by "Did Mark Twain write a book where a kid fights a weaponized airship?" and "And an Indian riding a dinosaur?" I may have to finally read this book.

I'm not sure how I missed this submission. Braid is one of my favourite games. Truly a work of art. Really impressive speed improvement. As already mentioned, I had hoped there would be a "6 Stars" run, but someone would have to find a way to speed up or skip the slow-moving cloud.

I don't usually like when a TAS ends input early at the expense of extending the time to Game Over, but watching Simon kick his own ass with a garbage can was hilarious.

Ninja Gaiden II has always been one of my favourite runs on the site. I can't really tell where it's faster, but it's an easy Yes for entertainment.

I like how you used death to respawn on the giant cookie in some levels. This was a lot more entertaining than I expected. Yes vote.

I'm voting No because I think it doesn't differentiate itself enough from the existing run. Also, as arkiandruski said, I'm not convinced that it achieved the goal of low score because of the enemies that were permitted to die. Batman didn't kill them, but maybe they could have been saved. Even if this is a successful low score, I just don't see the point.

Exactly. The author would just have to explain that nothing else in the run contributes to the score. If the score is affected by other factors, like health left at the end of a boss fight, then it would be necessary to take damage to minimize the health bonus. It's not an arduous requirement to explain how points are scored in a game. In this case, the author must explain how points are scored, since we can't observe the score changing just by watching the TAS. Which leads to another question: is low score a reasonable goal for a TAS in which the score is never displayed? You can do low% in Super Metroid because the value is presented at the end of the game. If we never see a score, then how do we know that we just watched a low score run?

I was expecting to see a pacifist run. It turns out that Batman punches almost everyone in the game, but he doesn't kill anyone. He still employs violence, but not deadly force. Weird category.

In the first 19 levels, you miss one of the last two ducks. You mentioned optimizing the spawning of the second duck while you're killing the first. Would it make any difference to kill the second duck and let the first one fly away? I was thinking about how the second controller can be used to control the duck in Game A, which could help it fly away faster if your intention is to miss. That doesn't work in Game B, but I still wondered if it would, nevertheless, be faster to let the first duck make some progress towards the top of the screen while you're running yourself out of ammo and killing the second duck.

I don't see the point of this. It's a very short game which looks less difficult and less interesting that the original. A hack needs to bring something new to the table. This hack got rid of almost all of the good parts of the original. I was bored.

Yes, I know my feedback would have been more useful before the judgment was made. I've been busy with real life lately; I haven't watched a submission in a while. I happened to visit the front page, and I was intrigued when I saw a fighting speedrun in Moons. That's why I watched it, and that's why I commented. It seems like the decision was affected by a lack of feedback during the judging process?

I don't understand why this got Moons. It was the same one-hit fight again and again, except for the penultimate fight -- which was the only one that made me smile -- and the last fighter predictably offed himself. Normally a fighting game speedrun is straight to the vault, so I had to watch this movie to see what was different about it that made it entertaining. The answer was... nothing! Just another boring, repetitive, non-playaround fighting TAS. What gives?

That may actually be the most boring TAS of all time, other than the inherently un-TASable Desert Bus. Drive backwards and push robots into the pit again and again and again. Towards the end, a few vehicles drove themselves into the pit, or put up a bit of a fight on the way into the pit. Good thing it was only 5 minutes. Definitely vaultable but, entertainment-wise, that was my easiest No vote ever. Love the Craig Charles version of the show, though!

This looked the same as the 1P version, but with more lag. I only noticed two places where it looked different prior to the boss fight. I was kind of disappointed that 1P offed himself during the boss fight. I wanted to see Billy and Jimmy fight each for the girl! Anyway, it's a solid Meh.

A quarter of an hour of five straight single-hit knock downs. Then they start showing CPU vs. CPU fights that actually look like fights, featuring such things as combos and knock outs. Finally, in the very last fight, they throw out the rules and just have an all-out brawl. That was a loooong wait to get to that payoff. Yeah, vault this baby. That was ultra boring until the very end.

The whole time I was watching this, I was thinking, "I know that the Uzebox isn't a powerful computer, but it can't compete with a 1.79 MHz Ricoh 2A03 from 1982?" Then I found an online Uzebox emulator and a bunch of games that don't suck. Check out this faithful Donkey Kong port. How about this Dr. Mario port? Or Pacman? It's not that the hardware can't make a decent Mario clone; this is just a badly made game. Hell, check out the graphics in this Super Mario World WIP! It looks like you picked the worst Uzebox game for your TAS. It's ugly and boring. For entertainment, it's an easy No vote.
