That said, since the previous run was good enough for Moons, why would this run, which is just basically the same except ten seconds faster, not be? Why would this run have to be 'downgraded' compared to the previous run?
That's what I'm saying: the previous run wasn't good enough for Moons!

No, he's absolutely right. I had intended to write the following comment about the previous run's submission: "Why would you cost yourself frames in order to show off a glitch? This is obviously a Vault run, so anyone will be able to obsolete your run just by removing those wasted frames. The glitch isn't that impressive that it's worth losing frames over." I never did, and then my jaw dropped when I saw that it was published non-Vault. The cut scenes and walking to the mini-games take longer than the action, and the "action" is just four boring mini-games. The previous run should never have been published outside of the Vault and, barring some amazing glitch (ideally one that skips almost all of the cutscenes), there is probably nothing that you or anyone else can do to make it entertaining. I second the motion to downgrade.

Way better than the glitchless run. Glitching around really breaks up the monotony of the other run. Finally something other than "head right, shoot anything that moves". Yes vote.

Head right, shoot anything that moves. A good TAS of a boring game.

I find the graphics a lot prettier than the NES version, but then the background jerks across the screen. That's unacceptably horrible! The run looks very good, though. Too bad your total ownage of the game moves the background faster and really draws attention to that shortcoming of the game.

It's the same question as how you would treat an Ocarina of Time Master Quest TAS. Master Quest was only released for the GameCube, but it was an N64 ROM running in an emulator. The key words here are "N64 ROM". If it's an N64 ROM, it's an N64 game. NES ROM, NES game. Not complicated, is it?

Well I enjoyed it. I've been a fan of Fantasy Zone games since I first played the original on a Turbo Grafx 16. These are hard games, so I appreciate how much ass is being kicked in the levels, and the boss fights are just beatdowns. The levels may not be action packed, but they don't last very long, and then you get to those sweet boss fights. I vote Yes.

I loved Samurai Pizza Cats! I had no idea there was a video game that never made it to North America. It's hard to tell without playing it, but it looks like it sucks about a thousand times less balls than the Transformers game that never made it to North America. It reminds me more of Mega Man than Ninja Gaiden, though. It's cool that you can even play as members of the Rescue Team, though Bat Cat kind of stole the show. I definitely saw Meowzma and Spritz, but I'm not sure if I saw General Catton. From the main team, Speedy and Polly were obvious, but I'm not sure if I saw Guido. I love that the bosses are giant mechs, as well as the Big Cheese and, I think, Bad Bird. That was seriously nostaglic, and just an entertaining TAS in general. Easy yes vote, even though it no longer needs it.

Finally another improvement to the weirdest TAS on the site! I love it! I'm not a big fan of the jellybean scrolling either, but the TAS itself looks solid.

That was surprisingly fast! Nice job! I like that the game ended with a WTF moment.

An N64 version of the electrified wire loop carnival game. That concept was clearly not going to be very entertaining, since it lacks none of the elements of a traditional game. There's barely anything to see, but lots of annoying voices to hear! Definitely a TAS to watch on mute. A definite No for entertainment.

I've been waiting for this run, but the YouTube video definitely looks too fast. I would never have gotten very far if gameplay was that fast.

That looks like a pretty good game! It reminded me of Ninja Gaiden. Other than the fact that the SNES was probably reducing demand for NES games, I can't see why this wasn't released. I was entertained and I give it a Yes!

Catastrophe is right. Whoever wrote that must have thought that the US FF2 was the Japanese FF2 and that FF3, 4 and 5 were only released in Japan, but our FF2 was a SNES game, not the Japanese NES game. It should say: "Final Fantasy III was the second consecutive Final Fantasy game to be released only in Japan, leading to the fourth game in the series being released to the rest of the world as Final Fantasy II." The conversion, for those following along at home is: FF1 -> FF1 FF2 -> N/A FF3 -> N/A FF4 -> FF2 FF5 -> N/A FF6 -> FF3

Other than saving a few frames on the selection screen, was there any advantage to not setting the language to English? I see that the author is from France.

That got old pretty fast. Quite unusually, this game is much more fun to play than to watch getting its butt kicked.

This was a lot better than I thought a 1 player version would be. I expected to see a lot of time spent going to the enemies or waiting for them to come to you, but I really only noticed that on Floor 35. The run was really fast from beginning to end. Easy Yes vote. Soig: Please do a Genesis run. The graphics are much closer to the arcade version. I've always preferred the Genesis version.

As someone unfamiliar with the game, that was intensely boring. I forced myself to watch the whole thing, but it just appeared to be moving back and forth between rooms, often with the character not even in the room for long periods of time. I thought that my patience was finally going to be rewarded during the big boss fight near the end, but it just dragged on and on and we mostly only saw the very edge of the room the whole time. Then back to moving between rooms for a few more minutes until it was finally over. I must say, if this run exploits glitches to avoid having to fight anything or do anything, skip the glitches and just fight something or do something!

Isn't that because it's more accurate than 0.9.7? You can choose a ROM revision that benefits you, but you shouldn't cherry pick an emulator that benefits you through inaccurate emulation! Always choose the most accurate emulator available.

I love Bejewelled and I was psyched when I saw this run on the list. I saw a lot of fast gem switching, but I was expecting to see luck manipulation/future foretelling used to make a single move that creates a massive chain reaction that completes the entire level. The huge super hyper ultra mega chain reactions in Puyo Puyo-type games are the most exciting part. Hundreds of small moves are way less interesting than a small number of incredibly massive chain reactions. The increasingly bemused narrators' voice going "Good...Excellent!...Incredible!!...Unbelievable!!!" (or however it goes) would have been funny. Fast gem switching is just too easy in a TAS. When it comes to chain reaction games, go big or go home. I gave it a Meh vote.

If not for the fact that SMB1 was already over, I would have loved for the screenshot of the run to be anywhere from about 10:19 to 10:23 when you were taking on two Bowsers and Wort at the same time! (Even if one of the Bowsers was fake.) I enjoyed this movie a lot more than I've ever enjoyed a multi-run of more than 2 games, which I usually find too difficult to watch because you don't just have a side-by-side comparison. I still lost track of one game or another throughout the run, but I enjoyed it anyway. I agree with the notion that it would have been cool if SMB1 had gone into hard mode after it finished. It's been pointed out that it would have made the TAS longer, presumably because there wouldn't have been time to complete it before the other three games finished and, of course, the need to play sub-optimally in the other three games. On the first point, I would point out that you don't have to start hard mode in World 1; you could choose to start in whatever world you have time to beat the game again before the other three games finish.

I tried, but I simply could not watch the whole thing. There's only so long I can watch Garfield running straight to the right while hitting mice, frogs and spiders before it starts to become cruel and unusual punishment. Even the boss fights were boring. Clearly a very well TASed run of a very boring game.
