i was just moderately leary becuase i dont want it to mess up anything. like, change a resolution, or make me play computer hide-and-seek to find out what was happened or anything weird like that. edit: this is what im talking about. before Gens is run. after Gens is run.

whenever i run my Gens, my monitor flashes, all my desktop icons disappear and reappear, THEN Gens runs. but while its running, my winzip icons change from the regular light blue to a redish color. then when i close Gens, it does the same flashing thing. does this happen to any of you? is this normal? is it messing with or hurting my video card/ computer/ anything? sorry, but im just a computer paranoid person. its the source of 75% of my entertainment, as nerdy as that sounds.

if youre talking about the CHD file, yes, i have that and it still wont run. i get to the screen where it makes me type "ok", then i hit my enter button, and then my screen goes black and returns to my desktop.

ok, ive almost mastered the art-of-the-emulator but i still cant figure out how to get MAME, the arcade emulator, to work. ive tried downloading it from the official site, but i get a command prompt application that doesnt even work becuase its missing files or something. could someone who has a working copy of MAME post a link to it, or just tell me where the "documentation" is that its not finding. and is there a non-command prompt version? EDIT: ive gotten MAME32 to work, but are any of you able to get killer instinct and killer instinct 2 to work? i have al the right files, im just doing something wrong with them.

i mean, if i REALLY just wanted freelook and jump, i'd play cs all the time. this doom offers a little of the old with a little of the new. it brings an old classic into the future without losing its roots. THAT is what i like about this doom. but i'll check out those games. thx boco.

please dont call it terrible until youve played it. just becuase one screen shot is not amazing, doesnt mean the game sucks. classic doom is much better with jumping and freelook capabilities. and, how can you say the models suck? i mean...honestly. the old models had like 3 frames of animation. at least these are somewhere in the ballpark of 3-d

what i have to say is simple, so im just going to say it. people, when you submit movies, PLEASE dont put anything like "i think/know this can be done better...." becuase you might as well follow that with "becuase im too lazy to fix it" or "and i dont care". if you think you can do something better, do it BEFORE submitting. it sucks watching crappy time attacks, and im sure it makes decision making a hell of a lot easier on bisqwit if you fix your mistakes beforehand.

never mind, i got it working. simply amazing. that was the way doom was MEANT to be played....even with the old codes. brilliant. i love the way the bfg looks. LOVE IT. hexen looks equally awesome, but the model pack doesnt have weapons and some environment elements.

i dont like the fact that the recording shortcut keys are permanently bound to specific keys / key combinations. shift +F# is a horrible way to save state, especially when you use WASD to move. i was wondering if there are any programming-savvy people out there *cough* blip *cough* that could edit an open-source snes9x to have a binding option for this. i saw this kind of editing stuff in the famtasia 60 fps hack thread, so i figured it was a good idea and just might be possible.

I, for one, would be all for this kind of competition. theres a story to this...let me explain. when i was a young lad of only 10 or so years, there was a competition at my local blockbuster. who could get the most points in DKC for snes or Judge Dredd for genesis. after a lot of strategy building / stealing from the other players, it was finally my turn to play. i had been practicing for at least a month to win those free rentals and i thought i was ready. but i DIED on the third level because of a misjudged jump..... i lost by 28 bananas that day. im nearly 19 now.....and im still scarred by my 28 banana incident. i could / should have done so much better.

Speaking of Contra... While the submissions looked at and processed, I would love some feedback from this. Especially from bisqwit / phil / genisto Non-violent contra run. i kill no enemys, at all. and i only use the regular bullets and R powerups. might sound boring to watch, but its not. i promise. ive watched my own time attack like 5 times already, i love it. http://www.geocities.com/krieg747/Kriegs_3rd_Non-Violent_contra_run.zip
