Just tested Mario Party 3(.z64), strangely enough, it runs fine normally but whenever you record a movie Mupen freezes.

Yeah, but then we could possibly skip DDD.

Yes, that sucks, but it would suck even more if it was your tas that got rejected. What a paradox that must be!

Hmm ... is MIPs solid or partially solid? If it is the former then maybe we can drop him somewhere so that he forms a low ceiling from which Mario can BLJ.

Not a bad idea ... could free up space for another system.

Mines don't exist in FE8. There is a glitch where if you reset on some specific frame after an enemy moves, you can control the enemies, though I didn't use it because it would make the run completely pointless.
But a tas is supposed to do unexpected things, and utilizing this glitch smoothly will certainly give the impression of that.

The problem is that those tases don't become official until published by this site, and out of the many viewers there are some who know this site and question the video's validity.

well, the way he said it made it sound like as long as he can view it correctly then all is fine and dandy.

Well, if it keeps desynching, the encoders will never get it published, you know?

Just make backups of important saves you don't want to overwrite by accident.

But when the luck deals with people you can't even see on-screen, it's going to be extremely hard to determine which input affects what and so forth.

I'm not sure if the tas can beat the elite's records, since many of them spend hours every day playing and a lot of the levels are extremely luck-based (the hostages in frigate, for example)

Does FCEU has a "show input" function?

Virtualdub is nice, it's free and simple to use. Avisynth has more powerful functions, but is harder to use.

You were working on a test too? o_O that's freaky. They changed a lot of the levels in the N64 port, so I can't really look to the PC run for tips. I was using Jabo 1.6 video and NRage 1.83 for input, and it didn't desynch. If the later levels are as boring, I'll have to cancel it.

So if you've used one, why not use them all?

Here's a test run of Quake 2, I didn't want to create another thread because I wasn't sure if I was going to commit to it. Personally I'm concerned that it looks too much like the Duke Nukem run and not interesting enough. It also looks like bunnyhopping doesn't work in this game, because you can't jump as soon as you land. What are your thoughts?

3) Lobby Glitch to Bowser2 (or DDD)
I don't think the lobby glitch can send you going downwards, IIRC if you hit some stairs that are going down, you just fly over them, instead of going down the stairs at hyperspeed.

You can glitch through the door, but the second floor won't load until you've beaten Bowser 2.

I find that using a frame counter to time the button presses is extremely helpful, and it also saves the trouble of repeatedly redoing an action because you can't remember on which frame you pressed a button.

Why would it not be TAS material? The ALttP run uses a glitch that beats the game in 4 minutes, and it shows how a TAS can do humanly impossible things, a goal this site strives for.
