Speaking of recording problems, it seems that whenever I open a movie file (without read-only checked) and then load a savestate, mupen doesn't rerecord from that savestate. In fact, it only records if I don't open a movie file. Is there a way around this problem?

I've been noticing this for a long time, so MOST LIKELY TO MAKE A SUBTLE SPELLING MISTAKE AWARD GOES TO: AKA. If you skim over his posts they look just normal, but when you look at them carefully ...

I dunno, I thought most of them were on-topic. But he makes it seem like TASing is his job.

SPAMMIEST MEMBER AWARD GOES TO: comicalflop. I could've sworn he had 700 posts just a month ago.

Wyster, is there a way you could make avi's of the wips? I'm pretty sure I have the exact same rom and plugins, but it keeps desynching. I've only beaten the game on Agent, so I don't know how much help I could provide.

It's quite easy to make Pikachu up+B to death but very unlikely that it would take only 2 seconds since pikachu falls down slowly after he finishes the up+B move.

Ok, I confess: I've been using TSA's 4:57 run as a video walkthrough most of the time. Only recently have I really begun exploring the world of OoT.

Using bomb hovers? Well I guess that could work, as long as you have the big bomb bag. EDIT: wait a minute ... don't you need the spirit medallion to get the "sheik unveiled" cutscene, or is that cutscene not necessary for Ganon's castle to appear?

You can skip those? I thought the rainbow bridge cutscene couldn't start until you have both medallions. So Forest is the only one needed?

Just wondering, besides the shadow block skip and deku tree trick, what accounted for the 30+ min saved over the previous run?

@change1: All you need is mupen, the rom, and the movie file. All the plugins should already be in mupen.

Not really, only a few (very vocal) people do.

Actually, the clearest goal in this run is to achieve the maximum "points per frame", so getting the absolute highest score would result in a lower PPF since you have to wait a lot longer to get the score. That being said, I think comicalflop's 81.4 PPF is pretty optimized at the moment. EDIT: When I say "points per frame" I mean taking the total points at the end and dividing it by the number of frames in the movie.

for example there's arwing clear, pokemon clear, and the booby trap bonus, although the last two require items which means you can't get it until at least 20 seconds into the fight.

Going for absolute highest score would destroy the entertainment value since there are many bonuses that don't show up unless you wait over a minute into the fight.

Try using a different version of the ROM. Mupen tends to have more graphics issues than PJ64.

- The screen where Giant DK dies after 5 seconds - The screen where metal mario dies in 2 seconds - The screen where pikachu dies in two seconds - The screen where fox jetpacks over you to his doom - The screen where you do the up + B right before Link dies - The screen where you kill a lot of yoshis using up + B

In SSB attacks do the same damage no matter how many times you use it.

Against master hand, do the jump + Down A attack as many times as you can, then when he goes into attack mode do a rock drop (while you're inside him). Cancel out of rock as soon as soon as he's past you, rinse and repeat. Another strategy, although I'm unsure whether it'll work every time, is to use jump + Down A or jump + Forward A attacks continuously, since when master hand goes into attack mode there's a small area where you can attack him and not get hurt. If he does one of his "come from background to hit you" attacks just use the rock drop on him as he flies by and then go back to jump + Down A attacks.

you don't get the special triple jump until you have 120 stars, so I don't think a TAS could implement it.

I would like to see it, but this time make it pure speed since you don't get any points from it. It would be sort of like an encore.

the non-TAS world record for high score. I thought I saw 2.3 mil on some website, but that seems excessive.

Very nice. BTW, what is the non-TAS world record for Kirby? I remember it was somewhere in this thread but I couldn't find it.
