the bonus is still the same since it doesn't cross a second.

I don't believe it's possible to pacifist the kirby team and get kirby ranks at the same time. They're just too good at making it back, just like the mario bros. You might want to use the yoshi strategy against the kirby team.

over 2000 people have officially achieved the 4 minute mile (and many more unofficially) but only one has beaten SM in 32 min I don't see 2000 people beating SM in 32 min anytime soon.

very nice, much faster than making him Up+B to his death.

i just noticed that you get 10 points for every 1% damage you do to the opponents, maybe there is a way to take advantage of this in the run?

i noticed in your fight against link he did the whirlwind before he died, which costed you a second, do you think with manipulation he could simply drop down and die like he's supposed to?

once you play a minigame in story mode, it will be unlocked in the minigame room. But there's no guarantee that you'll come across every minigame in story mode.

There's a minigame room where you can choose to play any minigame, as long as they're unlocked. But having them already unlocked means I have to start recording from a savestate, which is not accepted.

just wondering, if you did the run on easy or very easy and got pacifist for every level, would it add up to be more than the "very hard clear" bonus? It could be hard getting the speed demon bonus if you pacifist every level.

i mean at mario bros. It would be quite a feat, getting brothers calamity, true friend, and pacifist all at once. EDIT: if it drives you insane trying to get it, then just move on.

@Fabian: you never gave a reason for why it was bad. I think it is quite fitting considering it's unusuality. Why not the one where young link meets sheik?

Ctrl+F5 Then when you load the movie file make sure you have "open read only" checked, then load the save state with Ctrl+F7

I'm talking about mario party 3, not mario party 1 here. EDIT: and I meant minigame runs by themselves aren't allowed

the problem is that the minigames only constitute part of the game, so they can't be accepted.

even if the story mode is turn based, the minigames are where the speed comes in. I'll have to admit that it can get very boring if I play the same set of games over and over just to get a faster time (I don't believe it lets you play the same minigame twice) BTW, are minigame runs even acceptable? Wouldn't that mean I would have to provide a savestate for each one?

I think this would be a good game to TAS, and I might attempt a story mode run on hard difficulty next semester. There are some major questions to consider: 1) what determines the starting location of the stars on the map and the order in which they appear? 2) use all minigames or only the easy ones? 3) which minigames would be fastest to complete? 4) Is it faster to buy stars or steal them using Boo/chance time? 5) which partner would be most useful during the duels? 6) Is it beneficial to move 10 steps every turn? 7) can you manipulate the items Toad/baby Bowser give you after you answer their question? 8) Would buying the magic lamp, getting 20 coins and then using the lamp be any faster than just getting 20 coins and reaching the star? 9) Where are the locations of the spots where, if you land on them, they give you an item, and can you manipulate them to give you a star every time? 10) Does the emulation encounter frequent desynchs? Any comments or opinions?

of course, the lobby glitch will be used much more extensively if someone decides to make an improvement.

here's the link strategy on giant DK http://download.yousendit.com/AA033FED30B16994 I recorded it off of PJ64 with fraps, so it only runs at half speed. pacifist and DK perfect is obtained as well. it could be faster since I shielded DK's first hit, so in your run you could manipulate him to stand still. another strategy is to just run right off the right side and sometimes he'll follow you and do his up+B move. However, a lot of times he makes it back to the main platform, so that requires more manipulation

i don't know much about the mario bros battle, but for pikachu it's really easy to get pacifist since his up+B move is so inaccurate. I believe 4:55 is achieveable with some manipulation. For Giant DK are you using the same strategy from link's level?

you can definitely pacifist link and yoshi team.
so for Link you make him whirlwind off the stage? Yoshi team would take too long to pacifist.
