If you're using a triple jump + wall kick to get the star, you want to wall kick off the side (on the left) that's slanted slightly away, so you don't get so much momentum off the kick. When I did it, I had to push the control stick all the way down in order for Mario to land in the cage. However, one time I managed to make Mario land directly on the star after the wall kick, but that was just luck. I couldn't ever do it again.

I'm using the same Mupen and rom ... I don't understand why it doesn't work.

What are your expectations for the final time? Since the other TAS was 16:07 and new tricks have been discovered since then I'm guessing 15:40-15:50

Basically right as soon as you gain control of the character. What version of Mupen are you using?

that's because, as I said in my first post in reply to you, that you have to use the 'Save State' option after using the 'Save As..' option. doesn't make sense, but that's how it is. I had to find that out myself too. once you have given it the filename you want to save it as, the save state option will use that and thus then it should be made and able to be loaded.
Thanks, now I can play movies back from savestates. The only problem? The character moves around in circles and doesn't do anything. Desync maybe?

That's the problem ... when I use "save as" I name the save file, say, rayman2 for example, and when I use "load as" it doesn't show up at all in the folder I saved it in.

I tried that, but then it doesn't let me load the savestate.

I clicked the movie playback option, then selected "open read-only", but when I loaded the savestate the movie still didn't play back. Or is it when you load the rom, you have to select "open as read-only"?

Is it just me, or that whenever I make a savestate during the movie (so I don't have to watch the intro every time) the movie doesn't play back when I reload the savestate? Is it because I have the wrong rom? I'm using Rayman 2 - The Great Escape (U) [!].z64

Looks very good, but it seemed to me like when you were going for the second star in BBB, you entered the painting at an angle? PS: I am amazed at how you know so much about zelda and making TASes.

That too bad ... his YI runs were the craziest ever. I saw his last WIP at SDA and that had me thinking he was still working on it.

It'll be a very long TAS, since technically you have to get 100% just to finish the game.

Actually, you can make it to the star in the cage using a triple-jump + wall kick Here's a video of it. http://download.yousendit.com/8A30FA7D6341AFBE So what you can do is a triple-jump + wall kick to get to the green platform, then use another triple-jump + wall kick to get the star.

why not a triple-jump + wall kick to get on the green platform, then a triple-jump + dive to get into the cage?

He doesn't mean the last star of the run, just the last star of the WIP (which might be star #1 or #2)

I believe the link is broken.

Maybe get pacifist on every level where you only fight one guy?

Good work AKA, but I thought there was a moment in the Bowser level where Mario just stalls for a split second. Could just be my imagination, though.

If anyone could provide a save state on Mupen with the lobby glitch already performed so I could test out all the range of possibiltes I could do with the BLJ's.
Here's one from the right side and one from the left side Recorded in Mupen 0.5.1, I don't know if that makes a difference

So, if you use this in your 16-star run, not only could you get to Bowser quickly and before 8 stars, you could get anywhere else in the lobby with zero stars and no opening door sequence.
So does this mean you can beat the game with 0 stars or that you can enter any level with 0 stars?

Holy crap it works! The thing that tripped me up was that I forgot to assign each button to a function. Now time for some OoT :) Thanks a lot, bkDJ EDIT: Something strange is going on. Even with a deadzone of 0%, the emulator barely registers any joystick input.

Yes, it shows up in the control panel. However, when I loaded up Project64, it wouldn't work with Adaptoid Plugin v1.0 or N-Rage's Direct-Input8 V2 1.80a. When I loaded up Mupen, it wouldn't work with N-Rage's Direct-Input8 V2 1.82a. Is there a custom plugin that I have to download?

I've tried every plugin that comes with Project64 and Mupen, not just the keyboard input ones. And none of them work.
