Sorry for double posting, but Mupen finally works right(for the moment). I had 2 Mupens downloaded(1 had problems, so I redownloaded) and finally got rid of the bad one. Now it's working fine, but will post if I'm having problems again. Edit: Every once in a while, I'll get the Direct3D error message I posted above, but it seems completely random. The only connection I can draw is that it always happens when I don't expect it. Anyways, Mupen is working fine most of the time now, so that means a possible TAS in the near future ;)

I'm sorry, but I suck with computers. How do I do that? Also, I just got a new ROM(Mario 64) and it has the same problem. So I think that says that it's not the ROMs that are the problem. Edit:@ThatGugaWhoPlay, I have that version and did the copy framebuffer to RDRAM in the advanced options, but it doesn't work. Maybe I'll try re-downloading it, but idk if it will work. It can't hurt to try that. Re-edit: I tried, but got the black screen again.

Ok, I tried running Mupen today, and got the black screen while the game ran. Then, I tried v1.5.2, and it worked perfectly except one thing(the reason I need 1.6), I had the pause bug where the the pause screen takes, like, 10x longer to open(not literal, more like 2-3x) Anyways, what's wrong with it and how do I fix it? @ALAKTORN, lol, does it really never work well? I figured it was just me. Anyways, still can't start yet because of the pause bug that I need jabo's direct blah blah 1.6 to fix.

Yeah, I did do that now, but I have another problem. After a day or 2 of Mupen working right, it suddenly wouldn't show video anymore. I can hear the game playing, and can do inputs, but just have a black screen to work with. I am using Jabo's Direct3D8 1.6 which is what I was told was good, but it seems to have a problem. Either this happens, or I'll get an error message saying "Direct3D failed to initialize Error code:8876086AD3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE" Please help me or just let me know that I don't belong trying to TAS if Mupen is going to give me this much trouble to deal with.

After walking away from the computer and spending time with my mom for mother's day, I came back to find that Mupen was working perfectly. And I got all my plugins working and found the frame advance button, so I'm good. Can finally start my TASes worry free *knocks on wood*

I don't have any other ROMs, so I can't try another ROM, but I'm trying to see if that video plugin I wrote before will work. However, I can't find a download for it. Anyone know where I can find it?

Aslo, I heard that Jabo's Direct3d8 v1.6 is good. Would downloading that help? if so, where can I find it? I've been searching for it but can't find a place to download it.

Edit by FractalFusion: Merged topics and deleted duplicate posts. ---- I just downloaded Mupen64 yesterday on my Vista to get used to TASing Ocarina of Time. After a while, I finally found the TAS input plugin 0.6(didn't come with the Mupen I downloaded for some reason.) Anyways, after I installed the TAS input plugin, Mupen would crash every time I tried to run Ocarina of Time and blame it on the video plugin, which I have 3 of: Direct64 v0.5.03.25, Glide64 v0.8 Wonder, and glN64 v0.4.1. What's my problem? Is it Vista? Is it Mupen? Is it the video plugin? What do I need to do?
