Serious attempt: Four minutes done. Gained 5 secs and 28 frames. In a way I'm a bad TAS:er, since I haven't figured out how randomness works in this game. It would save 1½ seconds if first boss wouldn't make that one jump.

Oh, and the reason for lack of progress is that I am absolutely DREADING battle 20. If you watched the last one, I ended up taking 3 attacks, and the high priest went running away :( It is a retardedly hard battle to optimize, and no monster dying ends the battle.
Well, maybe battles 20 and 22 are toughest but there others should be much easier . It's a kind of downhill after those :)

What decision? Tell me MOAR buddy. (Do you mean not killing Bleu?) And gmv:s even after one battle advancement could make our days nicer. I've begun to wait these already as much as Claymore subs.

Run is now complete in 50:29 and I have to ask is it worth optimizing and submitting? Quality drops in Forest Shrine and there weree also mistakes before that. So about 60-70 seconds faster is possible. The link is in the first post.

Are you !@#!%ing kidding me? That changes the entire battle, if it is true!!!!! EDIT: It does work. Damnit. Thank you, that is an amazing find.
Well, I did it in my lousy TAS. So there was something good in that afterall :)

My bad, I meant Turbo pepper which increases movement.

Also remember, each battle takes 2-5 hours to do, so it would take literally YEARS to absolutely perfect this run.
Nah, I feel you can do it right away :p

DarkKobold, can the Durahan be killed faster than those two other enemies before you enter Dragonia (Kane's town)? That would also end the battle, if you didn't know. Do you try to sink Kane with one swing? Have you checked if it's even possible(max attack w/ Blbr and Pelle). Btw, where are the two other power potions after 1st chapter? Can't remember even I have played so many times... :/ After the run is complete we see if Legs of Haste or Mobility ring would have been needed. Impossible to say yet, right.

Allright, since this is TAS the characters are not going to get high levels. So wouldn't it be better to promote them ...when they still can do enough damage just after promotion, ...because the stat boosts seem to be much higher after promotion compared to 10+ non-promotion levels. Lets say your character would be at lvl16 (promoted at 10) in last battle, so wouldn't he have (a lot)higher stats than lvl12 (promoted at 14) Because you say the stats are fixed, could the level-ups be manipulated in a way where you get one or more stats maxed at a time. And if you could get defense/hp/mp gains as rarely as possible. Gort got +6 in defense stat in Kane battle, so perhaps you are doing it that way?

Why you need to install WinXP for new CPU? Or do you mean you got new motherboard and CPU? Maybe you have S-ATA Harddisk and don't have drivers included in WinXP bootable CD? In that case you need S-ATA drivers on floppy disk.

Do you still have your old run? Do you happen to know if magic damage can critical?
Of course I have. I spent so much time with my favourite game so wouldn't it be waste to lose the file :D But because it's so awful compared to yours I won't show it, instead I checked up to 2ch last battle to see Anri perform a deadly attack with blaze lvl1. It did only 10dmg compared to normal 7-8, so I don't know if magical DA is nearly as effective as deadly melee attack. I haven't watched your update but now I'm going to have good time with it :) thanksagain!

Moving Gort takes a few extra frames than the cursor. However when you add the 3 times it takes to move the cursor to him, it may make it faster by a few frames. I really should test this.... doh.
I suppose it's worth moving Gort two blocks towards battle.

How come there's no topic on this puzzle? I saw a topic on another forum and had to show it to you :) Homepage First one to solve this puzzle wins $2M. Eternity1 was solved in 7 months [picture]. This second, harder version, was released over two weeks ago. Maybe someone has already bought this?

1. Laser Eye has a countdown and fires every 8(?) turns every creature it sees. 2. That depends on how large the Force has to be in each battle, giving enemies no more turns that is necessary. I wouldn't worry about early promotions of Max if he can gain strength boosts in level ups. DarkKobold has been amazingly fast, soon it's already Kane-time. And he's no bird-food, if you know what I mean ;)

Are they fixed to frames where battle begins or what? I could manipulate a little when I played without frame advance. So if you waste like one frame before entering a batte and could get +2 to attack it would pay off somewhere... edit: nevermind, didn't read the levels are fixed.

ZeXr0: I think the characters should be leveled up to increase their attack so they do enough damage with criticals. I don't think buying weapons helps (yet, perhaps later) unless you can't manipulate raising attack power on level ups. After all, why to have more attack than is necessary? All those extra items probably waste more time than they gain, I suppose.

Great! This is what I have been waiting most. My non-serious attempt took 5:25 (I suck at luck manipulation) but we'll see if you can go under 3 hours. It will be a hell of a work but best luck and hopefully you have lots of free time :D Waiting to see Sword of Light's "Bolt 2 madness" :o~ Oh, and save state after each chapter would be a nice service. edit: You managed to escape town earlier. I wondered in your first try if that was done half-heartedly...

Italy created much more scoring chances against Germany and earned their victory. It was surprising to see an attacking Italian squad in this tournament as they are known mainly for defensive play. Therefore I hope Italy wins with their new more active style.

New run is catching the old one. 11½ minutes played and almost 42 seconds improved. Little improvement in almost every area, but two-gargoyle-fight in boat was again slower than in first run. And there has been few places where two frames has vanished mysteriously somewhere :O

Sorry Atma, I'll still stick with 3 buttons. I don't believe it would benefit more than 1-2 seconds. After 2nd boss new run is 22 seconds ahead of 1st run. My first run looks so crappy now ;) Only disappointment was first boss, which was done 42 frames faster in first run. I just didn't want to spend time finding a faster way.

I just realized that if you press jump button when you are dropping down from a ledge, you save about 20 frames. Landing point seems to be different since I can't hex edit it correctly. I'm quite noob at it :( edit: Since hex editing can't be done in jumping places, I started from beginning and gained 6 seconds before first boss :) Now I just have to manipulate the boss not to jump, which is tough.

Now a little over 12 minutes. There a lots of places where I can later improve by hex editing, harbour fight for example, can be done maybe 100 frames faster.

Updated the file in link. Now over 9 minutes... advancing slowly ;) Something about the game: Running. When you have to run a small distance it's best to run for 13-15 frames, stand for one frame and run again. If you run longer, the skidding takes a lot of time after you stop running. Activating switch at about 7:44 is normally done with bow you can find in chest in upper screen. I instead used Dytto's hurricane which is the other way to go over the small wall. Titans are tough to kill without stronger swords. You have to break their shield to get "Oasis Rage" combo work (tapping attack button). Oh, does somebody know if the weapons can be changed on the fly with mode button? I read something like that on GameFaqs, but there's no mode-key in Gens 9c.

This game takes lots of time in optimizing and even I have already spent lots of time with my first attempt, it can be made even better. The fights at least. Here's my first 6 minutes. If you know big time-savers share your knowledge :) edit: Oh, I've been here already a year :O
