Solution found : - My .cfg file is needed. Inside of this archive is my gens.cfg and the original unmodified version to revert back to normal after playback. http://www26.zippyshare.com/v/58950389/file.html ____________________________ Cause : - My .cfg file was altered in the sense that the xbox 360's start button was set as frame advance, the default .cfg file is what made the movie desync, i thought the key was actually mapped to keyboard input using xpadder, however that's a definite nope this time around. Hopefully this issues been set straight -_- complete oversight on my part. Much appology.

If this hasn't been done i've got a normal mode run already done, it's not bad at all. I'll up it if you guys really want, but i dunno if it's worth it since i already dwarfed it. The major one is about 80% done, that was on hard mode, and overall just a lot better, for all intents and purposes, it could be a formidable record to conquer. Should have that done in an hour or 2

Definitely more of a test run. I was set on a no damage element, i thought i might have jumped into the deep end with this one, i appreciate the feedback, i know what you guys are looking for now.

Interesting topic this one, because genesis debugging seems to be quite difficult to do. I found exodus a way back, it appears to be the only one with real time memory editing capabilities, only drawback is that its amazingly slow. The only other way to mess around with the RAM values is to use hex editors, but i've found that to be a bit random, i hope exodus becomes faster in the future.

I'm fairly confident that this one's not unknown. So i'm wondering, what's up with TASing this one? There's a few vids on YT that are saying it's a TAS run, i'm wondering how it's done, standing corrected on a previous note by all means, i figured using a dev console to slow games down and then video editing to speed it back to normal, which is a nope, which i totally understand, since there's no recording of input in the program itself, it can't be a TAS, can it? is there an external tool or something? I totally love the game, show you guys my non-TAS run on hard (at least i think it was), mania is a little bit too much for getting through one 1 continue lol A no damage TAS would be brilliant to see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAQeRZv1nAk

AAAAAWWWWWEEEE--------SSSSSOOOOOOMEEEE!!!! lol sorry, i couldn't resist throwing that one in, this game is boss, you never get these kind of co-op platformers anymore, i think they should revive the retro and put gamers to the test again... dunno about anyone else but i completed this one normally, and it wasn't easy either....i found a couple of the secret funk orbs, but later on i'd be getting killed to bits, usually of those fellers in the box XD Sometime, i'm gonna TAS this one, never thought about it till now, cheers man

I've always found the RAM searching tools in most emu's to be awkward to use, i prefer cheat engine, real handy stuff. btw, which emulator are you using for saturn? i'm hoping there's a new one or something, i'd love to play some of those classics again, i tried to play clockwork knight on one and it was awful, there was glitches like mad, making stuff unplauyable....though that was on my old pc, but yet...it ran ps1 games like a king :/ i'm not too upto snuff with saturn emu, so any feedback woiuld be boss, i think the one i tried was something called Yabuse. my specs are : AMD FX130 black edition @ 3.6ghz 8GB DDR3 RAM Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT 1GB I'm guessing that's sweet since i can run epsxe using OGL2 plugins at like 400 fps. Is there some trick to getting them to work ok?

that's a good point, no input doesn't really make it anything you can really re-record, though possibly MW3 wii and dolphin, interesting... i'll bear that in mind for DOOM though, classic game that

Sorry for a late reply, job hunting and studying is a knacker, lol So cool watching these runs, it's like a SSJ4 playing MK2, any help to create a beast of a time would be great, i appreciate that man, much kudos. got the current run clocked at 24.45, its a massive improvment, should be upped pretty soon, YT takes its time on my connesction. i'll up the .gmv since it's not bad, i should probs try something like SMB 1, time to hit the warp zones lol

personally, i'd love to take a game to bits and find out what's happening, but it'd be like deciphering the da vinci code or something, i wouldn't know where to start, though i'm famiiar with hex, i might try this. good luck

in support of what i said, this is footage taken from my YT, i used a SP hack for some mindless fun. and it was filmed at 0.5 timescale. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nf2JARFMRcQ

Please read, becuase even though i'm not sure, i think the idea checks out well. I'm sure from a lot of our perspectives starting out with this kind of stuff, we've absolutely hammered google on how to slow stuff down and then a regular playback is boss, yeah, which is the whole point lol. So like yeah, when it comes to pc games, somehow they get dwarfed like that.....but, strictly speaking thats not so, games like mw3, using the right tools (i'm referring to single player, cos douches use hacks), you can use the timescale command to slow the action down, and complete with slow-mo voices too.....so this is the method i worked out to do it. 1. set the game to 0.5 -- 0.25 -- play speed via the timescale commands e.g "timescale 0.5" 2. during play record using screen capture software, such as dxtory (smaller file sizes) 3.when done, open the file in media player and increase the playback timescale by required parameters 3a. ****** Use timescale in fractions, I can merely enlighten here, so my idea is that setting the game's speed to 0.5 is half a second slower....so we double the integer to create footage at normal speed, (so 0.5 becomes 1.0 etc.) So we play can actuallly tinker with stuff and make TAS's of games that say no...(i.e. MW3, HL2, L4D), it can be done ^_^ http://www78.zippyshare.com/v/82002512/file.html *much appologies if the link dies*

Hex editors are useful for finding certain "triggers", FCEUX by far has the best hacking tools i've saw...but as for assembly code, that's a tough one...i'm only starting to learn how to tinker with programs/roms. I've typed random stuff into debuggers to see what happens and it's great comedy breaking games, further than that, i'm afraid i don't know enough yet, sorry man

Was an old test run in this thread, but it wasn't anything new...only decent thing was no damage on the first take 2, but i called it a day on this one.

I picked shinobi 3 and mortal kombat 2, cos i've played them both to death....that said, sonic games are easy to play normally....but i'm finding them very hard to TAS play, i'm all ears on this note.

hey guys, how you doing? Gotta introduce myself as a noob and all that lol. Now that's cleared up, i've been watching these TAS playthrough's for some time, and although it's took some time i've started on shinobi 3, my 1st attempt clocked out at 26mins, which i thought ok, i'll whack it on my YT, as you do. i'm not gonna bother posting that one since i overwrote it, the one i'm in the middle of seems to be much better by any standard, i know i'll not touch dammit's run, that was rapid as anything. but no less when its done, i'll still post it, there was 1 mistake per se (2 uneeded jumps) that costed about 6 seconds) - despite that, there's an interesting route on stage 5 before the boss, i had to scope a few glitches. i'll post it when it's done, peace guys
