BUMP
What does everyone think of my MMX4 Zero run, it is also up on
SDA and the time for Zero is 48:29. I am satisfied with this most of this run, the only really shitty part is final form sigma. I also did an X run, but it is sloppier.
You might notice that I did the run more than 3 months ago and the reason why I'm mentioning it now is because I want to improve it. I thought the nesvideos forums would be a good place to get ideas from, since time attacks are all about perfection.
Some stuff I could improve:
-In general I should have jumped off the wall using dash jumps to keep up momentum (dunno why I didn't do this in my run).
-There is a faster method of killing the boss in Split Mushroom's stage. Just fall down and ryuenjin (the flaming uppercut) like crazy. This would save about 10 seconds.
-I could use a slightly better path in the 2nd area of Frost Mammoth's stage, I should just dodge past some of the ice birds because they don't freeze the screen if you escape them quickly enough.
-I think constant dashing makes the screen scroll faster in Jet Stingray's stage, can someone confirm this?
-You say just attacking Jet Stingray without Hyouretsuzan (the icicle) is faster, I should probably try that but I doubt it is faster, especially when you fight him the 2nd time around without the ceiling.
-I think Slash Beast can be killed faster by using less jump slash and more raijingeki.
-My Colonel fight could be cleaner and his bugginess when he slashes can be abused more (you can do double or triple damage when he slashes, look at the run).
-Iris can be slightly improved using a slightly different strategy when she starts firing the laser.
-When fighting Magma Dragoon without the armor, I could have spaced myself out more dodging the uppercuts and punishing him with slash into raijingeki.
-Next time I'll try to hit Split Mushroom with the Raijingeki when he falls down after spawning clones.
-First form of Sigma can be killed about 10 seconds faster if I just hit him with ryuenjin every chance I get.
-Second form can be killed slightly faster if I use Rakuhouha (the giga attack) a bit.
The final form can be killed faster if I use some hyouretsuzan, don't make so many stupid mistakes, and get luckier on the gun form. He kept on using THE END, making it slower than if he just shot energy beams.
Wow, this is a long-ass post. I would like some comments and feedback about the Zero run and improving it.
