Just adding another yes vote to the big fat pile. Tons of varied glitches make the run very entertaining.

I've worked on a speed run of this game on and off and I can say the most important part about sliding isn't the speed, but how far it puts you on the right of the screen. Basically, the game scrolls as long as if you're far enough to the right of the screen (I'd say the right third of the screen). Sliding a bunch gives you more leniency because each slide pushes you closer to the right of the screen. In theory, you don't have to move at all as long as if you're on the right third or so of the screen. In other words, if you're all the way on the right edge of the screen, you can move left a little and still scroll the screen.

Awesome run, AnS. Lots of entertaining style choices, such as the first boss, descending down the ice cave, and even the elevator lift. You also managed to improve a Genisto run by a large margin to boot. Voting yes.

Voted no. I didn't see what was so entertaining about the run. Stuff like following the girls, disappearing from the screen, and opening random doors without going inside them just looks like you're stalling time. The few entertaining moments (dodging Thor's attacks, riding the wheels, and the severe glitchiness at the end), I thought dragged on too long. Seeing the game glitch out once was unique and interesting, but seeing it happen at least 5 times in a row without much variation was boring. Also, does this TAS really fall under a well-defined category?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, shmups.com has gotten to you moozooh. Anyways, I'll watch this later tonight. I remember the WIPs of the first two or three levels being impressive.

I actually watched this a while ago, but I forgot to vote because I'm lame. Anyways, this is an incredible run of one of my favorite SNES games. The final boss battle made my jaw drop. Yes vote.

Sorry I didn't look at the end of your run until now arki. Like I've been saying, great stuff. Lots of funny interaction between the gunstars and sweet flame chaser messages. There is one thing that bugs me. Does the golden silver fight really have to be that slow? It seems like it could be done faster (maybe it's just my experience playing single player).

This run is the best argument I've seen for bestiality. Yes vote.

Hey, just saw your latest WIP. It's great, but there is one big mistake you made. At the last set of boxes in the fifth stage (it's 4 boxes on top of each other), you could have high-jumped (up+c) over the boxes after you eliminated one. Yes, I made this mistake in my run too.

I'm just wondering what happened to this. I hope you didn't give up arkiandruski, this is one of the most entertaining TASes I have ever seen.

Sorry I should have elaborated. I only thought the very beginning of orange's stage (the first 10-20 seconds) were a little dull. The rest of the stage was great.

The bullets (lasers) the blue soldiers shoot are pretty slow, you can easily chase after them, or even outrun them.

I don't really have much to say other than great job! You've really taken the time to entertain the viewer. Like moozooh said, I would prefer more variety at the beginning of orange's stage. Maybe you could try following the bullets? Really though, just keep up the good work. And I was thinking of reasons this should obsolete jackic's run: 1. It's on a higher difficulty 2. Your run is much more entertaining. Comparing the two runs, it's obvious you are making a lot more effort to entertain the viewer. 3. Your run is more optimized, Jackic didn't even skip the boss intro text half the time. Sorry to beat up on your run Jackic, but it is old.

Nice justification of your immature behavior, Aqfaq. Anyways I found this run entertaining and even funny at times. The way you slid through this game like it was nothing was quite entertaining. BTW, there is no chance I can get those glitches to work for a speed run, is there? If you're wondering, I tried for about 5 minutes.

I watched your new WIP and it's great. I especially liked how you took my suggestion for the slope :) I think what killed the red guy so quickly was that you threw your partner into him. I think you could make the mine cart stage more entertaining. Here are some suggestions: -Let some of the enemies live (specifically, the bomb layers) and just barely dodge their shots, or weave in between the bombs. -The flame chaser tag suggestion I had earlier (Yes, I really want you to do this). Though I will admit this would probably be more entertaining in another stage. -Some more writing and/or intricate patterns. Since the other guy has the flame+force, you can use him to dot the i's. -Random midair floating trickery. It's really hard to do the midair float and still shoot enemies down on a console, so I think this would be entertaining.

I just saw your WIP and I want to say it's very entertaining! I like how red and blue just can't stop throwing each other. My only other suggestion for entertainment is maybe some leapfrogging, it would have been especially nice to see some during the auto-scrolling slope section. However, there is one very big flaw in your run. You forgot to skip boss text. Hold B the moment the boss text appears (not before like you did), and you'll scroll through the boss text much faster. I know it will be annoying to redo part of your run, but I don't want you to miss out on something so simple (like Jackic did in his run). During the mine cart stage would be a great time to chase red around with the flame chaser. You will have a ton of free time, and you can do the mid-air levitation trick to loop around the flame. BTW, maybe you'll get some tips from my speed run. I know it's old (almost 2 years now), but maybe you will discover something new. And it's a good excuse to whore myself :P http://speeddemosarchive.com/GunstarHeroes.html

Thank you! Someone is finally going to obsolete Jackic's outdated TAS (sorry Jackic, but it is an old run with some very basic errors). Unfortunately, I only have a couple of suggestions on how to make the run more entertaining. However, I feel entertainment is very important for a run like this because there are a lot of auto-scrolling sections and the the game has a ton of move variety in 2-player mode. Have the characters roughhousing each other during waiting times. Throw each other around a bit, I'm sure you can come up with some entertaining throwing tricks with TAS tools. Maybe play tag with the other player using the flame chaser? Write stuff with flame chaser, you can even use the flame+lightning to make i's, and then use the flame chaser to dot them. Or use the flame+lightning as one part of a T, then use the flame chaser to fill out the other part. During the shmup stage, assign whoever is using the flame chaser as the pilot. I don't know if that would actually be entertaining, but it would amuse me since it's impossible to use the flame chaser and fly simultaneously on a console. I'll admit these are basic ideas, but I want to make sure you have some creativity when making this run. This has the potential to be one of the most entertaining 2-player runs on tasvideos IMO.

I downloaded the new Gens and even downloaded the .gmv file again, but it still doesn't work for me. This is what I see: http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e209/mikwuyma/?action=view&current=Contra-TheHardCorpsJ_000.jpg BTW, is there any chance that using your last bomb on the final boss would let you end input earlier? P.S. Don't tell me controller settings or wrong rom because I checked them both.

That's funny, this run ends right before you kill the final boss, maybe it's the version of Gens I'm using (it's labeled 20061213). Anyways, I thought your run was really cool, even if you did use the lame Japanese version (not a huge fan of taking damage in a Contra game). I won't vote until I can play your whole movie. If anyone is wondering how the glitch works, here is the procedure: -Select weapon B and press fire. -After you fire weapon B, switch to weapon D. I had to double tap because the game switched firing modes on me with the first button press. -Repeat I think this glitch works because weapons B and D use the same animation. I'm sure Ash Williams can explain more thoroughly. Peforming this glitch on a console is possible, but performing it consecutively is tough. I think this movie should obsolete Gigafrost's because Gigafrost's run is quite poor by current TAS standards. Sorry Gigafrost, but your run is 2 and a half years old. P.S. I guess this means I should start working on some Fang runs someday :-/ (speed run not TAS)

The constant dying was hilarious. The way you jumped over the wall in the warehouse looked sweet. Ganging up on guys and wailing on them never got old. Plus, you occasionally used the other player to beat on enemies. How could I not vote yes? However, I do agree that the jump kick-trash can technique was something I missed from the old run.

Nice, I got a mention in the comments. I don't really have anything new to say. I have to say this was a very entertaining run and I think using a password was justified (seeing all 30 tracks would be boring).

I was holding R during my run. Funny how you mention stage 4 and the final boss, since those are two great examples of when I'm holding R :P. Look around 8:00 and 15:00 respectively. Just out of curiousity, why did you think I didn't know about the R button? I used it a lot in my run IIRC.

Just saw the updated run. Don't have much to say other than it looks great. I'm sure the judges realize that I would now vote yes if I could.

A. I did not do the run. It was done by Philippe 'Suzaku' Henry. B. None of the runs on SDA are tool-assisted. I'm quite aware your run is faster than the published TAS, but using this trick would easily knock off 10 or so seconds.
