What a weird game idea. This goes so fast that you can hardly see the main mechanic of the game at work. It's silly and short, though, so I think it gets a Yes vote. By the way, you use the phrase "knock up" for the attacks on the other characters. In case English isn't your first language, the phrase "knock up" can also informally mean to get someone pregnant. Then again, I'm not sure what alternate phrase would work better for the attacks here.

Thank you for the encode, NemoRuby! Apart from being fast, and having a few minor weapon changes, I didn't like this hack as much as some others. But the gameplay is still impressively smooth. I also like the heavy use of Double Dragon II and Batman and Return of the Joker for the soundtrack.

Wow, this is a really good-looking fan game! I especially like the eagle planes in Jet Man's stage, the stage rotation in Rolling Man's stage, and the X-style Mech near the end. The game is a good moderate length as well. Lastly, the music is pretty cool for the most part. Yes vote.

Neat run. The game seems like a Contra knockoff, complete with a Base boss in Stage 2, a vertical climber in Stage 3, and a final boss in the middle of the screen's right boundary that doesn't move.

I haven't been checking out the forums in a while, but this looked like an interesting little game. After reading the description with puzzle elements and horror themes, I was wondering if it was going to be like Nosferatu, but unfortunately that's not the case. It is amusing to see the Creature lumbering along with his silly jump, where he is somehow the same height as most of the people he fights. (Wasn't he supposed to be something like 20% larger than a normal person?) The game moves fluidly enough. Not the best Genesis platformer out there, but good enough for a Yes vote. Also, I don't think this movie qualifies for "abuses death to save time". You get that health potion to replenish your health, but that's just another example of taking damage to save time. Abusing death would be more like if you had a deathwarp to somewhere else in the stage.

Wow, I'd forgotten this was the Bonk GB game I had a long time ago. I remembered the game was called Bonk's Revenge, but I don't remember most of the gameplay at all. Fun trip down memory lane to see this, so thanks for making this run!

I was worried that S-Hard would just spam stages with the spinning spear enemies, but that only seemed to be an issue for the first couple stages. As usual, TAS gameplay of Wario Land 4 is really entertaining, though it's also a bit of a shame how little gameplay remains from places like Pinball Zone and Hotel Horror. I'm not sure that S-Hard adds that much gameplay value in a TAS setting compared to Hard mode, but I'm still voting Yes for the run being entertaining.

I finally got to watch this (the replacement file version). I think it looks quite good! I don't know the game well enough to point out specific places that seem questionable. Good work.

For the record, the old publication of Normal difficulty had a low 27-minute time, so this is a big improvement! Then again, the Normal run was obsoleted by a run on Hard mode. Maybe the current site standards would be more willing to have publications of both difficulties?

Ok... wow. For a game that is already a massive joke, where things look glitchy without any special effort from the player, this does a lot of stuff I didn't know was possible in SMW. How many of these glitches can only be done in this fangame (not in original SMW)? I've never seen corrupted flight paths for the blocks from flying Hammer Bros, for instance. I also liked the part where you fall really fast with a P-Balloon to die inside a speakerbox. The run goes a little long with some of the jokes. It's usually quite entertaining. It's unclear whether this meets publishing standards, in my opinion. Nice work though. I voted Meh.

Thank you for the encode! This game doesn't have enough enemies in it, but the stage design is cool. Impressive use of all the speed-keeps to have faster speed through so many parts of the game. Yes vote.

"One egg was left alive. That way, we can get a sequel." That made me laugh :-) I've seen runs of this fangame done by Xoneris with European Speedrunners Assembly (I think that's the name), and it looked pretty cool. I'm not sure I can set up emulators for it lately; do you have a video encode available? It's fine if you don't, but I figured I'd ask to see if that gave this run a bit more popularity.

Since you're more familiar with the game than I am, are there any strange occurences of note that you've happened to come across? Are all the progressive powerups pretty much linear? The game seems very dry in the glitch department, which is a credit to the coders. I haven't been able to find any glitches online or in casual play myself. But any small detail such as the pixel boosts off of slopes could be useful.
I don't know of game mechanic things like pixel boosts. The main help I really gave goofydylan years ago was to suggest more use of Tornado for climbing, particularly by doing more shorter jumps instead of maxing out his jump height with each one originally. At this point, the Tornado usage in RTA looks quite good, where a TAS would either tweak it a bit or would have to come up with a completely new route change to some part. I am also not aware of any possible sequence breaks in the powerups, so I don't know exactly how the game would react to skipping a powerup. If it were possible to walk thru rocks and skip the need for Gremlin Stick or for Candle of the Ghoul Realm, that could potentially save a lot of time provided your weaker wings could still complete the later stages. I would say the biggest optimizations would be expected from the laggiest stages, like the river of flame or from Mount Imaus.

Surprisingly fun run despite the slow movement speed. Fairly ridiculous boss lead-in dialogue bits. And I don't think the bits of skin in this game should get the run rejected. (The Mystic Defender run for Genesis has a similar thing going on with its final boss fight.) I appreciate the work at the submission gag. Reminds me of the lengths JXQ used to go to for comedy submission write-ups. EZGames69, do you know French, or was that machine-translated? It looked pretty accurate to me with my high-school French background.

Is there anyone you can contact to help search for subpixel values in memory? I am no good with that. My expertise is in basic strats for this game and general love for the game. It's one of the only games I sort of tried to play seriously for speed, but I never submitted any recordings.

Another question: how does death affect the RNG? I think part of the reason for Overswarm's deaths in boss fights was to see about getting a more predictable RNG.

I'm referring to the current world record run on Speedrun.com, by Overswarm found here: https://www.speedrun.com/gargoyles_quest_2/run/me4gn49y If I had to guess it's easier for an RTA to abuse death at that later boss because you can just damage boost and spam it with attacks. I'm not entirely sure of the level, but it looks like the Jungle boss by observing his splits.
Alright, I checked out Overswarm's run. Good stuff, nice work with lag management, particularly for RTA. They play the Japanese version, and honestly I don't really care at this point if that's played over English. I know that TASVideos doesn't care as much when the only timesave for J ROMS is due to text. It looks like he dies on Death Balloon (the boss in the forest that gives you Night Drop) to set up the death warp after Gremlin Stick in the desert. I would say you do need at least one spare health to take damage from that boss's bubbles and beat it faster. I don't remember if Jigwally's TAS gets to that point with more than one heart. If you get there with only one heart, it's probably faster to die on the spike walls like they do because the boss's breath will blow you slightly faster towards those spikes, but you may have to test the timing to die there as opposed to the first boss fight (Nagus, I think?).

Good to see someone making more work on this game! I know a lot of the little details about casual gameplay, but I don't know enough about TAS precision. I wouldn't be any help with subpixels, but it doesn't surprise me that they end up mattering this much. The game does have a nasty habit of feeling inconsistent with jump heights, so subpixels are likely to blame. Thanks for the video of stage 2. I haven't watched the old run in a long time, but this looks really clean. Great pixel boosts down the sloped roof segments. Not sure about shooting that one enemy during your last fall to the boss room, but if it reduces enough lag, then it's worth it. Can you point to which RTA speedrun you're talking about when it comes to death abuse choices?

This is pretty hilarious in concept, in the running for shortest ratio of actual play control to the length of the "game". It's not all that entertaining to watch, except for the very end of the input with the CPU unable to steal back the ball. Nice technical showpiece though.

Awesome! I wasn't expecting to see this game show up again. Interesting strategy changes at the end of the Russia bout. The characterization in this game is really ridiculous with the design of all the arenas.

Good run, looks really difficult. This may not have directly been ported to the Genesis, but I get the impression that Alex Kidd in Shinobi World is meant to imitate this pretty closely! The final boss fight seems to have some similar structure, you fight a helicopter boss in Stage 2 in both games, and there's a "lobster" boss in both games.

Good work! Sorry I didn't check out this run sooner. More Ghouls 'n Ghosts content is good, and this run is pretty solid for a handheld game. I like the vertical climbing gimmick in the fire stage. Tiamat's model is... something alright.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Unusual port of a Mega Man game. It seems to be mostly like Mega Man 5 with parts of Mega Man 4. The scrolling is awkward to deal with the larger stages, but it works alright (though Mega Man & Bass did a better job with it on GBA years later). The soundtrack is alright for Game Gear, though the Wave Man stage used the song from Gravity Man for some reason. It seems like the gameplay is pretty good, though it must be hard to optimize the uses of Rush Coil and some of the boss fights. I'll give this a Yes vote.

Thank you for the video, Bigbass! Great movie. It looks like it has less lag, and the new miniboss strategies for Stage 5 are a lot faster.
