Nice run! However, I would like to request using an alternate screenshot than the bath one, since that one doesn't really show anything indicative of the usual gameplay. I sort of like FractalFusion's suggestion with Big Oni.

grassini: I was thinking the same thing. There's also one stage of Rainbow Islands (Bubble Bobble 2) that is probably referencing this game, since it starts with the same music and similar images. The scrolling made my head hurt at first, but the action is pretty good. It looks like the run makes the game look too easy. zupapa, can you explain bosses 6 and 7, since they look quite different from the other fights?

I get where arandomgameTASer is coming from. He was commenting on entertainment, and that's ultimately a personal decision. By also explaining his vote, he also made it easier for a judge to look at the voting feedback and interpret it appropriately for judging. I'd rather have him put up that opinion, even if it's a minority opinion, than to have unexplained No votes or to drive people away from leaving any negative feedback. Anyway, galedog, one instance I found of a questionable jump was at 1:20 in the encode, on the left side of the screen. Now that you mention it, it does seem like the margins on the left are not as forgiving as on the right. Others: * At 1:30, couldn't you jump sooner to hit the enemies dashing in earlier? * The beginning of Stage 3 does come to mind... for the first enemy Tyris kills, couldn't you start the back attack before the enemy is visible on screen? * At 3:00, around the beginning of Stage 4, it looks like Gilius should be able to dive that enemy sooner. In any case, these look pretty minor, and this is still a great first attempt at this run!

This looks pretty cool; hooray for a 2-player run of Golden Axe. It seems like this is a lot shorter than the Genesis port; is there a harder difficulty in this version with any more stages? This doesn't feel quite as optimal to me as the Genesis run, with a few downstabs that look like they happen late in the early stages. However, that's just a gut feeling as opposed to any concrete numbers I can test. Apart from that, the run looks good, with a bit of comedic timing as well.

Oh man, this is so much better than the previous run! Although you use damage boosts very frequently, you also usually get enough fruit to get rid of that annoying low-health sound. The penguin game where you just throw him off the edge is hilarious :-) The warp is pretty crazy as well. I'm surprised that it doesn't save more than 2 minutes. I don't know if your encode could be an official YouTube encode, since it doesn't seem to handle blinking consistently in a 30FPS video player, but that's something the encoders would know more than I would. One question, though: why can't you get more invincibility stars for miniboss battles? The octopus battle seems like it has enough enemies before the door to be able to manipulate a star. I know zggzdydp commented on stars in the previous movie's thread.

Hey, sorry I didn't see this in the submissions earlier! I used to rent this game from our video store, and it's pretty good. It gets much harder starting with that annoying Walrus boss. Nice job with the improvement. The use of damage on the seahorse boss looked really slick to me. Yes vote, if that counts for anything.

Ok, I am amused, but I still don't think this meets the goals of Vault tier. Does anything you do actually affect the speed of the run, as long as you keep running and don't die?

Kurabupengin: Don't be rude. Zoboner's English skill was pretty good. My use of a semicolon in your quoted part may have been a bit awkward though. I guess I pay more attention to these details with French authors because I speak some French, so I understand certain mistakes in English a bit better. About the run itself, I agree with zoboner about the last boss. That's the highlight of the run.

Pretty good job! This hack is a little better than I thought it would be, since the enemy double-jumps make things more interesting. I also like the use of JUTS in stage 1. Most of the boss battles are unfortunately really boring, except the last one. I think the actual platform mechanics are similar to many non-hacked games, and they were moderately entertaining. I'm between Meh and Yes as my vote choices, so I'll go with Yes. EDIT: Good translation; your English is not bad! For "comportement" with the second boss, I would use "form"... you manipulate his form (or his shape, if you like that word better).

I had not heard of this game before, I actually found this to be a surprisingly good game for the Lynx! The platforming looks stiff, but there's a lot activity going on that keeps things lively, and the graphics aren't overly cluttered. The use of warps makes the game a lot more manageable in length too, and the speedy boss rush is impressive. When adelikat was looking around for a first candidate for a Lynx game to TAS, this would've been plenty more interesting than Gordo The Mutated Lab Monkey. Nice job, and Yes vote.

If the game keeps repeating in loops, why do you play 2 loops instead of just 1?

Thanks, but that does not seem to really be a prize world. It's a weird glitched version of a minigame you have to play in the main prize world, and it has a time limit. With that time limit, I don't think you could accomplish much of anything interesting in that area, but maybe someone with TAS experience with this game could check it out.

Wow, that's a lot of research on the game. And the run looks good too. I'm a little surprised there are so many different boss strategies used; some of them are incredibly quick. Great job! Most of these notes probably belong in a separate Game Tricks page.

That's an awesome ad to accompany the encode :) As for the game, I knew of this more as Root Beer Tapper, and I'd been curious to see how a speedrun of this would look. It's cool how you make this look more like a shoot-em-up with beer mugs. The bandit bonus games are annoying, but the movie is short enough and impressive enough for a Yes vote.

Good job with the minor improvements here. The manipulation looks good. It's just a shame the main character is so slow; if you had to complete more than one stage, the game would get horribly boring. I'd be quite interested to see where a 2-player run of this game goes though!

scrimpeh: It doesn't look like anything in this game is random. The enemies just follow the right-side boundary whenever they hit an obstacle. For example, in the "KIKU" round, the player can't run along the top any sooner because the enemies would turn right into any spot where you may go to hide. Anyway, nice run, zupapa! This game is ok, but the graphics are surprisingly poor, even for the MSX. This game got more exciting when there were more enemies, but I didn't find it interesting enough to get a Yes vote. (I voted Meh.) The action is just a bit too simple for this game, especially compared to the NES version.

Whoa, that level 75m shortcut is crazy. Does anything like that work in the NES game? Yes vote, because this is still way faster than Donkey Kong has any right to be.

I liked this run enough for it to merit publication as a separate category, in my opinion. There were a lot of different strategies because of the different magic levels and containers. Nice going!

This looks pretty good! I was a frequent commenter on the forum for this game when Bhezt Rhy was making the previous run. I don't know much about specific lag reduction techniques, so there aren't many places I can comment on, but great job removing 2 or 3 seconds of lag from several stages! I do have one concern, though. In 3-4, when you fight the bosses, it looks like Sylvester falls at the same speed whether he's alive or dead. By hitting him very high in a jump for your first hit, you create a lot of delay before you can give the next two hits. Would it be faster to let him descend more, so you can give three attacks much faster?

This is another run that needs a WTF voting option. I don't know if I actually found the ending entertaining, but it was definitely crazy. Given how the boss fight from the previous publication is not that interesting either, though, I'll vote Yes here.

Hi there Maejin512! As someone who has watched the whole run by janus for the category that uses Super Combo, I do find the idea interesting to avoid that overpowered (in a TAS) trick. However, I do share andypanther's concern: if this doesn't look different enough from janus's run to a casual viewer, this might not get accepted to the Moons category. I definitely plan to check this out, but I will probably need a whole week to watch all the parts of this run. Your rerecord count seems quite low for a run of this length. This worries me a bit, because people usually need lots of rerecords to get randomness to work the way they want, especially in boss fights. I don't really know this game very well, though, so I probably can't comment on how optimal the bossfights are. Small correction: I see you copied some of janus's text from his run. The beginning description (which mentions "pulverizing") IS talking about the Super Combo. Therefore, that part doesn't apply to your run. Also, your run is not anti-climactic... in fact, the whole purpose of your run is to have more exciting final fights. Anyway, until I get to check out this run, I wanted to congratulate you on completing such a long run!

Thanks for the encode. I was familiar with the Genesis version we have at TASVideos before watching this. It's rare to say this, but I think the Arcade version is a lot worse. The gameplay is a lot more repetitive and you don't see many nice features of the cyber suits. It looks like you waste ammo a lot with shots that don't hit anything; some of that is strategic, but it looks sloppy. (Also, I don't think this is a "Shooter" game. I would say it's a "Platformer". Most shooters have autoscrolling stages and more room to maneuver.) The run seems alright, but the game is only worth a Meh vote from me.

I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. This is pretty fun! I like the gimmick of having shots hit across multiple screens, though it's silly that there's no boss weaknesses. It's good to see there's a little room for clever optimization of Barrier Wave hits and some use of different weapons in the last stages. Good job!

Hey, an improvement is an improvement, and it's still a fun game to watch. That being said, I can't watch this without an encode, so I won't vote yet, but I'm sure it would be a Yes vote :-)
