Derakon basically said what I wanted to say. Back when adelikat was looking for a first Lynx submission, this probably would have been a better choice than Gordo the Lab Monkey. I like how there is actually a little complexity to boss fights, like manipulating the penguin spawns in Stage 3. The ending text is pretty funny too; it makes it look like your main reason for defeating the Penguin was to get bonus points. Yes vote.

Nice strategy changes! This was a refreshing watch. I've also always liked seeing how much you use Tornado in your runs too for upward motion. I figure I have to bring this up again: any plans to include a Dark Demon fight? If it's not enough content for it to be its own submission, it would still be possible to link it from this movie's publication page, I figure.

It's a good game and a good run. I never understood why all the different ports of Ys III had such different names for things, but at least they all have pretty awesome music. I'm a little conflicted about that max-stats glitch. It's fun to see happen, and it many boss battles a lot less repetitive. However, I feel like it also takes out most of the interesting strategy. You don't ever really have to worry about managing your ring power, for instance, and you don't really have to work on dodging any boss attacks before you reach Merland (aka Garland). It basically seems to trivialize the game. Regardless, I'm still voting Yes.

Wow! I can't believe it's been 5 years since Glitchman's last run. This was definitely worth the wait. (And this game really needs to have a Game Resources page on this site... in fact, none of the NES Megaman games have a Game Resources page here!) Skull Man's stage is a definite highlight. Why does that Rain Flush trick for the Wily 2 boss work only for that boss? That was really funny to see. And what in the world did you do in Wily 3? You pause a bunch, end up in the walls, and you then fight Wily with big glitchy fireballs. Do any other Megaman games allow this kind of trick? Lastly, great input ending.

This is really nice! It's impressive to see that you didn't just submit the first attempt you had, and you were able to go back and improve parts. A 20 second difference between your old and new runs (according to what I saw from your YouTube channel) is really great work. I admit that I don't know Sonic games well enough to appreciate all the minor touches you mentioned in the submission comments, but I'm glad you mentioned them anyway. It's just too bad the route for Music Plant 2 didn't work out the way you originally wanted. As a screenshot suggestion, I don't have a specific frame number or timestamp, but I would suggest using a picture of Knuckles using his elbow-slam move some time in Sky Canyon. He looks so amusingly carefree doing that, and Sky Canyon has good backgrounds that would stand out in a screenshot without being too distracting.

Wow, those glitches at the end do change this up quite a bit. I don't know if it's good enough, though, to upgrade the entertainment ranking though. It's still a rough game to sit through, only just slightly less rough. What's the deal with the glitch where you actually walk faster at some points in Stage 6, when the game is swamped with barrels?

Nice improvement of a fun but clumsy game. It's a shame the improvement only really shows up in two parts, but they're pretty neat. The Stage 3 boss was cool, and the Stage 5 boss seems a little confusing. Do you not have to defeat Durant? (It looks like you just jump over him, hit the end of the stage, and end the run.)

Wow, this is definitely not the best entry of the Alex Kidd series. It's really disappointing how few platforming parts there were. You basically have a whole bunch of little fetch quests, it seems. The game that did this kind of style right is the Linus Spacehead game that Bag of Magic Food did a run for. Instead, this feels like it takes the worst parts from a few different games... that one Japanese game where you try to gain piousness comes to mind. (I can't remember its name right now.) The technical skill looks good, but we'll have to see about a better route.

Nice! I liked playing this game when I was younger. The electric boss in Stage 3 was always so hard for me, but TAS runs just jump in his face and own him hard. The shop music glitch in 2-2 was pretty surprising and was a welcome change to the run. It seems like you found a way to regain control quicker after damage sometimes? You especially used this on little flying brown gremlins. The new approaches in 4-2 and 5-1 were also pretty cool, after having seen people use a balloon in 4-2 for years now. I only have a couple optimization questions. Randil's run said that you gain a little bit of time if you face the direction you want to go in the next stage when the previous stage ends. It doesn't look like you take advantage of this between 2-1 and 2-2, for instance. Also, you have an extra hit left at the end of 3-2; was there nowhere else that damage would save time in that stage? Yes vote!

It's still Vault, but now it looks better thought out. Good manipulations. I'm glad to see you could land uppercuts on Kintaro. I'm a little surprised that Shang Tsung transformed in the second round. Was that transform and slide the fastest way he could damage you, or was it just too hard to manipulate anything else worthwhile?

How does this compare to Randil's 7:16 run that was cancelled due to known improvements?
It's faster. That run is misleading, because it doesn't finish the credits completely. If you add in the time to close the credits, it adds on something like 10 seconds, so that run is actually more like a 7:26. This run should only be compared to the previous publication, which does finish the credits properly. Also, Alyosha, awesome job with that last fairy. It also looks pretty funny to see you shooting for the fairy in the midst of all of Pete's knives, like you're completely unfazed by the barrage of knives coming at you.

Nice going. At first, I was worried this was slower than an old run, because Randil does have a submission with a faster time. However, that submission doesn't clear the credits properly. When you take that into account, this is a faster run. In Stage 1, you go pretty close to the treasure box with Minnie's star weapon. The old route didn't go there. How much time does it lose to get that weapon? Are the missed shots for randomness / lag reduction? Also, it seems like we should be able to brute force something to figure out, finally, if it's possible to get a fairy in that final fight. If you already know what value to look for in memory, that should be most of what we need, right? The run is good now, but I'd love to see if, once and for all, we can settle whether this fairy strategy is possible. Finally, I'm amused that you only take damage twice, and they're both due to pirate Pete. Given how ridiculously hard it is to avoid damage in this game, a TAS that avoids damage is really impressive.

That was quite a novel of submission comments :) Perhaps a lot of those details about the game, like frame timings and enemy data, instead belongs in a game information page? In any case, it's impressive how thorough you were. The game gets a little repetitive with the stage design, and I wished you'd been able to get the item to let you levitate more. But the run is pretty speedy, and the graphics and music are pretty good. My favorite part was probably the use of the mirror item. Yes vote.

Spectacular. I remember when the last cancelled submission came out, and I was hoping you two would be able to get a run with both of your improvements. Years later, we finally have this run, and it has a whole lot of nifty tricks. The keyclimbs are awesome, but I'm more impressed by some of the crazy stunts where you barely make difficult jumps. It's also great to see the barrel reuse against DK; it cuts out a lot of annoying downtime there. Great run! This is definitely one of the best action puzzle runs we have on TASVideos now. I'd even give it a nod for Stars.

Nice job improving the run. Unfortunately, most of the run is still fairly bland. Even with the big changes with Alone In The Dark, I was hoping to be more surprised or astonished than I actually was. This is still a Meh in entertainment for me, though it's a good technical improvement.

For what it's worth, it looks to me like the two games are basically the same game. The RNG mechanics do not make the run look any different to the untrained eye. Given that this is the longer run, and its graphics look worse, I do not recommend obsoleting the SMS run by Synahel. I'm leaning slightly towards publishing this alongside the SMS run, but it's not a strong preference. After all, the Vault is about speed records, and it matters if the system affects the speed. I think it would also look fairly inconsistent if improvements of the run kept switching the published movie's system from GG to SMS or vice versa. gamerretro2, you made a good-quality run. Unfortunately, that quality comes at an entertainment price :/

It's not the most exciting game, but it's pretty good to follow for a puzzle game I haven't played before, like Kwirk. The bobbing motion and sound effects of the main player get annoying, and I wish there was more than one song in the background, but the puzzles are solid and look efficiently done. The multi-character puzzles are usually quite interesting. I can't generally give puzzle games a Yes vote, due to their repetitive nature, but I'd say this gets a positively-tinted Meh vote from me. Nice job optimizing it too! And for the record, as boct said, movies don't have to be flawless. They just have to beat known records. Some puzzle games have had rather large improvements over time, like the Lolo series, though those have more action elements in them too.

Were you intending to use two streams, Spikestuff? If I'm not mistaken, the idea of the "dual encode" for the temp was mostly as a joke, and it wasn't intended to make an encode for both versions of the ROM.

If you don't want to submit, that's your decision of course. But this site doesn't have a problem with people submitting small improvements, especially since it's been a long time since the publication. Would you want to give someone else permission to submit for you and copy your recent message as the submission text?

Does this game not have the exploits that Tekken 3 had, like using the pause menu to cut down on in-game time? Granted, a little variety in the setup movements was nice to see, but yeah, this is a good old suicide fest. Not real entertaining, but enjoyable enough for about 2 minutes.

Wow. It's tricky to follow this run if you're not real familiar with the game, but it's obvious how broken the run is. Your movement glitch is amazing, and the uses of LFP to end up inside a floor sometimes was pretty fun. The boss fights are more of a drag, but there's not much you can do for that. Nice first run! I'm glad to see efforts from 2012 pay off.

I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Nice going. The Splatterhouse games are often oddly fun. Although this has a lot of autoscrolling, you did a good job with it, such as the music bits and the fistbump. I actually also liked the side-by-side video thing, since in one of the sewer scrollers, it looked like obstacles scrolled off one game into the next-door game. Thanks for the in-depth explanation of the quick kill on that one boss too. That did look a little funny, but that's a pretty clever way to beat it. Yes vote!

Not bad. The run doesn't feel that precise, but I can't identify any particular slow parts. I think I'm just feeling more annoyed by game design that gives no indication of where you enter some passages or walk through walls to find captured mice. At least the boss fights were fairly cleverly designed, with the last one looking way more difficult than anything else before. I'd say this is a Meh in entertainment. Good run though.

Surprisingly fluid game. It reminds me of a slower-paced Little Nemo at the start. The main downside is the sounds and music, but they put some good effort into the graphics, even though it looks very cluttered. I'm impressed at how much optimization is possible for this game, such as in the boss fight against the clothes. And fast-fluttering mermaid Barbie is pretty funny to see. Good job with the boss fight skips, and the route skip where you keep jumping on the floor of the juke box stage is pretty cool. I'd say this does well enough for a Yes vote.
