This wasn't a spectacular game, but it moved along pretty nicely. Good job with all the work optimizing this. I'm glad to see that DTC is still going just fine!

Not bad. The game has some nice quirks, but ultimately it's an autoscroller without a lot of variety. The jumping looks ridiculous, and that's funny, but overall the game wasn't entertaining enough for me to vote it out of the Vault. Good job cleaning up lag, though the game still feels obnoxiously clunky at times. I doubt there's much you could do about it.

Even with all the lag, the game is fun to watch. I'm not sure I liked seeing the sprite glitch done as often as it was, but I liked most of your entertainment choices. Great job attacking a nightmare of a game to optimize as your first submitted movie!

Neat little fighting game. However, this run does have the issue that all fighting game runs have when going for fastest time: the strategies get really repetitive. The run also feels pretty unoptimized, though I have no basis for measuring exactly how suboptimal it is. Mothrayas brings up good points. It's not quite interesting enough to get out of the No area for entertainment.

You work really quickly, Alyosha! I definitely appreciate your zeal for picking up these runs in development and pushing them to completion. I'm not in a location where I can view this movie at the moment, but I do plan to get to this later tonight. EDIT: I've seen the run. Nicely done. The new glitches are the best kind, where you largely cut out boring repetitive parts (especially in boss levels) and still have good action. Yes vote.

So how much faster now is this movie compared to the original submission? Crazy amount of improvement, everyone.

I'm not sure I actually understand the point here. Is this just Hangman, and you're luck-manipulating what the word is?

jlun2: Walker Boh's run also plays a few bonus levels. I haven't watched this run yet, but the level description suggests that all bonus levels are skipped. That being said, it looks like given the standards of this run, Walker Boh's 100% is quite improvable at this point. I'd be curious to see that one day, since it doesn't really feel right to me to kill off most of the survivors to save time. I understand it as a speedrunning tactic, but for some reason it just feels less in the spirit of the game.

ALAKTORN: It's actually 5 minutes. If you get the old man to show you the map, which looks like a blank piece of paper, you have to wait around for 5 minutes. However, I think the game still gives you the ability to progress if you beat up the old man instead of letting him show you the map. That's what the short runs here have all done. was0x: It's not much improvement, but 12 frames is still an improvement! Good job, but I'm not sure if it's interesting enough to a general audience member to recommend it for Moons. I like it, personally.

grassini: I believe that's what Hetfield90 was calling "swagdouken". (That term is awesome.) From what it seems, it wasn't possible to do both that and this new boss strategy. I liked the two-claw attack, personally, so I'm ok with this choice.

Very nice job! It's a shame how some parts got a little slower, but I honestly couldn't tell from watching. There are a lot of fresh touches in this run besides the Phantom Grab. I really like all the places you use Shotgun Ice scatter to hit enemies quickly (like the miniboss of Sting Chameleon or several vertical ascents in the Sigma stages). The sled zip in Sigma 3 was a good entertainment tradeoff. Is the autoscroller skip in Boomer Kuwanger's stage a recent development? I don't remember seeing that skipped before. One minor thing that was missing was dumping a Hadoken into the final form of Sigma, even though that doesn't hurt it. It was funny when the current published run did it, but it's certainly not needed. You also look like you take damage earlier in that fight, which would prevent the Hadoken from being used anyway. Great job!

Holy shit you have some good memory. That run is damn near 5 years old now. I didn't even remember that being said!
Thanks, I guess. I did see that quote more recently than 5 years ago though: I frequently sift through published movies via http://tasvideos.org/randomM.cgi to check out different stuff to rewatch. That movie came up a few times somewhat recently. Also, I guess the judging statement on that movie struck me as fairly well explained, so it stuck with me. Then again, if there's an opening for "Published Movies Historian", let me know ;-)

I liked this run. It has some slight technical flaws, from what I gather (I didn't notice them as much myself when watching), but it's a convincing demonstration of how to play through a difficult game under difficult conditions and be pretty entertaining in the process. There were a lot of places where you had to take damage to proceed quickly, but there were also many places with impressive dodging. (I liked seeing the last stage's end portion, dodging the bullets from the Terminator ducks.) I agree with Scrimpeh here; the primary goal is "No subweapons", and then "pacifist" is a secondary goal. I might have called that goal "minimal kills" instead, but that's just confusing compared to "pacifist".

... wow, that was... really something. That's quite different from Cool Spot, which would actually make a pretty awesome run. The animations for piece placement are silly enough to leave in, even if it costs time, but I don't know if I'd really call them entertaining. (However, I'd be curious if the AI manipulation changes without those animations.) Good job running another puzzle game with some manipulation, but I can't really recommend this for Moons.

Amazing. At first, I was disappointed with all the damage being taken, since it's really easy to take damage in this game. But then the glitches come out, and the route planning changes become more obvious. Nice job improving an old movie of yours! Does this game give you continues? I noticed that sometimes you'd die with one life left and then you'd get 3 lives afterward. I vote Yes and recommend this for Moons. I'd also like to see if you could give more explanation of the glitches either here or on a Game Resources page.

The end doesn't look quite as polished as the early parts, but it doesn't seem bad to me. I'd say this is definitely technically solid enough for publication. It's a much more interesting run than the currently-published movie too. The highlights for me were the fire boss and the elements on IceFire mountain. With the fire boss, you did a good job making the hits varied and ending the fight in a great way. The final fight here is way faster than the published run's fight.

This is an amusing strategy, but it makes for a bad watch. That's the way these things go sometimes. I think a YouTube comment said that they actually had to watch this at 50% speed to appreciate what was going on, which makes a lot of sense. I would certainly like to see more of a playaround involving challenging words, but for right now, I'd say this is a good Vault run on the game. Welcome to posting, AMReese! I was in your boat once of watching runs for a while before deciding to comment.

I fully agree with Scepheo's post. That post mentioned pretty much everything I was going to comment on, like the difference between the shortest possible game and the actual TASing of said game. I don't know if I found this particularly entertaining to watch, but it wasn't boring because it was short. It is funny to see the CPU take such a dumb strategy right off the bat. I think I'll vote Yes.

This game is definitely clumsy. I mostly like this run more than the Castle of Castiglioro run, because the character goes faster, but the game is way more linear too. The lag is also annoying. I'd say this is a Meh for me.

Kurabupengin: I found the submission comments hard to understand. You had a rude way to say it though. A lot of people don't speak English as their first language or have to use machine translation. Anyway, this is a pretty fun movie! Even though the movie is only about 3 minutes, there's still some variety in the gameplay and optimization concerning which enemies to attack and which to damage-boost through. The glitch is quite surprising. I'd say this earns a Yes vote.

I never particularly found this game that interesting, but it's good to see it improved. It's a shame you didn't improve the actual gameplay, but I think that's still acceptable since you're listing the old author name. To be fair, I didn't even remember that the game had menus... This reminds me of the first time when Randil had improvements on the storybook games like Uninvited and Shadowgate. I think one of the first improvements was just a little tighter menu work but didn't change the overall route. Then again, in those games, cursor movement is actually pretty nontrivial.

Wow, I used to play this game on PC a long time ago. The game is sort of clunky, and the objectives for completing rooms can be really bizarre, but it has a fun (if strange) sense of humor. I always enjoyed seeing the "World's Smallest Nuclear Explosion", though I was disappointed to see you couldn't hang around to watch the enemies' reaction in Stage 1 to the "World's Most Interesting Bomb". The final boss ending is also pretty messed up. Good job with the run, though! Although the first Minecrawler dive was an oversight, basically everything else looked fluid. The run really picks up speed starting from Stage 3; that was one of my favorite ones largely due to the sniping in the autoscroller just before the boss fight. Stage 5's sniping is impressive, since its boss is usually the hardest one in realtime. The sequence break at Stage 6, where you free Bones early (or is his name Max in the sequel?) was great. I'd say that this is entertaining enough for a Yes vote, even if it takes a while to get good. Also, even if the music doesn't work in the emulator, you're really not missing much. Dark Noob: MDK2 was the sequel and was probably a much better game. You could play as Kurt Hectic, the dog Max, or the doctor Fluke Hawkins. (In fact, if I recall correctly, "MDK" is supposed to stand for "Max, Doctor, Kurt".) Derakon: The area with the long glide has its only exit on a level off of the ground. If you fall all the way to the ground, there's only one way up to the platforms which is at the back, far out of the way. If you use the platforms, they wind back and forth and add on a lot of extra distance, which probably negates the speed benefits of strafe running. It's a much shorter path overall to just glide from the high altitude where you start.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. This publication doesn't look like it's showing up in the front page's movie list.

To echo the crowd, I'm impressed with the music. It was good to have it change every few stages. I thought this was going to be fairly generic dodging, but the odd jumping mechanic made the solutions more interesting. Only the very last stage drags on too much. Good job. I voted Yes. As for Linus Spacehead, if anyone wants a reference, I believe that Bag of Magic Food did some research with the game. If you look at his comments for his run of the sequel, Linus Spacehead's Cosmic Crusade, he has a link to a YouTube run of the game. For that game, going for 100% candies is probably more interesting.
