This is a long game, but it's very enjoyable! Great job improving your old run. My favorite was seeing the Reflect Laser get used in the last few stages. It's a shame that you don't use the OrbitShield anymore, but the Reflect Laser is pretty beautiful too. The strategy on Dark Elf Omega with the cyber elf is also great.

I thought this game was alright. The graphics are oddly off-putting, and the music is annoying, but the platforming does get pretty tense at points. I'd say it's a little better than Vault, personally. I think this really does suffer from the illusion of looking easier than it is, which doesn't help entertainment value.

Yes, it does. There's a published TAS for it. That port is a lot slower, longer, and has worse graphics. (It also has no naked Medusa ;-) )

Is this run slower only because of the Vs. fight at the end? Other than that, I'd say this is a much crazier run, and if we only had one publication of this game, I'd take this run.

Thanks for the temp encode. I'd gotten lazy about searching for the ROM. I generally like Fantasy Zone games, so I was looking forward to this. Compared to the other Fantasy Zone games, this one feels pretty lackluster. Even the fastest engine speed goes much slower than in the other two games. There wasn't a whole lot of ability to show off weapons except for the fire powerup (which was put to good use in the final boss rush). The warps between enemies break the pace of the game too. However, the run is well-played. It's still a short run, and boss fights are awesome. I voted Meh, but it could've gone Yes. I guess this is a good run, but I was hoping for something that was as fun as the other Fantasy Zone games. Also, I think this can be said about the other games in the series, but the ending credits are a big WTF for a game with this little in-game plot.

If you already have a WIP which is an improvement, is it worth submitting for the moment? Even if it's not optimal, it's better than the existing publication, and sometimes having movies like that in the submission queue sparks up interest for people to work on the movies. That might get more visibility. Personally, I don't see a lot of use in keeping 'does not take damage'. While this is an impressive game to avoid damage in, it's even more impressive IMHO to ration health carefully.

That was getting on my nerves too. It finally stops when you enter Twilight Town; maybe that has to do with the bell sounds in that town. Great run though!

I played this game a lot when I was younger, and I never knew about the AKAMA code. It's sort of interesting. It seems like you get a lot more enemies in the first few levels, but then it's roughly the same number in later levels. They do get tougher, though. I also liked seeing the Skull Heads replace the Medusa Heads in this difficulty mode. This was a great choice of goals to play through. I remember having so much trouble beating the sunken city even on the normal mode! Does the water rise at the same rate in normal and hard modes? The downside of this route is Stage 7-05 without Alucard, but it's easy to fast-forward that. On the plus side, the Doppelganger fight in Stage 9 is more interesting too. This was a great run, and I'm happy to vote Yes on this.

That was pretty odd. Does the character health use the same energy meter as the meter that depletes when you go fast? I was trying to figure out how damage worked in this game. The display bar at the top also reminded me of Spy vs. Spy. This wasn't real entertaining, but it was watchable, and luckily it's a short game.

Personally, I found this run a little less entertaining than the PAL run, but they're both good. This has some nice little antics as well. I think the differences are big enough to warrant having both runs published.

This was fairly cool. I wish there were a little less lag, but the run looks solid. Yes vote.

I didn't realize that this game was so different from the Super Gameboy version. This was pretty interesting! There's occasional annoying lag, but the powerup manipulation was interesting, and there was some good platforming in the vertical areas. Good job with some boss strategies too!

This was fairly interesting. At first, it was a drag to see the slower pace of the game at PAL speed. However, it also meant that I could actually follow all the bouncing and nut-throwing that fills the stages, whereas it felt a bit more like a blur in the SNES version. It was a huge help to have the fourth and fifth bosses take less time though. (What were the game developers thinking with such long vulnerability cycles, seriously?) The occasional tricks and shortcuts were pretty nice too! The swim-in-air part was especially surprising. The thing I'm not sure about is: should this obsolete the SNES version? I don't think the games are different enough to warrant separate versions of the movie for each (unlike what happened with The Lion King recently). I'd be in favor of obsoleting the SNES run for now, and if a new improvement comes out on the SNES version which beats this, it will take priority. This may even lead to a situation with an any% run on SNES and a 100% run on Genesis; I'd be ok with that.

I can't run PSXJin on my system, so I have to wait for a video encode. This game is a compilation of the first six Megaman games; which one is being played? And why should the site accept this run along with the run on the NES version?

I liked this run a lot. However, I'm curious about the choice of difficulty. I'm willing to accept the rationale for choosing easy, but how much time do you expect you gain from that? And out of curiosity, how does this run compare against the old submission by link_7777? I believe the old submission didn't have the skip in stage 5, for instance.

Good job cleaning up the movie. I give you credit: it really doesn't look like you wait around much for anything, and that's probably harder than it looks. That walk / run that Gordo does is awesome, though it doesn't really redeem the run. I was entertained enough to vote Meh.

I'd love to see some more details of how that new zipping in Kazakh works. It definitely seemed to be the biggest timesaver of this new route. You also managed to skip the last text from the scientist about Yugderisal, which was nice. We may be overdue for a run of this game which doesn't use any wallzips. It would be hard as hell to optimize, though.

For a repetitive arcade game, this was surprisingly entertaining. There's some good synchronized work with the two players! I agree that stages 25-30 are quite good. The game still drags on a little bit for me, too much to give this a Yes vote, but it's a pretty high Meh. One thing, though... I didn't notice much of a difference between the later stages and some of the earlier ones. You said that the game stops getting more difficult at level 44, but it almost looks like the game stopped increasing difficulty much earlier than that. What's the difference in the later stages?

Nice! Even if the Nightcrawler movement is jerky, it's sort of fun to try and follow along. (It does seem really inconsistent, though, how quick the teleport glitching is. I trust you did the best you could with that.) The boss fight against that guy with the fire looks a whole lot better too.

Nice job getting this published! The game looks like crap controls, but you did a good job with it. The damage abuse falling from the trees in the second stage is really funny. Is the sound person the same guy who did music for Puggsy? The tunes sound like they use the same effects.

Thanks, creatothecann, for the encode! I'd been unable to run BizHawk stuff lately, so that was a huge help. The run is a neat idea. However, to echo the crowd, I don't think it can qualify for publication when it doesn't finish the game. It could make a good link from a current publication, though. For a first-timer, it seems like your optimization is pretty good. My first comment was the approach to the Torizo door. You unleash all five missiles pretty close to the door. Can you get one or two off in the air before the door is visible and save some time that way? At the moment, you have to hang out still for a little bit for your five missiles to hit the door. I was a little concerned about your visit to the Super Missiles you pick up. I know most TASes I've seen for that manage to go through the top area without having the screen scroll up to that level; I don't know if this despawns enemies or anything, but it seems like it could be looked into. You do take a fairly large awkward jump over a flying enemy just before those super missiles. When you go down the shaft after those missiles, it seems like you should be able to veer left some and get closer to the door. I'd certainly like to see if there's any more room for strategy improvement with Spore Spawn itself. It feels that the window for dealing damage is open a little longer than you were able to use, but I can't tell for sure. Good (partially-complete) run! P.S. This doesn't have to do with anything, but I see you live in Athens, GA. So do I :-) Good job picking up TAS skills that I haven't had a chance to cultivate after years of following this site. P.P.S. Do you have any interest in trying to join in on a TAS project? There's probably room for improvement in the current real-time TAS by Taco and Kriole, given all the major discoveries that have come out since then.

Umm... that game is special. It reminds me a lot of Wrath of the Black Manta, and I noticed this before I saw your Game Resources page which talked about the game engines. Both games feature ninjas who walk way too slowly and have hostages to save that they mostly ignore. (This Shinobi guy seems dressed more like an American soldier than like a ninja though.) Both games also feature magic powers that are mostly ignored in a speedrun, and they also only have one good music theme that repeats through the whole game. Bosses look poorly programmed in both games, though it looks way worse here. The sliding red samurai boss was pretty funny when he died! Was Alex Kidd in Shinobi World ripping off the final boss of this game, or was it the other way around? I'm sort of amused. The shooting was good. Meh vote.

Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. That's so weird to have a game that requires a reset. I see the point of it now in the plot (I hadn't played the game before), but it's still odd. This game is definitely way less polished than X-Men 2. It was alright, though still somewhat repetitive. Boss fights featuring Archangel and such were fairly tough for me to follow, but the skips with Iceman were cool. Good job getting to around to TASing this, though I'd say this is a Meh in the entertainment category for me. That ending text is pretty incredible (not necessarily in a good way though).

MegYesDKNo: Do you do any research? If you look at Nitsuja's published movie, he finishes Spring Breeze in fewer than four minutes! Also, if the death does not save you time, it is sloppy. You have no excuse for having sloppy play like that in a TAS when you can rerecord mistakes. I do not think you understand what a TAS should be. You've had these comments on other movies before. EDIT: Even if this is a 100% run, it's slower than a recent submission which was already suboptimal.

This is very much more watchable than before. I still can't get into it as much as I'd like for a Yes vote, though. I am impressed with all technical improvements. Consider my vote a high Meh. Way to massively obsolete an old movie!
