Thanks Circuitous, those are pretty great videos! I think they're a little long for a great playaround (especially with a couple matches that knock Baiken really high in the air), but they show a lot of potential. My favorite was probably the Millia one, given all the planning and aiming of large hair projectiles. Also, the Ky video shows that it IS possible to land the Destroy move on Justice, though I don't know whether it would save time to get it to land in the way this video does.

Spectacular. I don't usually like golf much, but I found this really entertaining. I loved every time the shot looks like it goes over the water and then bounces off a little rock to stay on the fairway. Some of the backspin is also really funny. I was amused to see that Baxter was the second-place finisher. Yes vote and a recommendation for Moons.

andypanther was speaking in favor of your run, you know. And I do like that solution. But really, this is a moot issue. This is the only kind of run that would be worthwhile for this game. It shows the hardest difficulty and the greatest skill. This is also better than the previous run was. I figure it shouldn't be a real issue to accept this for at least Vault tier.

jlun2: Well, going for maximum score will make the run slower. I'm pretty sure we don't need another submission to know that. By including maximum score in the branch, we're (a) being more clear about the goals of the branch (since changing those goals can make the run faster), and (b) setting expectations about what we hope to see in an attempt at obsoletion. A new submission which only goes faster because it gets a worse score would not be viewed favorably.

Guga: I presume your reaction is because you figure the effort in publishing the recent movie feels wasted. While that can be frustrating, keep this in mind: * You don't have to be in a hurry to make a different encode or publication or anything. * We should be encouraging more improvement of movies. I don't think McBobX waited on this submission just to give you more work to do. * If Tarion's movie inspired an improvement, then its publication was not wasted effort! McBobX: Nice improvement! There was a much better Bat fight at the very beginning, and the Dracula Wraith was beaten without any shurikens. The Max Slimer and Peeping Big fights look like they have much less lag. The damage during the warp after Death doesn't look great, but I'm fine with it if it's necessary for the route. I liked the warp in the sky you do shortly afterward to get to the Sky Walkway. It is worth noting that this run skips the elevator down to the final fight. That's sort of funny to see, because the main point of beating all the bosses is to enable that elevator! However, since we're allowing long-distance warps in this category now, the elevator skip is perfectly legal here. Yes vote, though I'd like to hear some details about Legion (corpse) if that's alright. I don't know why you delay as long as you do before attacking the core once it's visible.

Alright then. It's certainly a surprising game, given all the different cartoon-y things, and the run is pretty short. I could see people giving it reasonable votes for entertainment for that reason. I'm going with Meh, myself. I did like seeing the antics in the car chase autoscroller. The other car level didn't look as good, but you commented on why that was. I'll believe you did the best you could there. My recommendation for screenshot is probably the robot character (sort of like Great Mazinger) striking a pose on the roof after the building-climb minigame.

Reducing to "Maxim" wouldn't really be enough. I'm pretty sure we'll always want the 22 second run to be its own category, but this submission has enough support to be separate from the 22 second run. I recommend two Maxim categories: "Maxim any%" for the 22 second run, and "Maxim all-bosses" for this run. I don't think anything beyond this is really necessary. For instance, a run using Maxim to collect all the furniture wouldn't be more interesting than the Juste run that does this, for the reasons I stated about why a Juste in-bounds run is still useful.

Alright, I've now seen this run. Thanks for the temp encode, Spikestuff. I actually liked this a lot. My favorite kill was beating Devil before he moved at all, so he was still over the left-side platform of the room. It seems the battles are better optimized than in the Maxim in-bounds run. I'm surprised that some of the fights don't use shurikens (like Max Slimer, for instance). This brings up the question: should this obsolete the Maxim in-bounds run? With Juste, I'm quite ok with them being separate categories because a run with Juste has to build up the character to have more options for movement. For instance, Juste gets a feather to allow double-jumping. On the other hand, Maxim is already powered up at the start, so the extra time spent going through hallways in the in-bounds run isn't that interesting. This run still had good opportunities to show Maxim dashing through the castle. I was a fan of him jumping through the outside of the Sky Walkway at about 1:30 into the run. Another fun instance was the doubling back at 2:00 to hit an enemy and use it for a fast zip :-) There's also the bit that happens on the way to the final fight. I vote Yes, and I recommend that this obsolete the in-bounds run. P.S. I have one question. Why do you use the shuriken in the final fight instead of just the Mirage Attack?

Wait a second, guys. If you go to Dracula's area with Maxim and you don't use warps, then you do have to defeat all bosses anyway. The "Maxim in-bounds" run IS all-bosses. However, the in-bounds run only uses a light version of wall-sinking glitches, so it doesn't allow warping to far away places and fighting Dracula area. It sounds like this run DOES allow far-away warping, but it refuses to visit Dracula out of principle until all relics are counted. Long story short, I'm not really sure exactly how these runs should be compared.

Wow. This feels a bit like Paperboy upgraded to the modern era. Pepsiman is pretty buff too; you do spend most of the game staring at his butt, after all. Going for 100% was definitely the right choice for entertainment. The pit escapes were cool. I'm curious about how much of this is feasible in a real-time run. It seems like a real-time run should be able to get fairly close to this time, even if it can't do all the same gimmicks. In terms of games where you spend a lot of time proceeding at about one fixed speed, I want to say that this is more interesting than Paperboy, but it's less interesting than something like Star Fox or Crash Bandicoot. This gets a Meh leaning towards Yes. If it didn't have the bonus rounds, it would probably be a Yes in entertainment. ... oh, and Stage 2 Scene 2's ending is awesome.

Great run, and amazing video encode as always! The glitches abusing the floor counter are incredible but also unfortunately boring. Despite that, this was a very good run. I especially liked Milon and Milon-Z. I have two questions though that I don't think were answered in the glitch descriptions: 1) Why does the airship go in diagonal patterns all the time? (For example, when it travels to Mt. Ordeals.) 2) How did the Book of Summons get glitched? I saw the description of how to glitch Tellah for the Meteor spell, but I didn't see anything explaining this one.

Not bad. This is a cool fighting game, but running it for speed takes out most of the fun. I did like that the game displays special move lists before fights, but that's not enough to get this out of Vault territory. My vote is Meh. A playaround of this game, though, could be spectacular.

Wow, great job! There's always going to be a lot of lag with multiple characters fighting, but you've done a good job with it. The fights now feel like half the length I was expecting. Seeing the Dragon Twins get pummeled by their own kicked can was the highlight for me. As for the ending of input, I like the idea of aiming for shortest game time, so I prefer this to the ending where Slick kills himself with objects thrown against the wall. If someone wants to see that kind of ending, they can watch the playaround by JXQ and adelikat. Great job, and I'm glad to see you're back to this game I'd also be curious about a 1p version.

I'm cool with newgame+ being used as a category, since it allows for very different strategies and fewer cutscenes. My question was more about what the name of the category should be... is it "newgame+" or "Replay Mode"? It's not too important either way. I like how things currently look, where we have this run and also the any% run published which starts from a fresh save. As for this run, I don't know the game well enough to really notice all the changes you've made, but it's still a very nice run. Some of the delays still seem pretty odd (like the delays in the enemy room before Shaft), but I trust you did your best with them. Also, don't beat yourself up about the old run... if anything, this has shown how experience makes you even better :-)

Quick question: Is the category of "Replay Mode" different from "Newgame+" used in the previous run?

Sorry for commenting so late on this. After seeing the encode, I'm not really impressed by the game. Wayne and Garth's faces look really creepy between the stages, when you see them fade in with a pair of drumsticks. The platforming doesn't really have much variety except for beating up some guys with predictable attacks, except for the one part where Wayne fights the images coming off the cameras. The gameplay is fine, but it feels like the game could've been much better. This is definitely not as good a movie adaptation as Lethal Weapon was. I'm voting No, but good job on making this run more polished.

I never thought this was a particularly obscure game, but it's definitely a hard one. Great job beating the time of the previous run by such a large margin. The antics pulling around a wormhole were especially interesting. The only downside for entertainment, I think, compared to Blublu's run is that you didn't have as many ways to fool around in the cyberzone. Your second challenge was neat but wasn't as fun as some of the gimmicks Blublu did, like spinning around nonstop in one of them or only turning in right angles. (Then again, he played more of those challenges, so he wasn't as tight for money as you were.)

I enjoy Commander Keen, but no music and no pogo stick does make it more dull. You did manipulate enemies as well as you could, but there are still some pretty noticeable delays for the side-exit glitch. I think you did your best, but this is just much more of a Meh game in the Keen series.

Hi there, I just realized from the posted WIPs that you were working on this run! I don't know if I can be much help beyond being a basic WIP watcher though. I do enjoy this game, enough so that I bought a copy after watching Kaz's TAS. I'm especially curious to see how big a difference it makes to use that glitch you found about swinging an under-leveled sword. If it can't cast Phoenix, then you still can't avoid the level rush at the end of the game, though.

Is this the same game as http://tasvideos.org/1852S.html but on the English version? If so, then you're a few minutes slower than that run.

Wow, this really is Smash TV with a cuter main character, at least 3 times as many enemies, and even more ridiculousness. The final boss alone makes an incredible watch. It definitely feels completely superhuman, but then again, I feel like similar crazy weaving through bullets have been accomplished in real time by Toho players. I vote Star.

I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! Watching the bulky and slow Nightmare wasn't quite as much fun as watching Taki, but I appreciate the faster ring-outs. I did like seeing him squash the hell out of Inferno, and I was surprised to see a very different random set of fighters being fought. However, the quick ring-outs also mean you don't get to see most of what makes the fighters interesting, like Ivy's whip-sword or Voldo's pelvis-first attacks. I'm going with Meh on entertainment.

I've been fairly amused by the Frogger games before (especially the more recent games), but this one really isn't as interesting. The sea stages have way too much waiting. If more of the game were like the other two stage types, this would be a much better game. I admit I didn't watch the whole run; after a couple minutes, I jumped closer to the end to see if there were more close calls I could catch that would show off TASing prowess. While there is definitely skill in this run, there's too much waiting around overall in the run to make it worth a good vote from me. Waiting isn't what Frogger is generally supposed to be all about. I appreciate your dedication to the games; it's a shame this one has so much dead time.

This was pretty good. Certainly there's run-right-for-justice stuff, but the box moving added variety, especially when you had sequence breaks. As a fan of the books, I was pretty amused to see which parts made it into the game, like starting at the butterfly museum. The most fun part for me was probably seeing the horrible collision detection in the car autoscroller. I'd say this gets a weak Yes in entertainment. Nice job!

I still can't say I was entertained by this, but I am glad to see that this is now much more precisely run and efficiently done. It's funny to see the Harikiri move used so much, but it wasn't entertaining enough for me to vote anything other than No. (It's sort of like the run of Bushido Blade II, which is really optimized with a really repetitive result.) That being said, good job with polishing this.
