This is Vault? Really? The comments suggest this run is entertaining enough to be at least a Moon tier run. (Unless this run is being Vaulted mostly because it's a side category.)

Feos: I actually rather liked this version of TASBlend. Nice job with the encode, Mothrayas. Anyway, about the run, this was pretty fun. The game feels even faster than Xtreme, probably because the load points no longer stop you to say "Auto-Save". Things look pretty fluid. Boss fights looked like an utter joke once you had the +2 weapon upgrades. This game does raise some silly questions. Why do DNA souls look like Honeycombs? Why does Volt Catfish's stage have so many doors? What in the world are Gareth and Berkana, and why are their plotlines so vapid? Is now the time to destroyed? More seriously, I'd love to see an explanation of the glitches and some description of how the route was chosen. I'm also curious if it's possible to take a route that fights Berkana instead of Gareth. I vote for Moon+.

... oh... I see, it's not X-Men... Ok, that was hilariously bad. I voted Meh for entertainment because although the ending is pretty hilarious, the gameplay leading up to it has no real redeeming entertainment value. I'm not even sure technical merit really enters into the picture either, which would be one way to make this unsuitable for publication. However, I'd be fine with publishing runs with sex content provided they get appropriate warning labels (maybe by having another intro screen in the video itself, like we do with Encoder intros). Also, there's another question worth considering: is this an official game? I don't remember if TASVideos also changed its policies concerning unlicensed games / hacks when it adopted the Tier system. If unlicensed games can still be turned down for game choice, that would invalidate runs on all these stupid porn hacks of Mario Bros, for instance.

This isn't as interesting as the 2-player run, since you can't do coordinated dancing with two players. However, the play is very good, and I really liked the boss fights. The third boss is especially good. Marx: The Rescue Rangers runs are extremely different when playing with 2-players, mostly because you can kill one player and have them float in a balloon. The Snow Bros runs have less of a difference between 1p and 2p. Suggested screenshot: the end of Stage 15, since the snowman's facial expression after getting the powerup is amazing :-)

Let me start by saying I haven't played any of the 3D Mortal Kombat games mentioned in the submission text, so I don't have a good sense of what is possible with these games and what isn't. Thus, my initial reaction upon seeing some of these glitches is not jaw-dropping, sort of like what NitroGenesis mentions. In some places, it wasn't really clear to me if something was a glitch or instead an awkward combo, partially because this game feels slower than most other MKs for which we've seen runs here. That being said, I thought this had some pretty good points. The third fight definitely is the first show-stopper in terms of glitchy behavior. I really liked the round with Ashrah vs Ermac where each character obliterated the other with high-damage combos. I especially enjoyed how the defeated character was yanked out of the stone dragon's mouth during one Fatality. Perhaps the Goro vs Shao Kahn match was the most underwhelming, since I hoped to see more intense moves from such powerful-seeming characters. If there's any one thing that bugged me the most, it's the high number of fights that ended due to timing out. I want to watch fights where characters kick each other's asses, not where one wins by edging out the other by the time the clock hits 00. It was fun to see the glitch that allows for control between rounds, but once was enough. For this, I'm voting Meh. I think this run is fine for now, and fans of the game should appreciate it, but I'd love to see something grander and better come out later.

Nice improvements again! The glitching in Area 7 was particularly mind-blowing, and I love the total lack of respect for the final boss by spinning in his face.

Nice going, McBobX! I'd be curious to see if you could figure out how to use Gocha's improvements, too.

Alright, the game with the duck-dragon things! This looked fairly good, especially since it seemed you had close calls dodging enemies (even if the enemies don't damage you). One question, though: how close is this to a realtime speedrun? In other words, how is this TAS better than what could be done in real time?

Nice! I guess I'm a little surprised that the improvement is only a few seconds. You did a good job with lag reduction, especially in Stage 3's basement. It seems like the first phase of the boss in 6.5 is a little slower... it looks like you waste a little time dodging the blue energy balls. Maybe it's lag instead though... could you compare this part to the currently published run? I don't know why the current run is Vault-ed. I found this game quite interesting, so I'm voting Yes and recommending the Moon tier.

Very nice! My favorite parts were Richter flying rapidly up tall vertical shafts. The final boss fights were also very good. I'd say mtbRc definitely should get a nomination for DS TASer of the year soon.

The currently-published run in this category is one of my favorites, and I haven't seen this one yet (no encode). However, I'm patient enough to wait for the improvement in Scaravich's stage. Good luck, and I look forward to the result!

Good job! This game looks really good, compared to the original Metal Max; now it mostly looks like a Final Fantasy game. The subway area was a pretty nice touch, even though it was a little too long. Mostly, the game moves at a faster pace than the NES version. I was surprised to see how different your route was... you don't fight pirates anymore, and overall it seems there are fewer battles. I was both glad and annoyed to see random battles, because I liked seeing what the mechanical enemies looked like. I can't vote Yes on entertainment for this, mostly because (a) I can't understand the dialogue, and (b) there's not a lot that's very engaging about the fights or the plot. This is definitely a strong Meh for me, and it certainly should be published alongside the NES run. Good job again!

Most entertaining route so far ;-) It's still really short, and the graphics are more discernible than ET, so it's amusing enough.

This was a pretty good run! It's definitely a lot faster than Sami's last run for this category. However, I have three questions before I vote. 1) Why are there so many missed attacks? 2) I notice that you take damage fighting the bone boss, but then you lose a lot of time dodging the crab boss's chain in the next stage. Would it be faster to instead take damage with the crab boss? 3) There's one stage where you find a secret power-up area very close to the stage's exit. It looks like the time waiting for the secret area is longer than the time needed to finish the stage. Why do you go there?

Very nice! The trick in 1-1 alone is worth a Yes in the entertainment category... I never thought it would be that easy to get into the floor. Can that apply in any of the warpless runs? Great job as well with the musical antics.

Alright, thanks for answering. Those concerns about optimization aren't really all that big. The bigger question is really how entertaining the movie is, and I think you did about the best you could.

Umm... wow, that's... quite a game. Thanks for the encode, though. I wish I actually understood the goal of more of these stages (especially the one with the girl squatting in the middle lane and racking up a lot of points). Parts of it are fairly entertaining. I especially liked these games: * killing the cockroaches * the Arkanoid-type game * using your red car to knock the yellow cars off the building * car slalom * the game which flips the man's picture a lot Some games looked suboptimal though: * the car on the racetrack didn't look very optimized * the elephant stage with the 9 targets * the car tumbling down the platforms collecting stars looked ok but seemed improvable * in the game where you catch a lot of musclemen on a plate, it seems that you miss a bunch which you could have collected I think that the game is just too long and repetitive to get a Yes. I'd say No outweighs Meh here in terms of entertainment. The next question this raises is: is this run different enough from realtime records? Most of the games can't actually be sped up. I suppose that the ridiculously high score on some stages would make this worthwhile for publication. In fact, I'd say the main goal of this run is "maximum score" more so than "perfect 10"... you could do a little worse than you do on some stages and still get 10's, saving a little time (such as the stage with the cola rocket). Screenshot suggestion: the muscled guy on the pogo stick biting the meat (Stage 29, I think). That's just too darn funny.

This was a surprisingly varied game for its length. That was pretty good to watch. I'm especially a fan of the way you end the run... that was pretty stylish, like the hero is cartwheeling for joy.

I saw the encode, and I didn't see any option for closed captions in that video. The YouTube comments weren't very informative to me; two of the three are in Russian, which I don't know how to read. If there are comments in the movie file itself, then I'll try to get a chance to watch this in the emulator.

The game is a little slow, but the density of enemies keeps things tense. There's great damage management. James Jr. is surprisingly much more violent than his father, it seems, even though it doesn't produce particularly interesting fights. Entertainment-wise, I'd say this is somewhere between Meh and Yes. The first stage is definitely too long, and the layout gets fairly repetitive. Stage 3 was especially awesome though.

Absolutely incredible. I never thought that the Big House In The Sky star could ever be done without the carpet, so that was pretty mind-blowing to see. I also loved the flying in Bomb-Omb Battlefield, and Shell Mario is awesome. My favorite ideas for a screenshot would involve either Shell Mario or the spawning Moneybags. There's a lot of good stuff in there though. Congratulations!

Very nice job! The ring collection does get a little old (especially since the minigame is the exact same game each time), but the route planning is definitely impressive. I'm also glad to see a critter still flies into the Machine during the boss fight even when the tube is destroyed :-). Yes vote. I wouldn't want this to obsolete the current any% run, though. The any% run has the cool Toxic Caves skip, for one. Also, this 100% run really adds a significant amount of detouring to the run (unlike the situation with the SNES Aladdin game and the debate of any% vs 100%).

I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Heh, I liked this game enough. The music is catchy, and I like most of the sound effects except for the beginnings of the Yukon stages with all the penguin screeching. The game is a little too repetitive to recommend it for a Moon, I think, but it's not bad. I'll vote Yes on this.

Adelikat brought up a point I'd forgotten about: one benefit of publishing the run is that it can increase its visibility and inspire other people to improve it (after all, that worked for New Super Mario Bros, I guess). However, the run still has to be good. In this case, we judge a fighting game run primarily based on its entertainment and demonstration of skill, and this run is lackluster in these areas. Ultimately, I'd reject it because I don't think it's a quality run, not because its goals are questionable. The redundancy with this version and the SNES version is a further reason.

I'm in agreement with grassini here. The thing is: runs of fighting games DO base their merit on entertainment value. It would be one thing if we didn't have a published MKII run yet, but we do, and it's better than this run. I would imagine this should be rejected on the grounds of being suboptimal in achieving its goals.
