Hey, I think a clarification is in order. Archanfel and I read Spikestuff's comments a certain way, and I don't think it's how they were intended. Spikestuff wrote "And I was honestly expecting a larger time difference between this and the 12 year old movie than what's presented here with no tradeoffs." I think we interpreted this (Archanfel and I) to mean "You should be able to do better than this, because it's an old movie with tradeoffs". Maybe the intended message was closer to "It's quite impressive the old movie was so good, since we only get minor improvements even 12 years later!" I'm not sure which meaning was intended (and it could be a mix of both), but I presume the meaning was more positive than we first thought. Also, regarding level 2 and 4 bosses, frame rules suck.

How much time does this gain over an optimal damageless run? It looks like there are gameplay improvements other than just damage boosts in the movie description. The previous run may be 12 years old, but it was a heavily optimized movie that finally has had improvements. I wonder if you're being overly critical of this, Spikestuff, because of past issues with branch names and the previous run category. I think this is awesome.

Strizer86, is your YouTube picture showing Quarble from the Messenger with a beer? That is amazing. More on topic, it's awesome to see this game improved. I don't have time to check it out now, but I look forward to it. Out of curiosity, is that weird Stage 5 warp glitch (that takes you to Stage 6) reasonable to pull off unassisted?

It's pretty crazy how much faster this run has gotten. Ironically, it's probably a little less entertaining to me now since so many stages are skipped, but the play is great. Yes vote.

Thank you for the encode, EZGames69! What a great run. The single-player run is already a lot of fun, but the crazy resource management of this run is even better. I'm also glad that the 3rd boss and the 5-2 autoscroller are so much faster now.

I actually really like this run. A pure pacifist game with no punches at all (except for bosses) is either literally impossible or would require crazy amounts of despawns to slow the game down tremendously. I also appreciate a couple boss strategies that only use punching, especially stages 2-3 and 5-2. I vote Yes for this to be a separate pacifist publication. It contrasts well with the any% run: that run also avoids damage, whereas this one shows some minor timesaves from damage. My only concern is that the boss in 3-3 seems a little unoptimized to my untrained eye. I feel like you should be able to jump a bit in each cycle and start punch volleys higher up, maybe saving a handful of frames by the last hit. I am also a bit concerned about how slow the 5-2 fight is compared to the any% run, but I doubt there's any other strategy that doesn't make him run away.

Really smooth Door Skip Glitch, and I did notice the strategy change for that 3rd warp gate. Nice job. This game has such a confusing layout for glitchless playthroughs; I don't know how people are expected to figure out the point of the game on their own with no hints or walkthroughs.

The run has a bit more variety than I feared, with a ridiculous collection of enemies (and Rambo's sprite that looks like he's wearing a leotard). But ultimately the game is too repetitive to be that entertaining, even with the wall-clip glitches. I had to vote No on entertainment. That being said, the optimization looks smooth.

It's cool to see this game again. Unfortunately, by putting in the new use of the wrong warp glitch, you cut out so much of the game that the new run is actually less interesting than HappyLee's movie. Great job making this, but I had to vote Meh on it. For the people mentioning 100%, it gets really tedious. I watched sistermind's run a long time ago, and with no map available it all ends up looking quite repetitive. Having an "all abilities" run might be a nice compromise though.

Nice improvements! Would you have any interest in a 100% run that gets all the major collectible upgrades? I think it would be really interesting as long as we don't have many more sections requiring a lot of Gil's bombs.

If the run could be more entertaining, that's nice. But honestly, why is there such an uproar about the playaround? We're talking about someone finally completing a massive improvement on a very old movie, with significant work done to mitigate lag. If edits can be reasonably done to make some parts more fun, without compromising lag and such, go ahead and do it. But I'm not going to require someone to redo major parts of a run just for entertainment value.

This is always a bit of a strange run, because I don't think the added quests do all that much to make the run more interesting, and the "blast from the past" events are more cute trivia than gameplay-influencing. But this was a solid run, with tight luck manipulation, of an interesting RPG. I'd vote for the category to be "blast from the past, all quests" instead of "100%", since 100% is pretty ambiguous. This run does not collect all chests or unlock every attack, I think, but it does complete the sidequests. The "blast from the past" objectives don't count as sidequests. Yes vote.

Incredible run and detailed submission text. I'm really surprised at the changes in levels 9 and 12, and I don't think I'd ever seen that 6-3 spike abuse before either. The Dark Queen fight is my favorite part.

I'm not really a fan of the early input end, though I respect your reasons for picking it. Surprisingly interesting game with a pinball twist, sort of like an edgier version of NES Pinball Quest. Yes vote. EDIT: I misremembered the game as "Pinball Fantasy".

I'm posting this before I've actually watched the run, but the description brings up an important question. If the choice of player name gives your party high levels, how do we know this is a glitch and not an in-game cheat? How do you end up running arbitrary code? (Compare this, for instance, with the "GT Code" run of Super Metroid.)

As far as the actual run looks, the changes are mostly too minor for me to notice without watching this alongside the previous movie. However, nice job with minor optimizations, especially getting lag out of a GB game!

I can't fix the "related games" issue, but I just added some cross-linking description text. Now all three systems have similar text to jump to the other two runs. Thanks for pointing it out!

My main comment on this movie is that 100km/h is pretty fast for most scooters to drive. That one dodge of the bus that you mention is definitely a highlight. It's annoying how you just barely run out of time with the first player's turn. Meh.

On the subject of this actual movie, the improved snapping mechanics make this WAY more interesting of a watch for people unfamiliar with the game. Really good luck manipulation, and things flow a lot more smoothly now. I don't mind the deathwarps either. Now go pay back that 500 rupia debt you took out ;-)

If this is anything like your previous submission, with a few seconds saved, this should be a real treat! I'm also waiting on an encode, but no rush. There are a lot of new plot skips compared to Eratyx's run.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Shoutouts and thanks to mklip2001 for arguably being the nicest and most supportive person on the forums.
