Eh, it is a good run, even if it somewhat confusing. The graphics felt really cluttered to me. I'm more concerned that it's only been a few days and yet this was judged with so little feedback. But the process has never ultimately been democratic...

Man, what a weird game. I haven't played it before, and I had trouble figuring out what was really going on, until I noticed a few things: * The Wikipedia page at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Putty_%28video_game%29 is a little helpful. * When your character has absorbed a robot, there is an icon of a blue robot in the upper-left corner. * The numbers that say "In" and "Out" tell you how many robots you have brought to the ship. For each one collected, "In" goes up by one and "Out" goes down by one. The stage finishes when "Out" is zero. I'll have to rewatch this when I've got more energy to pay attention properly. In the meantime, maybe a couple of these details should end up in the submission text. Could somebody make at least a temp encode?

Pretty good! The game still has a little awkward pausing, and I'm not sure I like the death when fighting Ozric, but things are definitely smoother in this run. The fight against Dippy is baffling in a funny way, too. Yes vote. This may also be the first run to obsolete one of maTO's movies. As for movie suggestions, you primarily play Genesis games, right? Here are some of the current old runs that could probably use an improvement: * Altered Beast: 2 players on Hard difficulty (The judging decision on FODA's run states that a Hard mode run for the game can obsolete a run on Normal difficulty.) * Michael Jackson's Moonwalker

I pretty much agree with what nesfreak said. The run shows off some neat tricks and has passable quality, I thought. It would also be nice to see an improvement, but in the meantime this is fine. I must say, though, there's a whole lot of vehicle segments in this game. That got a bit monotonous for me, but not too much to change my vote. Yes.

If half the starting input is copied from the previous movie, should the old authors be added as coauthors? Regardless, congratulations on improving the glitch!

Wait, really?? Sorry then... serves me right for not watching the movie first. I'll have to get back to this.

I haven't watched this yet. I like the idea of a full run on this game, and I'm glad you made an improvement. However, I'm concerned that while it's an improvement, it's fairly small for a run of this length. For instance, look at the more recent run which glitches to the end. There is a lot more lag reduction in that short run than MattyXB had, if I recall correctly. Is that level of quality present in this movie? Also, Nach: I think the longer input file should be used for this movie. MattyXB should also have extended his input to finish the credits, but it's too late to change that now. When you make the timing standards consistent, Atomnium saved about 15 seconds of time from MattyXB's movie.

I've been trying to watch this in the emulator, but when I download the Windows binaries for version 1.1.0, my program immediately crashes. I didn't have this issue when I installed 1.0.2 some time ago. Does anyone have any suggestions here? Sorry about putting this question here, but I wasn't sure which forum in the BizHawk Forum area should be used for that type of question. Anyway, time for some comments related to the actual movie (seen via the temp encode). I'm definitely glad to see the improvements! The boss fights are noticeably better (especially the mammoth), and you've reduced a bunch of lag (especially underwater). However: * Did you test what happens if you use the ice glitch to slide into the machine part at the end of the ice stage? * The entertainment during waiting periods isn't as good this time, I thought. Less gratuitous head-bobbing to the music and rapid ledge catches, and you should've gone chasing after the vampire boss with your club after he was beaten (like he was being swept out of the castle or something). All in all, though, this certainly deserves a Yes vote.

This was a very nice run! Even if you were mostly just running and jumping, with fairly little difficulty in dodging obstacles, there's plenty of stage variety and speed abuse to make this fun. Ironically, I found the boss fights to be a lot less interesting than the rest of the run; I'm not even entirely sure what exactly you're supposed to be doing with the first and third bosses. Anyway, this gets a Yes vote.

Huh? I was under the impression that this site had a whole category for pacifist runs.
The issue isn't whether the site can accept pacifist runs at all. The issue is: does a pacifist run look impressive enough and different enough to merit publication alongside a regular speedrun? For instance, the Contra pacifist runs are usually considered impressive enough because of how many enemies and bullets need to be dodged. Furthermore, the pacifist run usually has to pick up weaker weapons, making the run even more challenging. Mitjitsu doesn't think this run shows off enough new strategies, compared to the currently published run. That's a fine opinion, though I disagree with it. I think the bat dodging and some of the boss fights are fresh enough to make this interesting and publication-worthy, especially the Death fight. To each his own.

This ended up being a lot quicker than I thought it would be. I especially liked all the bird dodging in Stages 7 through 9, and I thought Stage 11 was really funny with you jumping away from the hunchbacks the whole time. The deaths in Stages 15 and 18 are a bit distracting, but they're not too bad and are ultimately necessary to save time. I love how this run made it look much easier to dodge enemies than it really is when playing real time.

Sorry about the late response to this thread, but I finally got a chance to check this out. This was quite nicely done! The fleapit stages definitely look smooth, and I like the cave levels at the end of Akyrillic. I'm sort of surprised by how much I like this movie, since I really didn't like playing this game on console. The game felt long, and I was pretty annoyed by Plok's character... he seemed more like a temperamental flea racist than somebody who really owned the right to the land ;-)

Wow, you've been very productive lately, Marx! This was pretty cool. It's nice to see the use of some other spells, especially the time-stopping one. Even if the time stop is a little repetitive in 4-1 through 5-1, the reduced lag is well worth it. I was also surprised to see how much you used the regular weapon in 6-2. My favorite change was seeing you kill the 2-2 boss in one round. That was a clever way to save your magic. I have one question, though. In the stages were you use the time-stop magic a lot, it seems that you break unnecessary powerup holders. (There's an ax in 4-1, and a weapon powerup and an ax in 4-2, that you completely skip.) Why do you take the time to break those powerup holders?

Ok, after watching this movie, it seems alright but a little questionable. Fewer grenades are used in bosses: as a result, Boss 2 looks worse, but maybe Boss 4 is better (I haven't done the timing to know for sure). The beginning of Stage 4 looks a little better, maybe. I'm also curious about time comparisons in the final boss. It seems pretty clear that the more you can manipulate the boss to rush forward, the longer he stays on the ground, and I don't remember if klmz or Marx had better luck with that boss.

Just to double-check: if this movie were played at NTSC speed, which is 6/5 times as fast as PAL, would the the movie length instead come out to 9:15? In that case, this would be roughly a 30-second improvement over klmz's run. I'm definitely looking forward to checking this out.

This is hilarious. However, it doesn't actually beat the game! It gets Game Over, which means you lost the game. Is it possible to extend input a little longer and beat the Dark Queen from where you are? EDIT: Oh, I guess I didn't watch the video long enough. The Game Over music is playing, and yet after T. Bird's Game Over speech, the game triggers an ending cutscene. Wow. I don't really know how to vote on this. I think this should get accepted as a separate category, but I'm not sure that "Yes" is the right vote for that.

Yes! This is way, way, better. You mow down lots of enemies and jump less on sticky ground. It's really funny to see how long the enemies delay before shooting, even when you're running right at them with a gun. Some pros of this movie: Stage 3 has kickass music. Early in Stage 4, you had some bits with awesome flamethrower dodging. The autofiring gun animation while rising in the fans was pretty cool too. I'm glad that I could still be inspirational with one or two comments. In any case, this definitely merits a Yes vote. Further improvements may be possible, but this really flows properly now.

Huh, maybe I watched an old version of the movie... oops. I only saw one player. I'll rewatch this later tonight and check this out properly. Sorry about that. EDIT: Ok, now I watched the correct run. This is a lot more fun than the old run, with the 2nd player doing lots of glitchy poses and destroying more enemies behind you. Stage 4 is still really confusing (but in a good way). Nice job Marx, and you get a Yes vote.

Oh, you mean the two players are overlapped most of the time? Hmm... Well, that definitely hurts entertainment, though I guess it also removes some lag. Still, I wish the second player could be used more interestingly. EDIT: I probably watched the wrong movie. I'll update my comments later.

Pretty nice! I like the glitchy kill of Stage 2's boss, and Stage 4 is really broken. I don't understand how the boss dies instantly in that stage. However, you said this was a 2-player run. I didn't see you use the second player at any time. EDIT: I watched the wrong version of the run, which is why I thought it was 1-player. I'll check the right version out later.

The screenshot isn't that exciting, true. However, one of the nice things about it is that the characters have fairly similar poses, so that it actually sort of looks like the runs are using the same input. If the characters looked very different between the games (like if one of the games was in a cutscene), I feel it would be less convincing of a multi-game screenshot. I wouldn't be against changing the picture, though, provided the new screenshot can still show some synchronization between the games.

I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! This isn't that interesting, but it is a little impressive. From what it sounded like from Truncated's description in the previous submission, this route is not really feasible in realtime, since monsters would be much more likely to catch up to you and attack you. That makes this run different from something like the Myst DS TAS, which has no strategy changes between realtime and TAS. Another good comparison would be the crazy short RPG runs done by people like MiezaruMono. I would imagine those runs fall into roughly the same boat as this one, except that those runs have more luck manipulation. For what it's worth, I think this is on the boundary, and I'm voting Meh. Thank you, though, for the 20% speed encode!

Wow, this was unexpected. Very nice! It was fun to see more shots in play, especially the one in 1-3 that dug into the low tunnel and collected a bunch of coins. I also thought it was really funny how the first lion boss exploded twice. I'd recommend getting a screenshot from 4-3, where Mario is following behind one of those missiles, and it looks like the missile is growing out of his plane's nose. Alternately, there's that one place in 4-1 with three ninja guys in the air stacked up over each other; that would also make a cool screenshot.

Thank you for the subtitles with some improvements. There were some very nice strategy changes, and your style was pretty good too. Yes vote. I've got a question, though. In Stage 1, two things confuse me: 1) When you revisit and play the music box, you also walk right through an uncompleted stage! How do you do that? 2) Why does the game still remember how many stages you completed after you reset?
