I thought this game was pretty varied, up until the boss fights. It takes a while to go stab those bosses with a spear, it seems. It wasn't enough to significantly detract from the entertainment, though. The 5-1 boss was especially impressive, when you see all those other bad guys staying idly away.
I'd say this gets a Yes vote.
Two random notes:
* The theme of this game reminds me a fair bit of Street Fighter 2010.
* This is a Taxan game! I think 8 Eyes may be the only other Taxan game that has a submission here.

Incredible. The card cat is deeply impressive. Nothing can make the big robot particularly interesting, but I'm very glad to hear it's a shorter fight.

I feel like this run overused the sound of backwards-skidding (even if the skidding doesn't lose time). Apart from that, though, it's a good run! I especially like when, in 4-2, an enemy is killed on the left side of the screen and its score display appears partially on the right side. Yes vote.

Hmm, I'm fairly happy with the game choice. The graphics are simple and generally clean, the music is awesome, and there's a fair bit of length and stage variety. The controls seem clunky, but that's not necessarily a run-killer.
However, this run isn't precise enough at this point. The main offender is Mission 4. There are a number of places when it looks like you jump off a rising lift too late, so you overjump the ledge you want to reach. You walk past switches that need to be turned on or off. There are missed shots over enemies' heads. And I'm pretty sure that some of the damage you took in Mission 4 would be much better spent in Mission 5, so that you don't have to wait and duck under the machinegun streams.
Good attempt, but this really could use more touch-up. I do think that it'll be publishable once it's cleaner, though.

Sorry about the first post here, but I never actually knew about this thread until just now. I saw the published movie for this come up when going through random movies, and I was amused by it, but I was also thinking ziplock's run is really dated by now.
Anyone out there still interested in trying to obsolete this? I figure we've gotten enough action lately with short cheesy NES games (generally run by goofydylan8, it seems ;-) ) that this run would be worth a shot again.

nfq: If you want to be a literal stickler about this, the main goal is to complete the game as fast as possible... any% just means that the run can complete any percentage of the stages it deems appropriate in order to have a fastest completion. The run is not required to cover the whole maps (like that one run of Symphony of the Night), nor is it required to do things like unlock bonus stages.
any% has been a pretty common goal for games when there is a possibility of also doing a 100% run which completes "everything" (the definition of "everything" depends on which game it is).
Granted, you may be trolling, and I just walked into it ;-) If not, here's an answer that I hope works for you.

Would you have any interest in doing a run without wall-zips? It's up to you whether you actually get all the items (i.e. you could skip Disk 1 and maybe the ability to charge your cipher).

Derakon: You've got a good point. I don't really like games 1 and 2 of the series as much, but I still found them short and tricky enough to vote in favor.
Nostalgia aside, I would say the main redeeming features of these games from an entertainment standpoint are:
1) Ability to pick ordering of stages (to an extent), making a route a little less linear. Keen 4 was especially good at this, since some stages had items needed for others.
2) One hit kills you, which leads to some tense situations
3) Ammo management; is getting the pistol worth the time spent?
4) The pogo is really hard to control, so precise use of it looks pretty spiffy.
I basically voted yes for this run on account of points 2) and 4)... I know enough about this game to know how tough the moves were to perform. I wouldn't have voted Yes for this if it were significantly longer, though.

Dwedit: Yeah, that was amusing to me. Sometimes she throws hearts, and sometimes it's money. I don't know if it's purely random, or if it's solely based on how much health you have when you beat the Stalfos.
This run is quite fun. Near nothing makes any sense from a casual gamer's perspective anymore, except for the Cucco collecting. (Running through Zora's River backwards was particularly amusing.) I'm quite ok with this obsoleting the 56 minute Any% TAS on the US version.

Lastly, there's an awful lot of new people popping up in this thread. I guess a run like this is ridiculous enough to encourage people to join and give comments! (As long as it's not multiple accounts by one person...)

That was intensely colorful and a lot of fun. Not only do you have crazy Sonic speeds, you also get the awesome gameplay variety of the different Wisps. Even when the Void was slow, I still liked watching it... it's sort of hypnotic.

Alright, I watched the run. I think the NES sequel was a slightly better game, mostly because the weapon switches are quicker there and the dialogue doesn't scroll like a William Shatner speech :-) This is still good, though, and it's definitely well-done for Gameboy standards.
You did a really nice job with this run, too. The lag is noticeably reduced. Some boss fights are way faster. Skipping the first wings upgrade was awesome, and it was plenty surprising how you took damage on the spikes in Breager's palace to avoid weapon switches.

This run does make a marginally better choice than Super Mario Bros 1 for a minimum-presses run. I especially found 8-1 and the airship autoscroller the most interesting. The autoscrollers turned more into a guessing game for me, trying to predict when you'd jump next before hugging the walls.
I definitely think this is publishable. Especially with this run, luck manipulation, or very precise reactions, play a key role in timing your bounces to save jumps. That provides a good demonstration of superhuman play.

Nice going ;-). I like the idea of the prank. It's sort of surprising that there's been so little judging attention given to this.
There have been some other noteworthy "prank" submissions to TASVideos. One of the main ones I can recall was the last submission to Kung Fu before Phil's currently-published movie. It's fairly amusing to check out.
Also, as someone who hasn't really played this game much, the 100% run was awesome but long to sit through. I definitely appreciated the effort you put in it, but it was also easier for me to stay fully interested during the short glitchy movie here.

Nice job with making an Atlas video of this game! However, the "Insane Edition" thing isn't really that interesting with this one. The problem is that the looping video part doesn't have any of the small triangle ramps, so the biker's not getting "insane" speeds that this run is more known for.

This isn't quite as entertaining as Nikujin, since you're not actually trying to fight enemies. The rapid grappling parts are cool, though, and the play seems pretty solid. It's a nice short game. Yes vote.

Good:
* You don't use the same combo for every fight.
* Some moves look funny.
Bad:
* Extremely repetitive
* Fighting game TASes don't look good when you play for speed.
Good try, but I think this can be better. I'm pretty sure there are funnier fighting games for the NES, if you like playing the NES best.

Wow! This has all the aspects of a good TAS: fast, somewhat glitchy, action-packed, decent stage variety, comic relief, and nice music! (Oh, and also nudity.) This is what Bio Force Ape should have been.

Oh wow, this is one of those games that I almost forgot I played as a kid. Honestly, since some of the fun/frustration of the game for me was getting lost finding which address to visit, some of the entertainment was lost on me (I may just be strange though).
Nevertheless, this run makes the game more fluid than it really is. It also is amusing how Dick Tracy will shoot lots of bad guys, but yet he insists on properly locking up the actual culprits.
I'm voting Yes, but I imagine a lot of that vote is nostalgia.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically.

Since I don't know Japanese, I found this a little less entertaining than the current run because I couldn't see what kinds of attacks the enemies were trying. However, the fact that you've skipped more of the game and fought faster far overshadows the entertainment hit. This time, all your battles finished before the music looped, for instance.
Very nice going, and congratulations on such an impressive first submitted run!

I'm surprised this run hasn't gotten any more attention in the last three weeks. I decided to rewatch it, especially after BambooCutsman's very informative post. Thank you for that!
I still am not too crazy about the music... I don't think that the jazz tunes really match up to the action (but I do particularly like the music for Saigyouji's stage). There's still way too many enemies, as opposed to having enemies in particularly clever locations.
However, I did like the run better the second time through. Knowing more about which character was which, and which powers they had, I could appreciate the weapon choices. The run really picks up steam after the broom is acquired. Scarlet's stage, in particular, shows off some nice weapon management and glitchiness.
