Yeah, I'd be curious to see that. If the heart management works out, that's a good timesaver.

I finally managed to watch this. WOW. You've made pretty much every autoscroller interesting, you juggled eggs and enemies without losing much time (if any), and you had some really nice route changes and sequence breaks. That's incredible. This absolutely gets a Yes vote. I believe there was previous discussion about whether a 100% run should obsolete this any% category. Before this run came out, I would probably say the 100% should obsolete any%. However, this run has showed off major skips that a 100% run couldn't do, so now I support having them as separate categories. Also, in terms of screenshots, I really think the screenshot should have some juggling, as this run exemplifies enemy juggling. Some possibilities include: * Anything from the beginning of 4-1, which shows juggling occurring while still running at full speed * 4 dead lakitus in the wall in 4-2 (when Yoshi bounces on a spring) * The beginning of 6-1, juggling skeleton Goonies into the shielded jungle guys * 6-egg juggling in 6-5, near the fire shyguy

First of all, the simple facts for me: I liked this run. I really appreciated seeing Mother Brain killed quickly with the Plasma Beam instead of using Power Bomb Shields. I like seeing some slight extra stunts, like getting enemies to shoot more shots for further damage boosts at the expense of lag (one noticeable one was in the room by the area where you could get Spazer). I do think that the menu switches feel a little questionable (I'm not sure why Speed Booster is deactivated that one time, for instance), but I can go with it. So basically, I like this run enough to want it to be recognized on the site. Saturn has done excellent work. I don't think that this run should obsolete the real-time run, but I can't really make up my mind about whether a separate category is a good idea. The changes between this and the real-time run are noticeable but still not huge. Anyway, I don't think I'll vote. I did want to say though: Congratulations, Saturn, on your continued work at really pushing games further.

Great work. You TASed this quite quickly, even with all the redos. The final battle looks especially great with the boss shooting his blue shots only once, and the larva fight is also sexy. Yes vote.

Wow, what a crazy little game! This is pretty entertaining, except for the parts of two boss fights when you have multiple-choice options. The music and graphics are pretty impressive. (I just wish the music didn't reset with each door transition... World 3 had awesome music.) I would vote Yes for this, but Sonikkustar seems to have linked to a faster run. I'd like to hear some more details comparing these two runs first before I vote.

First of all, thank you, c-square, for also providing an encode of your run! It was especially helpful for seeing this. Second, I do admit that adventure games have issues as TASes. The dialogue and text boxes are usually much more interesting / relevant in these runs, so skipping over them quickly loses more entertainment than in games with more action. You also don't have luck manipulation to the same extent as in RPGs. Given this, a good adventure game TAS needs to exhibit sufficient variety, probably not last too long, and demonstrate enough challenge in route planning. I'd say this one passes! The run is fairly bite-sized and still goes through a lot of different scenarios. This run makes the game look a lot easier than it actually is, and that's a plus in this case. Nice job with your first run, and I vote Yes.

I finally got some time to watch an encode (though it was of an older version). Thank you so much, Mister Epic! Even without the latest improvements, I'm quite impressed! This run feels somewhat like the 16-star runs of old, but it has a nice polish. I liked seeing Yoshi's gameplay and the extra stage you have to play to unlock Mario. It was also interesting to see the Bowser stages done without any BLJs. This run, in my opinion, offers enough differences to be published along with the N64 runs of the game. I vote Yes.

I finally got to watch this, and to echo the crowd, there are some quite impressive and entertaining stunts here. Some of them really require slow speed to work. For instance, the stages with lots of Cheep Cheeps (2-3 and 7-3, I think) are much more fun when you can't run past the fishes, so you instead kill many of them from underneath. I'd suggest a screenshot for this run come from 7-3... I think there was a part with two fish and a koopa shell on screen, and the fish died when it was on top of Mario. There's really only one argument I could give for keeping the currently published walkathon: since this is sort of a novelty category anyway, the warped run is more "bite-sized". The novelty doesn't really get a chance to wear off. I don't think that's a particularly strong argument, though, since it's more impressive to show that EVERY stage can be done without pressing B. So, I vote Yes to publish this, and I'd additionally recommend that this obsolete the warped run. Nice job!

I was so disappointed to find out that it freezes Yoshi momentarily, or I would have been all over those fuzzies :P
I also think that your running speed is significantly slower when "tripping Fuzzy". Granted, being dizzy also causes the ground to produce inclines... I'd be interested to see some statistics as to how quickly you can go when dizzy compared to running normally. In any case, I haven't watched this yet, but great job! I'll edit in comments later. Also, I recommend the screenshot you suggested behind the Potted Ghost. Although the frog shot is amusing, any player can see that for themselves when playing. Getting behind the Potted Ghost is decidedly abnormal. The fact that the Shy Guys look confused is also funny. Lastly, the picture has only a few things to focus on, so it's not too distracting.

I watched this and the Eri run. I like the Eri one a little more, but this one is really nice too! Some boss fights drag on a bit, but the dodging is entertaining. I'd say this deserves a Yes vote. I suggest we publish both this and the Eri run since the strategy changes between the two characters are very obvious and are both interesting.

I watched both this and the Marco run, and I prefer this one. Now that I know how strong Eri is with grenades, I like the use of deaths here. I do think it looked sloppy with Tarma, but it's not enough to dissuade my Yes vote, given how brutally quickly the final battles went (especially compared to the Marco run). I'm voting Yes.

I haven't had a chance to actually watch this movie, but thanks to feos's awesome little images, I see the main change involved. Each ending definitely has its own merits. x2poet's version makes the battle look really easy, and adelikat's version ends sooner and gives the impression of "How is the turtle not getting hurt??" I think that, in this case, ending input earlier doesn't seem particularly impressive (especially compared to the early input end in Gimmick!, for instance). I prefer adelikat's manner of ending the run, and I'll vote No on this. However, x2poet, I thank you for trying your hand at old movies and finding possible improvements! I definitely appreciate the work you've done on this, even if I don't feel it should end up on the front page.

The FM chip sounds sort of strange. It's nice in parts, but if you think it's making the game laggier, I'd avoid using it. Better job with riding the snake at the waterfall. It's also clear that the helmet smash technique is saving you a lot of time with the final bosses. The first fight against the flying wizard seems sort of slow, though, compared to the 100% run. In both of those runs, you're primarily using the helmet smash, right?

I finally got a chance to check this out. That's looking really good! It seems really obvious now to use the route by the training ground; nice find. The moth boss fight also looks good (I feel like a good screenshot would come from the screen where you get its scroll). Just a couple questions: why do you pause at the first boulder in the cave instead of taking damage? And why do you kill the ground snake in the waterfall area instead of landing on it to damage boost?

I think I enabled Multitap and three joysticks, but I still got the desync at the very last hit. I'm not entirely sure what I did wrong there. Nice job dancing to the Mana Beast battle, by the way. Though I'm curious: How could you damage the Mana Beast without even casting Mana Magic? I was afraid at first that the Weapon Charge glitch would make the boss battles too uninteresting. Now that I've seen the full run, I can say that this wasn't a problem. The glitches and manipulation are awesome. Very nice job!

Thank you, Canar, for the temp encode! As for the run, this was pretty nice. The pace seemed pretty good after the first couple stages (star platforms are boring), and the museum levels were pretty awesome. My favorite bit is seeing you race Edgar Ektor up the final level. Yes vote. Also, I recommend a screenshot from the museum's second level, where Aero falls down the right side of a few spiked blocks and doesn't get hurt. EDIT: The screenshot would be at about 22:02 in the temporary encode.

Oh man, I remember trying this as a kid, and I don't think I made it much farther than the first dog enemy. Given that, it's satisfying to watch this game being ripped apart. On the other hand, the simple sound effects with no music were pretty annoying (they fit better with Duke Nukem than they do with this game). I'd say this merits a Yes vote. However, this does raise the question: have people figured out a policy on which game speeds are acceptable for PC games which are CPU throttled? We had this same issue with Syobon Action and with Spider-Man.

Canar, thank you for the encode! I can't generally watch PSX games on the emulator, so this was a big help. As for the run, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. I love the published all-stages run for this game, as it shows off the challenge of the game without delaying. Here, there's fairly significant issues with the flow of the run, such as when you have to die to backtrack to save more Reploids. (It does help, though, that the death animation is very short.) The stage revisits aren't particularly interesting, with the notable exception of the laser madness in Shield Sheldon's secondary area. The Blade armor was pretty cool though. I liked seeing Nightmare Mother and High Max ripped apart with it (even though the High Max fights from the other runs are my favorite parts of those runs). I'd say this is good enough for a Yes. By the way, how does the game decide who you fight in the secondary areas (Zero, High Max, or Dynamo)?

Nice work with this run! The game looks pretty fun to play (I haven't tried it). However, the hack's visual style is really distracting from the gameplay. It's cool that you can already start moving before the level screen has come up fully, but when the levels are completed as quickly as they are, this means a high percentage of the run is just watching screen transitions. It's a similar problem as the Knuckles Chaotix run this site has. I'm not voting, but it would probably be Meh. I think you did a nice job with the run, marzojr, but I'm not sure if the hack is run-worthy.

You know, I was sort of expecting that once you had teleporting and fallthrough glitches, the game would change really drastically. That turned out not to be the case; even though there's definite skipping, the gameplay is mostly intact. It is really nice to see you don't need to get red crystals. The boss fights were especially awesome. However, I'm a little concerned about the final Dracula fight. The bat attacks look pretty ugly compared to the previous movie. Anyway, Yes vote, and I have a few possible screenshot suggestions: * The final punch on the Twin Orangutan bosses * Early in the last stage, you get to a place where two ghouls jump at you from behind. That looked like a good screenshot. * The Dracula fight, when he's giving you the silly kick in response to your hits... it's like you two are performing Capoeira.

This isn't really all that entertaining, but an improvement is an improvement. Nice work dissecting the RNG. And on the plus side, I think we can get another screenshot involving some queen stroking.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! It would impress me if the player shoots all the time with different weapons, still not being able to hurt a creature.
Nifty idea. However, there's a few reasons why this couldn't be done when aiming for fastest time. 1) Shooting alters randomness, so missed shots are used to manipulate enemies to appear in different places. Recall that each jump costs a frame. 2) The big reason: switching your weapon removes the Rapid-fire "R" upgrade. This would lose quite a lot of time in the run by not having it for certain points (like the base levels). In any case, nice job again Soig! The death at the end looks a little bad, but I find it funny, like the guy sacrified himself for his planet. Are any of your improvements applicable to the 2-player run?

Thank you for the temporary encode! Also, the run was pretty fun! Yes vote. The ending is really creepy, though, compared to the rest of the game.

Nice screenshot idea, Noob Irdoh! However, it may make more sense to keep the screenshot as the OoB regions, since that really summarizes more of what this run is about. Good improvement! The run is still quite funny.

Hmm... not too bad. If only the character in Rolan's Curse moved this quickly... The game feels fairly underwhelming. It's cool to see that you're manipulating lots of misses from bosses, but it's still boring to see fights take 10-20 turns, most of which use the exact same attack. The pauses from dodging enemies doesn't help the entertainment either. The text boxes are fairly funny, with some slight Engrish. You did a good job with this, but the game feels like a Meh.
