This was a lot of fun! I really like the level design in this game. The only annoyance was seeing you fight the exact same 5 boss types each stage, with increasing health in each stage. Yes vote. I'm glad to see another run from you!

Thanks for the encode, Mister Epic! The run seems fairly simple at first. It was more fun as it got harder a few stages in. It could have been a more fun game if it was styled more like Wai Wai World, where you could play more often with the characters you rescue. Oh well. Still, if you managed to make 30 seconds of improvements, that means the game is more technically difficult than it seems, and that's impressive. Yes vote.

Ok, I finally managed to watch this and not fall asleep partway through. I figured out the main issue that makes this run more annoying for me: the game has only one music theme in the stages. All of the good shooters need more than one theme, so that there's some sense of variety. Overall, that's the main issue of the game; for the most part, the stages were the same as each other. There are also few enough chances to pick up weapons that you don't have a lot of time to experiment with using new weapons. The effort should've still been made, though, to show off more weapons if possible. On the plus side, the dodging was superb this time, especially in the later stages. The boss fights look quite good too. (It didn't really bother me how long it took for the ship to recenter after boss fights.) I was alright with the wobbling, since it made me feel like the plane was malfunctioning or that the pilot was getting scared. It was overused, but it wasn't really ugly. In regards to FractalFusion's other comments: - I don't think 2-player would actually make this game a lot better. The two players wouldn't be able to interact very much and would probably have a much easier time killing lots of enemies. Here, with one player, the added challenge makes this more interesting, at least in my opinion. - I think that this run was pretty good in producing "close calls". - The big thing for me is that a game like this needs to have some variety to stay interesting. In Gradius, the music and movement patterns change. In UN Squadron, the choices of weapon usage are fairly complex, and the 100% kills goal keeps things tricky. In R-Type, there are plenty of different weapons shown off. This game doesn't have that level of variety. In short, I think this is a much better run of the game, but the game itself lacks some important features that make an autoscroller TAS interesting. I could go either way about having it published, so I'm voting Meh. Nice work overall, Soig, but you should probably look for a game with more varied action.

Sorry about not getting to watching this yet, especially since I commented a bunch in the previous submission's thread. I plan on watching this tonight (in the US Eastern time zone) and providing more comments. Thank you, FractalFusion, for providing your comments, so I know what to look for.

janus, regarding luck manipulation, I noticed that sometimes the character slows down to a walk. I suppose this is to avoid random encounters, but sometimes you end up in a random encounter at the end anyway. I wonder if the walking was necessary.
I'm no expert on this, but from what I could gather by watching and also reading the submission text, you can't avoid random battles. However, you can space them out. With the slow walking, janus could frequently make it so that no random battle happened in the current room, but a battle happened in the next room. I believe that this ultimately causes there to be fewer battles per room on average. (This would especially be useful if the RNG changes a lot on room transitions.) Not only that, sometimes the party is advanced slightly by the start of a random battle. Notice that when a random battle occurs even after a slow walk, it is frequently triggered around a corner. The rest of the party immediately moves around that corner. I suspect this saves a little walking time. Anyway, that's what I understood from the delays. They looked very carefully planned. Janus, feel free to correct me.

Wow! Very nice job with this run! This game looks really great when TASed, when you barely dodge so many enemies. Rooms 22 and 34 were my favorite (nice timer tricks with Room 34). I think almost anything from Room 22 would make a good screenshot. Granted, I don't really know anything about TASing, so I can't judge this much on a technical level. I think you made the right choice between playing for in-game time or real time. However, I'm curious to see an answer to ktwo's comments before I vote for sure.

Alright, I finally found enough free time to watch this whole thing. Major major thanks to FerretFaucet for the encoding. The video looked very nice with some occasional sprite errors, but I figured that may have been the emulation's fault. Like BOF2, this was interesting to watch even if you didn't know the game, since the plot was just complex enough. The fights also look great when you see the other two characters decimated but the main character still wins in 1 combo. This is great work, and I'm happy to vote Yes. I was also thinking that when Zig starts driving the ship, it seems appropriate to comment "Zig moves... for great justice."

Wow, I'm quite impressed, guys! This is some really nice work with the route planning. I wish I could do more to help, but my only idea (seeing if the goblin kill with the sword could be skipped) didn't pan out.

TaoTao, thanks for the Nico encode! This ended up being pretty fun. There are certain things that don't really seem correct for the game, like why the ball form doesn't roll any faster than it does on downhills, or why the game lags like it does with some large enemies. Outside of that, the game is pleasant and short. I also like how the game does its boss rush. Yes vote. Good to see another run from you, TaoTao!

Um... wow. When the game starts by being punched off a ledge and falling headfirst, you know the game is going to be funny. The first stage was repetitive but still entertaining, and the run was awesome overall. Very nice first run, and welcome to TASVideos!

Very nice! The only thing I didn't like was the damage taken in the Funton fight, since it now meant you had the low-damage chime in the last few fights. However, I commend your efforts in lag reduction, and the snowman boss is still wonderful. Yes vote.

Thank you, Lex, for all the encoding work! I finally got to check out the Dailymotion encode. I must admit, I could hardly follow what was going on. The game is very fast-paced, and it seems over way too quickly. I'm not particularly familiar with this game (I know Yoshi's Island a lot more), but I'd still say this was entertaining. Yes vote.

Hmm, nifty! Of course, with a game like this, people are going to like different things from this. Personally, I liked this one a lot. The piano player didn't sound as random... more like he was just really restless (pun intended). I like that this is more focused than the first submission. It helped me stay amused the whole way through, rather than having to change gears every couple minutes when the game changes. (With the first Brain Age, even though there were a large variety of pictures, it was just one minigame type.) Whether or not this gets published, Ryuto, you've put some great work into this game. I'm sure many people will appreciate the two YouTube videos you've put up. As for this run, I'm voting Yes.

Thank you very much for the encode, Dada! However, it seems like it's missing the last few minutes of gameplay. There are also some small errors with some foreground objects (especially when a Slig blows up or when Abe uses his lightning attack). The game is long, but each part is really great. I'd be happy to vote Yes on this once I can see the entire thing, as opposed to 92% of it. EDIT: Ah, so it was the full movie. Yes vote indeed.

Sorry to bump, but I stumbled upon this movie when going randomly, and I found out during editing that the game's title is published wrong. Technically, the game is E-SWAT: City Under Siege. I left a TODO in the main movie page, since I'm not a Vested Editor. I hope that's alright. In any case, this is the only game in this series for the Megadrive / Genesis, so if someone just wants to delete the TODO, that should probably be ok.

Sorry for not commenting on this way earlier, especially since I was happy to comment on the original run. I didn't want to get a new version of VBA that I wasn't sure I was going to need for any other runs. I didn't end up catching encodes either until recently. In any case, this was a nice little improvement. The third boss fight is also definitely more interesting. Good job!

Thanks for the HD encode, NitroGenesis! That was much easier to watch from a mobile phone. As for the run, it's pretty quirky. The game is just complicated enough route-wise to make things interesting. It's a shame the boss fights are repetitive, but the witch fights were impressive. I'd say this gets a Yes vote. Also, Spanky and Milon should team up. Nobody could out-bubble them!

If one pause is all that's necessary to get a good ending, would it make sense to edit in one pause? Anyway, this game got repetitive for me quite quickly. It certainly looks difficult, but it didn't entertain me very much. I'm reminded of Skitchin, but for some reason I liked that game more. I'm voting Meh, leaning towards No.

You did a nice job with this game! However, I just can't get into this version of the game as much. It moves somewhat slowly compared to all the MK games on this site (except for MKII for the Gameboy), and it's more visually distracting. I found it a lot harder to follow the fighting, even when there weren't glitches. I think you did as well as you could, but I'm voting Meh for game choice.

I found this fairly amusing, though nothing too special. I'm a bit concerned about the optimality of the boosts though. You mention that you used autofire to get the boosting right; did you manage to figure out how many frames of cooldown there are between boosts? Was there a memory address for this? Also, why did you get stuck in the corner in 5-1? It seemed like a speed-entertainment tradeoff to me, because it was sort of funny. At this point, I'd like to hear a little more about the technical aspects of this run before I vote. EDIT: Alright, I'll vote Yes. Thanks for the comments.

This is how I feel too. Upon reading the submission comments, it's incredible how much manipulation went into making this run. Yes vote. Also, Truncated, you've done some really awesome team runs over the last couple years or so. There was Castlevania Bloodlines with VANDAL, Alien Soldier with Dammit, and now there's this run. It's been greatly appreciated!

I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Wonderful! This is really impressive optimization and weapon usage. The last battles were especially great, and Boss 3 was cool too. You also didn't overlap the two characters too often, which would've made it more boring. The way you have it currently, it's like the two characters do their platforming together (I think it's funny to think of them jumping hand-in-hnd), but then they split up when it's time to kick ass. Anyway, clear Yes vote. Also, thanks for the downloadable encode!

Coincidentally, I had just rewatched the old run within the last two days. This was really nice to watch! Stage 17 had some nice damage boosting (I'm fond of the boost off the skeleton just after you destroyed that wall to help you escape from the white key's area). The improvement on the bat boss is really noticeable. Also, the final form of Dracula was a lot more impressive from the front platform, with very smart use of damage. I'm voting Yes, but there's something I noticed that may improve this run. In some stages, you say you needed to budget hearts (such as Stage 12). However, you pass up two heart items just after fighting the Mummies boss, and you also toss holy water in the celebration. If you grabbed those hearts and didn't toss water, wouldn't you be able to use more Holy Water in stage 12?

You've done a nice job with this run, Ryuto. However, I don't personally feel like this mode is particularly suitable for the best runs. I'm going to vote Meh with this, because I could go either way about it being published. The main issues: * Higher "cutscene" density, as someone else mentioned with the joggers * The piano part is pretty funny at first, but the novelty wears off quickly. * Most of the games end too quickly to be able to make any real good playarounds with them. I think you made some really good choices with this one. It's still entertaining, but it makes me go "Oh, I get it, the game is broken" instead of "Wow, the game has been obliterated". That's why I'm going with Meh.
