In Frame 8, I think, an elf's head is ripped off. Somehow, he gets the head back after the ball is thrown. That's pretty amazing. Nice try, but this isn't amusing enough to me for a yes vote. I'm going No.

I showed this to a few of my friends who play NetHack a lot. They thought it was quite impressive, though they felt it was more like "cheating" because auto-pickup was turned on. I don't personally care, and I'm quite impressed with the effort that's needed to die this quickly. Yes vote, and I look forward to an ascension run.

I claimed in the YouTube comments that I would vote Yes for this if it was submitted (I'm ITGSKIZ there). As promised, I vote Yes. This is clever enough that it may actually deserve a playaround publication, even if it's not as impressive as the Tetris playaround.

How about I take the hardest tunes in the last DDR PSX game, set Dark, Stealth and Shuffle modifiers, so I don't even know a damn about where are the arrows, and then still win 100% perfectly?
If you did that for one song, that might be pretty funny! I was actually thinking of modifiers that still make the arrows readable with difficulty, though. For instance, it would be awesome if you had ITG modifiers like Split, Boomerang, Beat, etc.

I love you, Mister Epic, for having done this. I was going to do something like this for last April Fool's, but I never took enough time to learn how to do TASing with PCSX. Also, rhythm games are awesome, but the rhythm games that don't make you tired are for wimps. Props to you, Brandon, if you can AAA all of these on foot. I got close to doing that, but I never really cared to do that well on Afronova Primeval. I'm voting No, though, because a playaround should use the modifiers to make the game harder (like playing on Reverse... it's a shame DDR didn't have many cool modifiers). Well, also because DDR is trivial to TAS. ;-)

Eh, it wouldn't be all that funny as a prank. Nice idea though. DarkKobold: Very nice job with the way you phrased the judgment decision on this. Sirstarmagic: Good luck with your later runs! We have discussion forums here so that you can submit Works In Progress. This way, you obtain feedback before the whole run is done.

Oh, of course! With the shell flute equipped, the game's probably checking, with each sword swing, whether you're trying to call the dolphin. Nice catch.

Quite nice! The glitches for skipping rooms were cool, especially since the setup looks so unintuitive. The amount of puzzles felt about right, especially since some of the ones in Stages 4 and 7 are quite hard. Also, the strategy against Jinbe (boss #8) in Stage 8 looked really good! However, I'm concerned about one thing. Although the warp glitch in Stage 6 saves a lot of time, and it's hilarious, it gets rid of your access to Stage 8, and you have to use the reset glitch after all. That makes it difficult to explain this run's goals properly: it's not "play all rooms", and it's not "avoids major warp glitches". Do we just call this an "all stages" run? It seems like this run falls into a similar category as the Legend Of Zelda swordless run... it avoids using the reset glitch except where necessary to beat the game, like the LoZ run avoids the sword except where necessary to beat the game. Great job Ryuto! You work fast! And you've definitely earned a Yes vote for publication alongside the other run.

NitroGenesis: Thanks! I voted yes. Sirstarmagic: The length of the movie is not a good enough reason on its own to vote. For instance, if Minesweeper took 4 minutes to beat, that would be very slow tool-assisted play. (The published movie for Minesweeper here takes fewer than 30 seconds.) Now, if you mean "I voted yes because 4 minutes and 53 seconds is very fast for this game", then that's better.

Not too bad! The game is pretty short and amusing. I'm still groaning like a zombie at the "High Skull" pun. The ending is also quite funny. The game seems pretty clunky, though. In some spots in Stage 2, it looks like you jump out too far from the optimal path (I think it's a spot where the platform is to your left, and you go fairly far left before jumping to the right again). The boss fighting looks a little suspicious too... you don't fire very much at the Stage 1 boss compared to the others. In Stages 2 and 5, do the bosses take damage even when their mouth is closed? I'd be interested in answers to these questions before voting, but I'll probably vote Yes.

I'd be interested to see what the time difference would actually be with skipping the first stage and fighting the Octopus with the swords. Having a few more hits seems like it would be quicker than going through a whole extra stage (especially since you have to spend more time in the "area selection" place to go between the stages). But in any case, this still deserves a Yes vote.

Well, this was quite surprising. It was a pretty good watch too. The repeated jumping glitch is obviously the major change, which has the extra advantage of making a lot of parts less boring (all the Air stages, for instance, and most of the Fire stages). You had pretty good style choices too with the boring ice boss, though maybe some more Chakan posing would've been fun, like the published run has. I just have one question. In the published movie, the main reason for playing the stage with the Axe was to get the clear potion for High Jump. You no longer need High Jump to get the potions in the stage with the Trident. Would it save time to skip the Axe stage and just fight the octopus boss with the swords?

Wow! Maybe a little time can be saved with this submission, but it's certainly very precise. The new route is quite surprising. It's also quite entertaining... there were some very good style choices made with this run. Out of curiosity, it seems like the glitch to get under the ground in Bowser's Star World is new. Could this kind of glitch save time in the Super Mario World any% run? (I was thinking that maybe Donut Secret 1 could benefit from it.) Yes vote.

Very nice! I'd seen everything except Stage 6 before, and you also handled that really well. Stage 6 has great music :-) Overall, great job with this game! For those who aren't familiar with it, Bhezt Rhy is making this game look quite a bit easier than it is. The game starts fairly simple, but after Stage 2 it starts getting quite hard. Here's some details that may be useful:
  • The bouncing ball things are invincible enemies that change color regularly. One color doesn't harm you, but the other does.
  • After taking damage, you can't swing your hammer until the invulnerability wears off. This is usually very annoying when fighting bosses.
  • Enemy health drops are not random. I believe the only enemy that leaves behind hearts is the orange floating head thing, and it always leaves a heart when killed.
  • When you have >= 10 carrots, you play a bonus game for extra lives, and you keep playing until you have < 10 carrots. (Each game costs 10 carrots.) That's why Bhezt Rhy tries to avoid carrots during the stages.
  • Whenever you fight Tweety, he keeps trying to retreat into hiding, where he can't be harmed. Bhezt Rhy does a great job at hitting him frequently so that he doesn't get to hide again.
  • At the boss of Stage 5-4, the big bird can't be hurt. You have to defeat the little bird to win the fight.
  • The final boss in 6-4 can only be damaged by hitting his footballs back at him. (They also look like pies, though...)
I'm quite happy to vote Yes. North Bus: I think sliding on an enemy is the same speed as walking, or slightly slower. Bhezt Rhy should comment on this, though.

With NES games, it's usually easier for people to find the ROM and run the emulator. I would have an encode ahead of time with newer systems, where the ROMs take up significantly more space and the emulators are more computationally-intensive. Anyway, thanks!

This game is pretty amusing. This is what I learned from it, particularly from the credits of each dungeon: * Beware shiny stones. * Deep dungeons can be found underneath standard townhouses, or below mansions that spring out from the ground. Maybe it's like how Dracula's Castle keeps reappearing in all the Castlevania games. * Explosions create cool words in the sky. * Raccoons are crappy at avoiding falling words (and giant birds). Unfortunately, the high amount of cutscenes is fairly annoying, especially since I don't know Japanese. It takes 5 minutes before a dungeon is even entered! The frequent dialog stops with the hooded guy are annoying. However, the action parts are quite cool. You can see clearly how many monsters are being dodged as the Chcocobo runs to the next floors. The character levels up without having to veer far off the main path. The item work is quite impressive, especially in the second boss fight. In the end, since the action parts are pretty interesting to follow, and this is a skilled run, I'm voting Yes. If there would be a way to get subtitles with this movie, though, that would make it way better.

The voice problems are unfortunate. However, the TAS is pretty cool. It reminds me of Tomba!, with its art style and sense of humor. The run has good pacing, and I like how the player's abilities become stronger as the run goes on, keeping things fresh. It was also nice to end with a glitched-out level. This was a lot of fun, and I vote Yes. I would love to see if an encode could be made with better voices, though.

Nifty! I watched both Youtube links, and I agree that Easy mode is the better choice. You don't get any more entertainment from seeing more puzzles solved in Normal mode. There's an unfortunate tradeoff here, though. Although the stylus makes the puzzles quick to solve, it also means that you can't really see individual moves in progress. In a game with a moving cursor, you'd at least see the movement of the cursor and be able to follow along with the moves (such as in the Solitaire run). Even in Pipe Dream and Minesweeper, you can still follow along somewhat, but not with this run. I think one question is appropriate here: what was the challenge in making this run? Presumably, if the stylus can select pieces each frame, and the puzzles have a fixed number of pieces, then this run is already optimal.

How about X2P TAS?
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. This game sounds pretty nice. I'm looking forward to an encode, if possible. Flygon, Wikipedia says that the video game was based off an animated series in the late '80s, not off the TV show in the '70s. However, either way you slice it, Monkey Magic seems pretty hilariously silly.

WOW! Seriously, as someone who knows this game, I can say this is incredible. The published movie was quite fast, certainly, but most of its surprise was the reset glitch. This time, the gameplay is really clever. Nice job finding the timesaver when you dig up new holes especially; that's the kind of thing that makes me feel dumb for not thinking of it. The strategies for bosses 2, 4, and 7 are really impressive. Seriously, you looked like luck pretty much went perfectly for you with boss 7 in particular. Nice job also with the improvements on boss 3 and 6; I'm surprised you only took damage once on boss 6. All this adds up to a Yes vote, and more. Great job! Count me in for wanting a full run of the game without the reset glitch (though I don't really care if it's 100% or not).

Thanks for the YouTube, Ryuto! This was a pretty interesting watch. It makes me think of Nibbler (or whatever name you know for the game with the growing snake that eats pellets) or of Snake Rattle 'n Roll. The boss fights were especially cool. Yes vote.
