I can't get this movie to sync past the title screen in Gens v11a. (I know you used v11b, but I was hoping the versions were close enough to still work.) I'd be curious to see if anyone else got v11a to work... I don't like to keep too many versions of emulators around if possible. I watched the YouTube encoding of the old run, and that looks pretty good though. If it's faster than all previous records, I'd say it deserves a Yes vote. Are the previous times Nitsuja's or yours?

Out of the 4 new fights, I like Don Flamenco I and Super Macho Man. Those show off new strategies while still looking silly, like Mac is toying with them more. However, the other two fights, involving all the knockdowns, feel sloppy. I know those fights are deliberately set up that way, and adelikat, you definitely get credit for working out those strategies, but it doesn't come off as impressive. I feel like this particular glitch is well-known enough, though, that Punch-Out enthusiasts would benefit from seeing a clockstop run on the main site. I would vote Meh because of this, but so many of the fights are also quite similar to the published run, which leads me towards No. I don't think I'm voting in this one.

Agreed. However, this movie was funny in a different way. With the sliding trick, it's like you're start out so amazingly eager to punch the lights out of the green-haired guy! But then you get closer, and you're moving slower, like you're doubting yourself. In any case, this is pretty amusing for its length. Nice improvement, and Yes vote.

Thanks for the encode, p4wn3r! The first time the first stage was played, I had no clue what was happening. The second time, I could finally piece together some of what the symbols meant on the game places. (Thank you for the game description, Sparky, but I still needed some time to see where the things you described were located on the game board.) After that, once you have the Ogre, it became quite amusing to see the enemies stuck on the same places, racking up CP for you. It was even better when multiple enemies got stuck on the same traps. However, this run is still really repetitive, even if you know the game. Although the game is sort of like Monopoly, it's not as entertaining for a couple reasons. One: it's a lot longer. Two: the Monopoly runs are primarily impressive because of how early the input stops. I feel like this could have a place on the site, though, especially for the Japanese audience. I'm voting Meh. If subtitles are included to explain some of the gimmicks, this movie might be viewed more favorably. P.S. That hamster in the ending cutscene is ridiculously cute.

Watching the first game, the gimmick is amusing but gets old fast. A lot of time is spent in forced speech instead of actual gameplay. The rest of the games aren't much more interesting than that. Sorry, but this is a poor game choice for a TAS. The luck manipulation just doesn't make it interesting enough. I'd love to see a run that proves me wrong, but it would be quite difficult considering the limited gameplay options.

I like that this game is a bit more complex than your average run-right-for-justice platformer. However, the tradeoff is that the fixed-time bonus games aren't particularly interesting. Props to dancing to the music, though. In the end, the glitchy and fast use of powerups makes this movie worth watching. Yes vote.

Very nice! It's quite satisfying to see the Green Banana bonuses manipulated to end so quickly. I never really liked the amount of fetch-questing the game makes you do at the very end, but that's only a minor blemish. Great job!

I finally got around to watching this. I like the run's concept, though I can't really decide whether this is a good category to have around. I'd say yes, especially since some people complained with the max% small-only run that it was too long and got old after a few amazing stages. This run will still surprise people and be a manageable length, and it also shows off small Mario going through the front door (I don't think the max% run uses that entrance to Bowser's Castle). I'll vote Meh because of the possible improvements. However, I would be in favor of having warps and warpless versions of this game in both small and all-powers varieties.

Nice, I'm glad to see an improvement of this got finished. It's hard to tell most of the specific improvements, though. Could you put in some more explanation, such as why you fire the flame sword from so far away and how much damage you do running into enemies with your body? That would help clarify what this movie's doing and make it more enjoyable. Regardless, good job with improving this clunky but oddly-entertaining game.

This was some pretty cool laser action, with giant robot MJs thrown in for good measure. The dancing also is pretty violent. Nice going. Any interest in working on the current Genesis run we have? At first, I thought this run was going to be an improvement of that.

The description is incorrect. This is an any% run, not 100%. (The current "small only" run is 100%.) I think I agree with Mothrayas about whether the run serves a purpose, but I'll edit in more comments once I've actually watched it. I'm glad, though, to see other people who know how to submit technically-strong SMW runs.

Last time this game came on the queue, people were concerned that the run didn't look like it was superhuman playing. In other words, it looked like a real-time speedrun could do just about as well. The out-of-bounds glitch in this run changes that some, but the game is still pretty simple with this ending. I think this is good enough for publication, though. It's funny how on Day 2, the kid says he should explore the island, but then he goes right back to sleep. Some of my days have been like that...

Notice how, during the several days this has been sitting here in this queue, that Soig has not posted a single comment in response to these substantive inquiries. There seems to be a flood of these wannabe TASers who are willing submit but not to actually do the grueling work of getting feedback and constructing a solid TAS.
It may be more likely because many of these TASers are not native English speakers. It can be intimidating to answer these questions when there are a lot of them, especially if you just use a translator. Maybe writing a long post in this thread wasn't the best idea, with that factor in mind... oh well. Hopefully, more comments help somebody know what we're looking for in a quality TAS.

Ok, finally done. That was really long, but it was also good. I had a harder time following this than BOF2, for some reason... I certainly don't have any real idea what's going on with the time distortion segment of the game. The "mad" gimmick, with bosses having more health after their main health bar goes, also made this difficult to follow. However, it's clear that the fighting is manipulated really well. Apart from very repetitive-looking fights in the end and some other places, this looked quite impressive. Yes vote. What in the world was Chun Li actually doing in the game, anyway?

Wow. The use of the tornado bracelet to get your 6th levelup was awesome, and I loved the soldier fighting for your 7th level. When you are forced to level up, it's great that the fighting is that daring and classy. Keep it up!

Ok, I'm watching this now. Here are some comments. Sorry for this being a long post. At the beginning: * You move past the plane you eventually pick. Why? First stage: * Lots of missed shots with the regular weapon. It doesn't seem to lose time or create lag, but it looks bad. * First boss looks alright. You look like you're using turbo fire though. Does the first shot land as soon as the boss is vulnerable? Second stage: * Waiting times are fairly boring. When there's nothing to shoot, there could be better dancing. * Nice little bullet dodging after the midboss. However, you seem fairly inconsistent about which planes live, which doesn't look good. * Good bossfight. Third stage: * Autofire with the regular weapon looks sloppy. * If you can, you should get a different weapon for most of the stage, to show some extra variety. You can always release that weapon for the boss fight. * Boss fight seemed ok, but not as good as the previous ones. Fourth stage: Nothing special to mention here. Fifth stage: * Whoa, what was that special attack which shot the ring of fire? That was cool but short-lived. * In some areas, this seems like it could be more impressive. Although you dodge bullets, it looks like you could dodge them closer and make it look more dangerous. * I have the same concerns about this boss fight as the first: autofire. Also, if S is more powerful, why do you use the fire ring so early in the fight? It looks like you should use it as the last attack, not one of the first. Sixth stage: * Ok, now you start dancing a little. * You took damage once to beat that last boss more quickly. Why didn't do you do this before with the third boss? In conclusion, this seems like an ok run. However, the game is a pretty bland autoscroller, with very little variety. This makes the game poorly suited for speedrunning. The play looks sloppy at points, like it's just a regular player with a turbo button. To make a bland game like this interesting, the player should really shoot very precisely, move in and out of bullets smoothly, and other things like that. I vote No, mostly because of the game choice.

Pretty nice. The improvements are clear, and the damage-taking made this more interesting. Yes vote. By the way, the submission text should say you skipped 3-2 and 3-3, right? It currently says 4-2 and 4-3.

Hmm... it looks like Mister Epic's run here has a speed/entertainment tradeoff then. I think I prefer the amount of riching going on in this run. But seriously, to ask the question everyone's had, what in the world is this? And actually, how do runs of this look unassisted? (After all, this needs to beat unassisted records...)

Now that I've finally watched the updated movie, this seems like a pretty nice choice of game. It has pretty good platforming and is short. I think that a good optimized version of this game could certainly get published. Using the key at 3-2 was definitely cool. That being said, this run does look improvable. I think this is a fairly good attempt, but more testing should be done to see whether it's worth killing a few more enemies to reduce lag. I'll vote Meh, since I'm ok if this gets published, but it would be nice to see some competition to improve the times of this movie too.

I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. TimmyAkmed, there are ways to update a submission's file without creating a new submission. You should send a message (using the Private Message option in the forums) to one of the judges, I think. They should be able to update the file for you. For instance, you can send a message to Truncated, since he already commented on this thread and thus has already spent time watching the run. Truncated, if I'm wrong about this, I'm sorry, and you can post here correcting me.

Wow! And I thought the Forte run was broken before... this is even more crazy. I just have a few questions: 1) Why does the boss skip only work for Tengu Man that one time? You don't even do that trick in the refight. 2) Could you do the two quick hits on Perfect King like FractalFusion did in his Forte run? 3) Why don't you get in the ceiling after the Ground Man fight? This is still amazing work, though, which absolutely earns a Yes vote. I would also be in favor of publishing this alongside the Forte run, rather than obsoleting it, because the two runs have pretty different playstyles when they're not glitching everywhere.

Welcome, Soig, to TASVideos! Before submitting a movie, however, you should probably search the site's older movies too. Genisto played a 1-player run which was about 36 seconds faster than this run. This was played on the US version of the game, but I don't think that makes a difference. Also, Hongbaichaoren did a faster single-player run. I haven't watched the full run, but in the first few stages, there were some fairly unoptimized parts. In stage 1, it looks like you shoot a lot of extra shots once you have the flame shot, and that creates lag. Also, you grab the S weapon, which makes bosses have more health. In stage 2, there should be faster ways to position yourself to destroy the two tanks. Basically, this is ok, but this could be a lot better, as the low number of rerecords shows. I won't vote since I haven't watched the full movie, but based on this, my vote would be a No. However, I encourage you to try again and see what you can improve, once you research previous movies and optimize more. EDIT: I found the run by hongbaichaoren, once I spelled his name correctly.
