Thanks, p4wn3r, for the temporary encode! Comparing this run to the published run, although this run is faster, I gotta say I like the published run more entertainment-wise. In this run, the first fight against Commander Yammark doesn't have that ridiculously fast SDC. It's annoying to see Infinity Mijinion played twice in a row (even though Illumina is cool). And in this run, it seems that X takes a lot more damage fighting High Max for the second time, which makes the dodging less impressive. However, there were some other nice touches to this run, like the refights against Heatnix and Scaravich. Also, I like the menu-switching to the music in an autoscroller of Gate 1. Yes vote.

Thanks for the responses. I did like the butt-shooting. The info about charged shots was useful too. I'd say that given the solid technical play and the amusing plot, this is good enough for a Yes vote.

Thanks for the encodes! I don't know what to vote on this game yet, though. There's a lot of autoscrollers without a whole bunch of gameplay variety in them (the asteroid dodging is a notable exception). The burn shot thing is cool, though it keeps looking like it should be more controllable than it is. It does make the non-autoscrolling parts pretty cool. I'm a little concerned about the boss fighting too. In a number of the fights, you keep waiting to charge shots and fire them, even when the boss has little health left. For instance, I think there was some boss near the end of the first video where you charged a shot to take off two bars rather than firing a few simple shots. There are some boss fights where you just use those super charged attacks, whatever they are, over and over. It may be the fastest way, but it doesn't really look good. I was sort of hoping there'd be more in-your-face fighting like there is with the other Shubibinman game. In short, this is a decent game, but the scrolling parts and boss fights make me unsure of what to vote right now. Some more comments on the bosses would probably be useful.

Now that the submission has more comments, I can appreciate more why you switched forms often early in the game. This was quite a fun watch, and it has good variety as you get more and more powers (in some sense, it was more boring once you had ZX since the fights got more predictable).

Wow, that's a lot of skipped stages. The highlights are definitely the skipped autoscrollers and the boss fights. Yes vote!

Wow. Just wow. I mean, we've seen some other massively glitched games, including previous runs of this game, but this is pretty spectacular. Unfortunately, this does cut out some of the more amusing moments of the last run (like the sound bugging up in Wily 2), but it's totally worth it. I'd still say that it's more fun to watch the Rockman 2 glitching, but this is a great watch. Great job with an unimaginable improvement. It's ridiculous how TASVideos can still surprise us with new levels of brokenness.

Quite nice! Great job on the encoding, Mister Epic. And ElectroSpecter, you always end up running some really cool games, so even though we don't see you on the submission queue often, it's always a treat when we do. Thank you!

This ended up being fairly amusing. The hero gets some fairly cool attack powers. The speed is good. The vertical segments are more interesting to watch. The Engrish is pretty funny. And the main character always has this confused look on his face. All this amounts to a Yes vote. Good job! Just one question, though. At the end of Stage 5 (I think), just before the boss, you bounce off of a blue wizard to get over a pillar. It takes a little while for the wizard to get there. Wouldn't it be faster to shoot out the dirt in the wall to your left and hop up there first?

Yeah, my apologies for not chipping in sooner, but I'm also excited for this run. tmont's run on this essentially made me register an account just to chime in for it a year and change ago. This run consistently surprises me in terms of its leveling strategies and all, so great work so far!

Very nice job, guys! As has been mentioned, it was awesome to see the candle put to good use in Dungeon 2, and the inventory management was spot on. Having exactly enough rupees to fire your arrows was pretty cool. I wouldn't really want to see a 100% run, though. There's just too many items that don't end up being useful, like the Book and the Red Candle. Also, the goals for a 100% run are a bit unclear: would you have to get the Medicine? The blue and red rings?

Thanks for the encodes! This ended up being really fun. The pace is great, and there's always a sense of danger with the hordes of enemies and the health management. I wish there was slightly more active combat, but then again most of the combat in these DOS platformers becomes simple when you can autofire (see the last boss of Duke Nukem, for instance). Yes vote.

Although this was fairly linear, this ended up being quite an enjoyable run. The sliding and high-jump glitches made it more interesting too. Nice job!

Thanks again for the encode, Flygon! This game basically plays like Kung Fu but over twice as long and with more awkward boss fights. The two-twin fight was cool, but I wasn't crazy about the rest. You may have done the best you could with it, but the game is working against you here. I'm voting Meh.

Ooooh... I believe I've suggested Legend of Toki before. Diman made a really good improvement run that he canceled, so that run could offer some good ideas.

Out of all the options posted here, I like Lord Tom's idea the best. This game can use a playaround, and this is a solid playaround which adheres to a well-defined goal. I approve of publishing this as a concept demo, with the idea that another playaround could obsolete it. I'm voting Yes. However, I'm not sure this is the fastest way to beat the game with 500 points. What if you rush ahead, die, and respawn with less time on the clock? This would make the movie less entertaining, but it would pass time more quickly, and you do get enough extra lives to make this possible.

Flygon: It's very possible that people don't talk much on IRC when English is not their native language. When making forum posts, people have time to use translators and such, but it's harder to do appropriate translation in realtime. Anyway, on the subject of this run, thanks guys for the encode. Nice job! I'm not really familiar with how these glitches work, but I can appreciate the puzzle it must be to glitch to the end quickest. Also, walking through the Hall of Fame is sorta funny, even though it looks less glitched than a black screen with dialogue. Yes vote.

I think the goals of this movie have been well-enough explained in the discussion here. If anything, there shouldn't be any hurry for rejection for technical reasons concerning savestates, as p4wn3r said. I liked this run. This really is a standalone track, it seems, so it's more understandable to run that track alone. It probably also shows off the best of the game. I find it entertaining enough to vote Yes on it for publication as a concept demo, provided people find some way to cater to the rules that makes everyone happy.

I would prefer to see a good ending run to this one. The game is already quite short where the extra length makes fairly little difference. But yeah, let's leave this up for now so we can have both runs on the queue (sort of like what happened with Kaze Kiri's two runs). As another comparison, the bad-ending run of Metal Max was rejected for not having enough interesting content to warrant separate publication. I would say that's not the case for this run, which does have significant content. I'd still prefer to see a best-ending run though.

This looks like a pretty tough game to get right, but the efforts look nice. I sort of liked the tent games from the last run, though. Oh well, you have to go with the faster options. Nice work! As for the ending, I'm not sure if I prefer this end or the end from the last run. Both options are really repetitive, but I think going for "Bools-eye!" (misspelling deliberate) is funnier.

I didn't think this game would have that much potential. This proved me wrong. There was fairly good playaround with the two players in the breaks (I sort of liked seeing the bonus game come up but never get finished), and the technical quality was definitely there.

I'm also pretty surprised that Metroid and pinball worked well at all together. The end result was quite entertaining and looked very difficult. Nice job, dwangoAC! Perhaps, if published, the movie text could mention that the creator of the Metroid Prime series was inspired by Mario Pinball Land and link to our movie of it. EDIT: Thank you for the encode, Flygon! It looks great.

I am quite amused by the glitch. It is a shame that the fights have less variety now. However, as mmbossman said, I don't really feel like there was a whole lot of variety in the original movie either though. Sure, there were combos in that movie, but for the most part it looked like everyone was beaten the same way there. This particular run has its own entertainment too, as well. I think it's pretty funny to see someone stuck on an elbow losing their health rapidly. It's awesome how you essentially teabag your twin for the last two hits of each of those rounds. The two chainman fight is still quite well done. The after-fight entertainment poses are generally as good or better than the published run. Hence, I'm voting Yes. I'd also be curious to see what a 2p playaround could do with this game, especially if the two players can hit each other.

This ended up being pretty nice! Even the autoscroller parts are reasonably interesting, since you can level up your shots. The last boss fight was also pretty impressive. Overall, the run looks well-played too. I think I saw a missed shot in one of the levels of World 2, but that's not much of an issue. It seems sometimes like you're taking damage and flipping at the same time, but the flipping animation is still slow (as opposed to the faster flip that saves 27 frames that you mention in the submission text). There may not be much that can be done about that. Good enough for a Yes vote. Yay for a Halloween-themed run too.

(http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. The second-round glitch is pretty nice, but it's overused. Because you have to become Cyrax for this glitch, and you need to set up the net and grenade, you make the round endings repetitive. Also, you get fewer chances to demonstrate cool combos and fighting styles of other characters. The last match was also pretty disappointing. I'm voting Meh on this. I think it's nice but could be done better with more careful planning of entertainment. Also, this game version seems particularly awful for a GB version of an MK game, as was already pointed out.

I tried this game out once, and it was actually fairly hard, and I didn't even make it to most of these later levels. I certainly didn't know you could get as many sun tiles as you could. Some of the later stages are more impressive given how challenging they are. However, I think this run could be significantly better. First of all, this really should be a 2-player run. (It's harder to make a 2-player run, certainly, but it should be a lot quicker and more entertaining.) Second, the game is quite repetitive. Third, it seems fairly well-played, but it doesn't feel precise; it seems like you often move a half-tile too much to try getting rid of enemies, or you wait too long before hitting a sun tile. (You did use a low number of rerecords.) All in all, I'm going to have to go with a No vote. Good try, but given how repetitive the game is, it really needs to be played with 2 players to have a chance at being entertaining enough. Oh, and the movie file is much longer than it needs to be. Since you don't hit any buttons during the credits, the input file should just be stopped when you beat the final boss. That would make the movie something like 2 minutes shorter.

Wow, this is what Hydlide should have been. Better music, shorter game, and sillier action (yay for pixelated grenades and machineguns). The movement seems unnecessarily jerky, but I figure that's mostly the game's fault. In any case, this was short and sweet. Yes vote, and I would also be interested in a good ending run.
