I dislike any type of 'normal' segmented run. It is like using a 'limited' set of save states. What is the difference in using only using 10 save states, or 10,000 save states? If the failed saves counted towards total time, it'd be different...
Interesting points. I'm now not sure where I stand on the issue of segmented runs. Thanks for confusing me.

This is my first TAS. I made a few screw-ups on the overworld movements. Sorry about that.
This is not good. If the overworld isn't even optimized, I can't expect the rest of the run to be any better. If you know you messed up, why didn't you go back and fix it? There are rerecords available for you to use for a reason. Also, this
Level 1: I run to the right at the start to show what's at that part of the level. Then I run back to the beginning and take the pipe to the rest of the stage.
has no place in a TAS. This isn't a site to publish let's play movies.

When isn't entertainment subjective?
Indescribable amounts of circular reasoning right there...
Actually there isn't. With "it lacks entertainment" I meant "this cannot entertain anyone", or a bit less drastically "this wouldn't entertain the vast majority of people". Provably many people find it entertaining. Thus you can't say it "lacks entertainment". Even if *you* don't find it entertaining that doesn't mean nobody does. Entertainment is subjective, after all.
With this fun reasoning and semantics, I've decided to say that every single submission that has received at least one yes vote ("Yes, I found this movie entertaining) cannot be labeled as "lacks entertainment". *sigh* I know of many movies that have been rejected for lacking entertainment, while still receiving yes votes though. I think I shall call this the Warp paradox, and pray a black hole is not formed when it is mentioned.

If this improvement (which had gone unnoticed by me) does not do the "walks under the floor" glitch, I definitely say that the previous version should be published. It is such a big wtf factor that it's worthy of being slightly slower. Not to mention, it provides a great screen shot opportunity.

I think forum would be just fine, unless a sudden explosion of Gods competition starts up.

I have neither the programming skills, nor the patience to wait out a BisqBot run of this, but it would certainly be a very viable option for an improved version. I would personally be honored to be obsoleted by a robot :)

Like I said, if there had been 14 well thought out submissions that at least tried to be humorous, it would have been great. Having 5 or 6 decent efforts and 10 "Imma go see how fast I can die or not do anything and call a game over screen winning LULZ!" runs was annoying. And I colored I dinosaur while writing this:)

Here's a couple, let me know if there are any specific boss HP or whatever you need, I didn't seem to have any problems finding these. All three are 1byte, signed.

This is a simply stunning improvement, and the glitches you demonstrated were ridiculous. Management of everything was very clearly planned well, and it was very entertaining. Awesome job klmz!

No. I'm saying it should be possible for a movie page to have a whole pageful of information about the movie instead of a small slot in a table.
Would this "whole pageful" of information be generated new for each movie? If you're not thinking about using the author's submission notes, it seems so, as many of the current publications have very little in terms of substance for their movie text. If all this new information has to be user generated, I don't see it being feasible. When movies still don't have screenshots three months after they've been published, I imagine that a lot of very popular games would get great discriptions. After that, I don't think too many people will want to spend a lot of time researching the not so popular games, and then the project would die quickly, leading to 10% of the publications looking great and the other 90% having to fall back on the old system.

I'm astounded that people actually get into long philosophical arguments as an April fools joke. I must run in the wrong circles. And for me, the worst part of the day was the last 3 hours, with the shitstorm of horrible crap that landed in the submission queue. If you're going to try and do something funny, put some thought and work into it. Just being stupid isn't funny. It just reconfirms the rest of the world's assumption that you really are stupid.

I watched it last night and found it pretty dull. Not to mention, you ended up with 104 points, and the game just keeps running after you're done. Would it continue to go on forever if kept saving the Toad?

I found it somewhat amusing, but was also stymied by the stoppage at halftime. If it had a timer to automatically start the second half, I probably would have voted yes too, although I would be surprised if this was the absolute fastest it can be done.

Amen. I think to illustrate this point, I'll make a TAS for each Sonic game, and kill him as early as possible in each one. Just for the hell of it.

You'd have to go back an additional 2 years to actually get to when the current run was published.

You got 4 new and unique April fools day runs, and since this improvement was submitted on one of the other 364 days of the year, it shouldn't be a big deal now.

No, that is the sin of spin.
You seem to be rather adept at that yourself.

Which this movie does.

Votes aren't important, reasons stated in the thread are.
And you have yet to state a reason that this should be rejected, other than it was originally meant to be an April Fools submission. The original has been made faster, with a couple unique solutions to problems. It makes no sense that it shouldn't be published. And with that, you can continue to spin all you want, I'm done arguing.

Especially with a sig like "ISOPWNDURBUTTSOMANYTIMESIAMTIREDBUTIKEEPONPWNING!" Texas schools have apparently outlawed spaces as unAmerican and affiliated with Bin Laden.

Pros: - It doesn't look like 1998 anymore. - It shows a lot of promise (ie it's also lacking a lot of usability right now) - Proper identification of the players in team movies. - "Played by, published by" is a nice idea, as is the direct link to the comments for each movie. Cons: -Audio takes a long time to load. - Screenshots are basically worthless, as they are incredibly small and only show up on the specific movie page. If the "ratings" box were either moved to the right, or replaced by a screenshot, I think it would look a lot better (rather similar to the old layout). - Rerecords? Since this is TASvideos, it might be nice to show that they are actually tool assisted. In general the movie submission pages are lacking a ton of helpful information that was present in the old design. - Console pages currently list movies by date published, which is incredibly annoying. Alphabetical listings are much preferred. - Something needs to be done about the concept demos/hacks, other than just orphaning them. - New submissions don't get numbers, which is kinda odd, and it's impossible to tell how old a submission is at a quick glance (ie sub 239 is much much older than sub 1479) - Please get rid of the tags of "Nintendo Entertainment System", "Super Nintendo Entertainment System", etc in the submissions queue (or upcoming, whichever it ends up being). Acronyms were invented for a reason, and when the main page uses those acronyms for the links, I can't think of a reason why they would be included in the submission name. - The google ads are much more intrusive than before. Now they take up roughly 20% of the screen at times. I'm sure I'll think of more as time goes on and I explore more, but as it works right now, I think it's rather slow, harder to find information as quickly as possible, and hinders usability. However I think that it could be built into a very nice looking system with the appropriate tweaks.

I swear, if you really take this whole thing as super serious, you should take a step back and reexamine your life. The purpose of this site is (or claims to be) to produce entertaining movies. If a "joke" submission created more entertainment for the viewers than the author intended, does that make it any less of a movie than one of your "serious" submissions? People were entertained by the first movie, and taking a look at the 13-1-1 vote as it stands, it seems people still find it entertaining. So, once again, I ask: If people find this entertaining, what's the big deal about what day it's submitted on?

It's an improvement to a published movie. What is there to bitch about?
The previous movie was never meant to be a serious submission. Since Today is more about submitting an unexpected movie. This movie fails to meet that aspect.
It was unexpected 2 years ago, but has since become more than just a joke submission. If only unexpected movies are to be submitted on April 1st, should Cardboard not have submitted his CotM run? Or did you mean that only unique, never-before-seen runs should be submitted on april 1? I just really fail to see what point you're trying to make in defense of saying this movie isn't necessary.

Indescribable amounts of circular reasoning right there... You first say that people can't say it lacks entertainment, "because that's certainly not true", then go on to say that entertainment can't be anything but subjective... actually, that's not really circular reasoning, a better word would be hypocritical.
