Well, it might be because the last person to take that route through the room was JXQ with his 100%v2, after that no-one tried to do anything different there. Cause if you, say, were going for skipping both Spazer and the refill as I'm going to do in my low%, you'd do it somehow like this.

Ah, sorry, I forgot that you did it at full speed. Leaves even less room for improvement then, heh.

No, not something as interesting as that, because I won't be getting Spazer in any run I'm working on. :D

True that. And I also have some ideas I would like to test there. Who knows, maybe something interesting will arise.

In addition to that, there is a dozen of different wiki engines (TASVideos's is close to TWiki, IIRC), each with different functionality, purposes and syntax.

It had the potential to be 7 frames faster (thankfully, it looks noticeably better in any case, which was the main motivator for me to implement it). So far hero, evilchen and I have been bruteforcing it, and hero came closest with 298 ingame frames spent in the room, compared to Cpadolf's 299. On the other hand, there is some further subpixel optimisation to take care of in his version, as well as using faster speed (2.0, hero did it on 1.61xxx). All in all it may amount to another 1-3 frames being saved in theory. Optimization by itself isn't as tedious as just making it work, because an offset as big as ~2048 subpixels can throw you off, not completely dissimilar to the Torizo skip, except in this case you fight for a couple frames + better looks, instead of 18+ seconds a timesaver. So basically I'm still trying to improve it further. Once we're past it, the progress will skyrocket.

Hero and I tried that some time ago, basically it would've been a timesaver if it was possible to both get over the entire platform, and be able to land upon the head block after clearing it. Even if one of them was possible, the other wasn't.

what do you mean by that?
For instance, the fact that you're not helping anything at all when you're going on flaming Saturn. We've already finished that a couple days ago, and the fun stuff was cut out and put into a separate thread, as was supposed to. If you really want to hurt a man's pride that bad, just ignore him. Otherwise you're increasing the amount of redundant/useless/foul content in this thread, and it has seen a lot of it already. Much more than needed.

That, I believe, is the only sane way to deal with this thread. :)

So uhh, does that mean you'll continue working on it and submit, or does it mean something else? :)

That only depends on how much you're willing to suffer to have something done, instead of not suffering but just having nothing done. We have a somewhat similar situation arising at the moment with upcoming DS emulation, and I don't feel like going the mupen way. It's a pain in the ass even to watch something this way, let alone record.

The glitch itself isn't completely new, it was brought up about 8 months ago here, also explaining how it works. As for the run, I'd vote yes on it, but it looks very improvable. Particularly the overhead stages and the second overhead stage's boss. I suggest redoing it (3.5 minutes won't take you much time) and resubmitting.

Nuh-uh, this is a brand new WIP, made within the last month or two at most.

Nice to hear that; I'm keeping it on my to-check list because it can help in not skipping pumps on the four slopes in the mainstreet before jumping down the Torizo turf in preparation for the moozooh jump. How many pumps did you skip with a position of 0? IIRC, to save a frame, you can't skip pumping for more than two frames overall. Also, in regards to your earlier question about my frame counts, I can't answer you right now, but if you're in a hurry, you can check the first low% test WIP and see the ingame frame value during the blackout before the gunship lands.

Probably due to new beta having different sound setting (same as 1.51 for the most part), while the previous didn't, IIRC. Saturn, GREAT old Tourian escape shaft strategy. I need to put more thinking into segments like that when I'll do the final version of low%. Also, while you did gain 17 frames on me in OTES alone (having an overall improvement of 30 frames, 20 of which were new to me), you managed to lose 18 (?!) by the moment your smv stopped. I see you have used the same strategy for pre-Torizo room catnap did in his old RBO WIP; I've tested this strategy during the production of NBMB WIP, and the one I used in it has proven to be much faster (16 of those 18 frames were lost on it).

It's not that sigs itself aren't allowed, it's distracting images and animations are. Such as your current avatar, unfortunately. :) By the way, I still have yet to praise Taco and Kriole for Ceres improvements. Taco is insane, working on it all with such amazing perseverance, this is far more than what one would expect from any TASer. I bet the experience he gained from it all was immeasurable and fully enough to surpass the results of all the other players involved in TASing SM. Also, nice to know that some of the ideas I've thrown out earlier in the thread have been used. I guess I'm not completely hopeless. :) I'm eagerly awaiting Taco's progress on Zebes. I wonder just how many frames will he be able to save compared to my already severely outdated low% test run WIPs. On that note, I'm getting sick of wasting so much time on nothing. :| I promise to return to TASing this week.

1. Just leave the ROM zipped in the "ROMS" folder. 2. You need BIOS files to play certain games. Those can usually be taken at the same place as ROMs themselves.

How can you badmouth Saturn so much? He's shown every one of his tricks after they got spoiled by other people, only so that I could rip him off and use them in my runs!

Hmm, I was pretty sure I tested this strategy before, and it was same fast! Congrats PJ, this is definitely the limit now. You have abused it to the fullest! But you have to agree, my "legendary" movie was absolutely perfect if you don't count these weird optimizations people are talking about (wtf people).

That's because I don't need these fancy turbo things to make a perfect movie.

The rerecord count got broken after I cut the Ceres bit from the sub-30 minutes any% run I have here since 1997. Just wanted to clear up the confusion, that's all.

Hey guys, just dropped to tell you I just made a perfect Ceres. Note that I made it in just five minutes! And I swear to god, it's abso-fucking-lutely perfect!
