You mean, Underground Cemetery? :) You're going very good, already 1:06 ahead of Atma, and you have a little less than half the game left. Hmm, I wonder, will you be able to get over two minutes of advantage?

Plain (W) [!] works fine (not sure which revision that is, though).

Never seen Super Knuckles in action in this game. The last levels looked especially cool (the bonus levels sucked a bit, though), so please continue. :)

the game is just more interesting
The game may be more interesting, but there is a significant difference between the game and the run. Even if the game is different, the run looks nearly the same.

An improvement that big in that ridiculously small amount of time? Dude, you are magical. :D And your current rank really is well deserved, congratulations. This run is rather short and very entertaining, the waiting sequences are even interesting to watch, the technical side is top notch. As good as a star run can get. Yes vote without any hesitating. P.S. On a somewhat related note… What do you think about improving Sonic 3 to beat the crap out of every main Sonic title once and for all? ;D

Because his run has less boring moments and idle time in general? The question is: if both runs are nearly the same for pretty much the entire play time, should we need two of them? If not, which one should we keep, bearing in mind that both runs are greatly optimized? As you may see, the general opinion on the second question is "leave the one that is faster/less boring". In conclusion, I'd like to inoffensively point out that if you just don't want your efforts go in vain that badly, just do an improvement over JXQ's run with your present knowledge, make no stylistic mistakes pointed out by some respondents above, and no-one would have anything bad to say about it. It's up to you to make such a decision.

Well, MK II desynched too, but it was fixed by checking an appropriate option. Has anyone tried something like that with Doom?

Why does my run keep getting directly compared to JXQ's run?
Well, that's pretty simple: because they are almost indiscernable for about 90% of the playing time (with 9.9% of the rest being the bonus levels).

Important question. I know there's some minor things I could tweak(probably won't, too happy with the Core-X fight and don't wanna screw it up), but is it entertaining to watch?
Well, right now it looks to me as good as a 100% Fusion run can possibly be.

It is possible to stuff two or more audio tracks in OGM and MKV containers. Say, the first would be MM3 (left channel) + MM4 (right channel), and the second would be MM5 + MM6. I also believe that it was already discussed somewhere…

But I saved about 600 frames in the Death battle. In total it's more than 3200 frames (if you want to know it correctly, I left Death room with Skula 3212 frames earlier).
Actually not. You leave the room at frame 38043, Atma does the same at 41255 — the difference is 3182 frames, which is ~53.03 s. :)

My only problem is: How can I calculate damage? I know some things, and I tried several formulas but nothing worked correctly.
Have you considered that every weapon has a certain "element" which may affect its damage against certain types of monsters? I tried to calculate this myself but didn't find anything really useful (on monsters with seemingly equal defense and no specific elemental weaknesses/tolerances, Soma's attack deals different amount of damage, and I don't know the cause of it). EDIT: Alright, finally found it. It was the only FAQ that mentioned the formula, and coincidentally was the last one I checked.

Of course, skipping the mandatory missile pack (also known as "bob") requires some very exceptional reflexes and hardly possible in realtime.

No, that means a TAS with considerable speed/entertainment tradeoffs (with top priority given to entertainment). Both Dragonfangs and TDK have already done such runs (0% and 100% respectively). You can find both of them there among the stickies.

For a game like SMB3 to surprise people? I have hard time trying to imagine such a thing…

That's a loss, though. :\ This run had a lot of entertaining moments all in all, especially in the waiting sequences. And boss fights were so good that it didn't even look like it was the hard mode. Damn Fusion. :\

Probably something like Doom? Autoscrollers mostly are out of the question, unless you can find something especially spectacular and rather short (or at least not boring) at the same time (Star Fox probably is one of the kind, and it also checks the percentage of the killed baddies), so are the beat 'em ups. Generally, games where you can only kill at point blank wouldn't be too cool to watch, either.

Very impressive Death fight, man. O_O But why haven't you backdash-dodge the sickle the second time? It didn't look like you couldn't, unless it works only when dashing to the right… Also, when leaving Death's room to take the Skula soul, it looked like you could have done that a couple of frames earlier. BTW, already 53 seconds ahead! These new improvements saved even more time than I had predicted, way cool.
