One thing I noticed that stopped the desyncs, when watching it in Read-Only, is saving while it shows Shang Tsung climbing the tower (where it shows who I am going to fight next). Let me know if that is a hoax or not.
I've found nearly the same thing on my own, but I think it works better when the screen goes black after a fight and no button is pressed. I've managed to watch it as far as the beginning of your battle with Kitana (1st round), but I can't find a way to continue it further no matter what I do. Baraka just swings his blade at the left part of the screen, then jumps and Kitana grabs him in her stun waves.

I'll be doing a combination to morph and it will work on this certain frame but sometimes when I reload and do it again exactly the same on the same frame it doesn't work!? This is getting weird. Nevermind it seems to only happen if I am using turbo and it misses a frame when it shouldn't.
It seems that either the game engine is so buggy that it doesn't catch the input every time, or Snes9x's emulation of this game is bad. Or something like that.

Well, it certainly would, because in that case there wouldn't've been any walls that could hold you back, so given the specific engine constraints, it would look more like passing the checkpoints (= metroid locations) in the shortest arbitrary order, disregarding everything that lies between. I'd say it could be done in well under 25 minutes.

This one is really ugly, y'know. ;) However, seeing both glitched and unglitched runs is the option I'd choose.

Well, don't be discouraged too soon. 3800 frames in two hours isn't even a bad result per se. Normally, such games can take months to finish. BTW, the final movie length should get somewhere around 150000+ frames. If you'll work on it for ~2 hours every day, you'll finish it in two month or so for sure.

By the way, guys, why won't you gather all the useful tricks, glitches (especially the recently discovered ones) and memory addresses, and make a descriptive trick-page like this one, for example. Having them in common knowledge never hurts.

From the top of my mind (and my HDD), in no particular order: Cube (this movie depicts one of the most carefully and elaborated atmospheres ever created in a movie); Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (I don't have much to say on this one, but it sure is quite educating, in many senses); Tetsuo / The Ironman (everybody must watch this… at least once); Eraserhead (probably the scariest movie I ever saw); Interstate 60 (while looking a bit casual, this movie actually is incredibly… hmm… wise); Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (was one of my favourite movies when I was a kid); The Thing (a rather underrated movie, though really impressive in almost every aspect); The Matrix trilogy + Animatrix (not very original in its idea and symbolism, but very good nonetheless); Monty Python and the Holy Grail (probably the funniest movie I ever saw); Once Upon a Time in America (a movie that is spectacular in one aspect: you will notice new details each time you watch it, a very rare quality); Terminator 2 (thanks for reminding, atro city; this is one damn good action movie). As for the anime, if it even counts: Neon Genesis Evangelion / The End of Evangelion (I don't think a simple description would do it any justice); Princess Mononoke (touching and beautiful, though it is a common description for any of Miyazaki's movies); Spring and Chaos ("a unique biographical sketch of the life of the great modern Japanese poet Kenji Miyazawa"); Dead Leaves (best action movie ever!); Azumanga Daioh (incredibly funny); Now and Then, Here and There (I almost wept over the last two episodes; very emotionally intense); Excel Saga (another totally hilarious anime, a must for everyone). [Another space intentionally left blank].

Do you even need Laevatain then? You could get Longinus's spear (which is +102 ATT, while Laevatain is only +64 ATT) for Balore fight, though I'm not sure if it will be significantly better (if better at all).

What, less than three weeks?! That's pathetically fast! You should have spent not less than half a year on such a run, shame on you! :P

Excellent game, flawless run, insane speed, and even more. Probably my favourite Sonic TAS (and the only one that for sure is going to get 9 for entertainment from me). Thanks a lot.

Mario Bros 1 only knocked off a frame.
The run you're probably talking about was an improvement over the existing one. There's no point in having a longer run if there's a faster one in the same category.
AKA wrote:
A sequel TAS cannot knock off half a second off every stage when the previous one was already considered good.
Well, no surprise here. I perfectly understand why you couldn't make a significant improvement, I myself know what means "improving JXQ's run". :)
AKA wrote:
Not liking the bonus stages is fine, but to answer the question as to why you need such a run. It exists because it collects all emeralds and not to directly compete against JXQ's run.
Honestly, these emeralds mean nothing to me. They are no more entertaining than the actual levels, and the actual levels don't differ from JXQ's run that much. Again, watching this run specifically for bonus stages is definitely not for me. Hence the meh vote.
AKA wrote:
I did lower the timer on Star Light 2 you know. Its just conicidental that I could directly compete against him on certain stages.
I know. But if not for the bonus levels, watching a 21 minute run to witness 48 frames of improvement on Star Light 2? Hardly a motivating reason…

Did you look at the table? I improved over a seconds worth of stuff.
:D You improved over a second worth of stuff (hardly a significant amount for a non-improvement run), but also crammed in over 2.5 minutes (!) worth of stuff which hardly can justify the distinct category. With this over a second improvement, it seems that the only reason to watch this run specifically is the bonus stages, which kinda suck per se. By the same reason it can't obsolete JXQ's run. Why would I (as I can only say for myself) need such a run?

While the run itself is indeed of top quality, I have two serious issues with it: 1)
LagDotCom wrote:
Sonic 1 is kinda dull to watch
2) I don't see any additional value in having the bonus stages complete, as they are not interesting at all (at least for me), and all the rest is pretty much the same as in JXQ's run, with some minor differences. I would have voted yes if this was an improvement over JXQ's run, but a new category solely for the bonus stages?.. I'm sorry, but I have to vote meh as well.

Right, it's faster. BTW, I checked pirate_sephiroth's glitched any% run, and he used the same trick there. Shame on you for noticing it earlier. (Shame on me for not pointing it out earlier.)

Oh, so it was the attack method? Then yes, it probably is faster than the usual, but I'm not sure. Have you done any tests? BTW, what is the latest place where you can find a spoiled milk before fighting Lubicant?

Shroob-Omb, I think you should reconsider placing spaces before punctuation marks in your sentences. It looks horrid the way you do it, please stop.
