Well, if you can incorporate all the known tactics to make it better, then by all means, do it! I'm eagerly awaiting such a run and I think it will have a pretty decent rating if done right.
Indeed. The best thing would be to gather all the useful info from other players and their works and see what you could do with it.
Probably. Just make sure you won't get an additional level up before the Creaking Skull fight.
The right people to ask would probably be Atma, pirate_sephiroth and Zurreco (as all of them were engaged in making AoS runs at some point). A good way to reach them is the IRC channel (#nesvideos at irc.freenode.net). Good luck on your run.
Sylvester Stallone would be proud of this game....... not! Killing wasps and baboons and that guy taking a dump, and… what's that big face doing there? Decent run, poor game choice — yet again. Voting meh.
Though the music was kinda neat.
[EDIT]
Probably so. But it is advisable to correct the mistakes so you could introduce a movie that is better in both technical and entertainment aspects. Or else you may encounter problems submitting it, cause there are so many spots for improvement (with not using pirate's travelling technique probably being the main of them). Besides, nobody's rushing you to complete the run, so you may take all the time you need.
I think it is allowed. Though I don't know if it's a good idea not to take damage (though it may be, as pirate_sephiroth's runs do that anyway; the point here is to make your run look different).
Now, time for the criticism. :)
1. After taking Gravekeeper soul, you move not in the fastest way.
2. Somewhere around frame 28000, I think it would be more advisable to jump on a platform (instead of swimming under it) at the first frame possible, take a boost there and only then proceed into the next room.
3. You waste a lot of frames killing the second werewolf around frame 31500, as you won't gain a new level before Death, anyway.
Oh no, please, not rapidshare! We have a specialised hosting place for emulator movie files, here: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php.
I'd watch but I can't access your movie yet.
Depends on the "depth" of the slang, actually. "Bablo" is a derivative from "babki", and pretty much all the other "common" slang words have at least one or more derivatives, it's just too inconvenient to transcribe or transliterate them here.
Yeah, that's what I thought of… I hate these doors, honestly.
Oops, that is what sleepless nights pay you with. D: I forgot the time for his run was 01:13:10, not 01:10:37. At least 37 seconds is a feasible goal in my opinion, though it might not be reachable with the current knowledge.
I just spent a whole night trying to optimize JXQ's Ceres station (the part before Ridley) and managed to save three frames, yay (although it seems that I'll certainly lose all of them during the escape which involve a whole mess of [pseudo-]random factors). And I'm also sure that it is possible to save 1—3 more frames in that area by extremely precise door manipulation (that probably would require sub-pixel precision; may as well be feasible only using a very carefully programmed bot).
Correcting all of JXQ's mistakes, however small they be, may drop the time to 01:10:10 or so, perhaps even lower with some possible route changes involving ultra-short charge. Who knows, maybe some day we will even see a 01:09:xx 100% run…
But hell, I've got very hard time hunting down those frames (heh, JXQ surely does his part extremely well) — on the other hand, now I know of a dozen places to use that trick and save a frame every time Samus falls near walls, ledges or other objects that she could bump her head with. Funny, but both JXQ and Saturn knew of that trick and used it occasionally, though it could be used almost everywhere along any possible route.
Nothing serious — I just couldn't grasp the vulnerability/invulnerability pattern and the exact place to hit it in its second part.
Ah, that's why I thought so. Well, personally, I'd go for in-game time since it's more impressive to see each level beaten as fast as possible even though the amount of time spent inbetween will turn out greater, IMO.
EDIT: Wow, 3 unnoticed typos in one short post. I break my own records!
Why not? Hack0r is such a cool name! Much like *sigh* Killer or even Destroyer! :D
By the way, my first nickname was Soulhunter (which actually wasn't that bad but sounded somewhat weird, if not just half-assed, here in Russia).
Uh, it may be some arcane version you're using, but at least 3.60 gives me a "cannot open <blah> another process <blah>" error. And I believe I got it while using older 3.x versions as well.
As for the movies, both of them look very sweet to me (probably because I'm familiar with GBA Sonic games only on a basic level to say anything else). Boss fight looked somewhat strange, but knowing your persistence in frame hunting, I believe it actually is perfect. :) Looking forward to the rest of the run once you finish deciding what character combination is the best (too bad you can't change them before each act).
Hey, concerning the multitude of new and unforeseen tricks you pulled in just ~15 minutes of in-game time, Michael Flatley would be proud of you as well! :)
I was watching the video three times in a row with a smile so wide and happy that my mother thought I was sick.
I couldn't agree more with Hero of the day — this continues to be my most anticipated run (aside with the any%).
Hmm, on the contrary, CoreAVC supplied with K-Lite Codec Pack causes massive A/V desync on my system, while ffdshow works perfect. I guess it's a matter of luck. %)
