These new possibilities and how you take advantage of them make this run look even cooler! Keep on the quality, that Nightmare fight and your flight through Sector 5 corridors were extremely impressive. :)

When I attempted to do this for the first time, it took me about 10 minutes with savestates/slowdowns, so the guy clearly is on the wrong forum. :) BTW, folks at m2k2 already have quite the same movie embedded on their site's speed tricks section, so there's no need to do that not frame-perfect at the very least.

Hmm, I believe I've tested every possible shortcut when I beat this game on my SNES (I wish I had a PC with Snes9x on it back then, heh), but it was, like, 12 or 13 years ago, so I don't remember a thing. :\ Still, I would be happy to see a TAS on this game, though I admit this is extremely difficult work. I fear, 100000+ rerecords is a bare minimum…

Hey, when I fought Nightmare for the first time, I just spammed him with missiles and, well, that's all. The same with Ridley. On the other hand, that wasn't even close to 0%, so I'm eager to see these fights too. :) Current WIP is excellent and seems to be frame perfect (or at least near frame perfect), great work.

89 frames already? Awesome! :D But how did you manage to improve his score that far? It sounds near impossible… :?

Somebody please correct the typo in the submission text: "Filename of the ROM used Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (U) (V1.0).smv". I suppose there should be "smc".

Yeah, it seems so. I tried different emulators and rom versions, but it's all the same. It sounded great on my SNES however. :) The Genesis version is a viable alternative, but… you know the general difference between SNES and Genesis hardware capabilities, right? :\

What I always loved about this game is that it utilizes Genesis's rather poor graphic subsystem to the max, providing stunning effects, beautiful pseudo-3D backgrounds and great color transitions/reflections on par with the best SNES games (and sometimes even better). I would be very glad if this run is accepted. I give a yes vote cause the run is very well executed, though I happen to see some doubtful moves alongside the game, especially in the first 1/3 of it, but I'm too sleepy right now to carefully search through the whole movie so let it be.

LOL, nice one. %) Actually, this particular song is extremely nonrepresentative concerning the earlier Laibach output, which is mainly pure industrial to industrial rock — the style that spawned such bands as Rammstein; here's a 30-sec sample to illustrate what I mean (pay attention to both…uhm… his vocals and the background choire, as they sum up to something entirely pathetic!). BTW, have anybody checked out their music videos (especially for "Geburt Einer Nation")? That's the most hilarious shit I've ever seen in my life, honestly. Every single person with a decent sense of humour just cried while watching it, cause it's that, that pathetic and dumb.

Ok, this site hosts something less than 300 movies, do you expect all of them to have enough seeders? I don't think so. People also delete those movies sometimes, yeah. Though 320 GB is an overkill, the maximum you need is about ~60 GBs, no more (and that is about two to four times current movie collection, estimating from the average movie size).

Well it doesn't always seems to work how it supposed to, I fear. Try opening Laibach station and see what will this thing toss in there: all sorts of electroclash/futurepop/EBM/something dancey/whatever else but nothing in Laibach style. :D Still, it looks promising somehow.

Bad dump maybe? I've applied it to the "JU [!]" rom, and it works ok. When it came to item acquiring puzzles, this hack surprised me pretty much, but the level design (I mean the aesthetic component here, not functional which is ok) is worse than original, IMO.

Aphex Twin is the strangest shit I've ever heard
Yeah good old Aphex is one of a kind, hehe. BTW he is also one of those responsible for the whole IDM concept. Too bad he stopped evolving some five years ago… Everything he does now is pretty weak compared to his 90's output. BTW, if you want some more high quality "strange shit" music, check out mid to late 90's Autechre albums or Coil's Musick to Play in the Dark volumes 1 & 2 (or basically every band from my IDM/Industrial list, though not all of them are appealing to the vast majority of the listeners; it's just me who likes experimental music). Kinda weird yet very atmospheric stuff.

I'm curious, why does it seem like all the Europeans are into death metal and the like?
I think it's because some North Europe countries (e.g. Finland) spawn an immense amount of Metal artists which output is of considerably decent quality (I think it's the most perspective genre of music for that geographical region).

Last three years I'm mostly into freestyle/experimental genres and styles of electronic music, namely: • [Experimental] industrial — my favourite artists here are Throbbing Gristle, Nurse With Wound, Coil, Current 93, Einstürzende Neubauten, early Skinny Puppy and so on; • IDM — my favs are Autechre/Gescom, Boards of Canada, Gridlock, Aphex Twin and µ-Ziq; Toytronic is a promising lable to try too; • Progressive Rock — mainly Pink Floyd and Tangerine Dream of the 80's; I want to investigate this genre further this year, aiming at such artists as Popol Vuh, King Crimson and Can; • Progressive (or maybe Classic?) electronics — I mean artists like Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre, Pete Namlook, Klaus Schulze and early Tangerine Dream; I just don't know how else to call them; • EBM/Electro-industrial/Futurepop — sometimes I feel an urge to listen to the more beat-oriented stuff; the names are Front Line Assembly, In Strict Confidence, Assemblage 23 and so on; • Industrial Metal — mainly Nine Inch Nails and KMFDM; • Tracked music, Game and Demoscene soundtracks — hehe, this is the essential part! :D OC Remixes and Zophar's collection of console game music are nice places to go; As for the rest, I'm pretty omnivorous in terms of my music taste, and sometimes listen to different sub-genres of Noise, Alternative, Classic Rock, [Dark/Psy/Classic] Ambient, Glitch, Big Beat, Synth-pop/Darksynth, Dub, Modern Classic, Musique Concrete, even some kinds of Jazz (I don't like it very much though) and much much more. What I really don't like is the intention to sacrifice one's individuality and personal style in favour of being more mainstream, to make more money. Like Peter Christopherson said, when a musician loses the belief in what he does, he becomes a product.

I think you are confusing the wait time before the bomb room door closes with the amount of time it takes doors to close in general. I doubt this is changed, or it would severely affect gameplay between the versions.
Well let's say the door must do four frames of opening animation when shot, before it can be entered running or with a horizontal superjump. In the NTSC version, you can do it fairly easy cause while you're moving at a constant speed, door opens a bit faster (it is very noticeable in those parts where you need frame-perfect or near frame-perfect moves like doing a horizontal jump towards the door of the Wrecked Ship), while in PAL version those four frames will make you bump into it on the last one of them. [edit]BTW, I remember people at metroid2002 discussing that jump somewhere on their forum.[/edit] I assume door closing is the exact reverse process. Well even if the main reason of your ability to escape Torizo is longer latency period before the door starts to close, roughly the same calculations apply: while Samus is moving with the same overall speed, all the fixed in-game animations and latencies act 16% slower, thus making it possible to skip or glitch through some of them. At least that's how I think of it.

Will be so much time get lost? Skip a complete Boss is too some time which will be saved at the other side. Has someone already try it and make a TAS from the PAL Version? Is the PAL Version so much slower that I can't skip a complete Boss?
You can skip Torizo only because the door opens and closes after a fixed number of frames disregarding the version. It also means that you cannot fire and then do a horizontal superjump to a next room in some places only because the door won't have enough time to open when you arrive there.
