I know what you mean, but I just figured I could use my friends to fetch me whatever I need on the internet. :D Then again, it's probably not that good of a decision because after ~60 the life is going to become a true horror of horrors. (Suicide is an option.)

So if I'm finding the run acceptable based on a cut version I should automatically find it unacceptable based on the uncut one? You're probably constructing this argument wrong. What I think you wanted to say is "if you only find the movie acceptable when you're watching the cut version, it can't be counted as a yes vote".

Well, I can understand parallax scrolling to be a difficulty when the layers are very close or within the macroblock boundaries (which really breaks everything), but, say, clouds moving at different pace is not a problem since they are so far apart. Guess I'll just give it a shot and see what can be done about it.

Wow, those are mighty fast snails. :o I was better opinion of Psygnosis's level design. It looks like "we drew all these boring objects, let's make them move towards the player as he runs through long straight corridors". Meh. Good run, though, and it's a yes vote. Btw, I watched Omni's encode, and while I don't have any qualms with its video quality, I don't understand what in particular makes this game hard to encode. The indoor locations are all static as hell, and the outdoor ones only have parallax scrolling in the bottom 20% of the screen. Two years ago I proved it was possible to make Gunstar Heroes — a much heavier to encode game — look excellent at 500 kbps, there's no reason for this to look worse after so many useful improvements in x264.

In the emu. It's also a bad thing if you don't have much patience, please improve. You'll need it for TASing, anyway.

Hardware acceleration (aka "Use video memory") should be on.

Impressive luck manipulation. The game is bad but the movie is short enough for that not to be a bother. Besides, we only see what is the sole interesting part. Voting yes.

These looked like a pair of breasts in the game. "You beat the game, huh? You may now jerk off to celebrate."

I don't like the "come on" part. I watched the video with the script because I don't fancy the idea of pressing ctrl+right a few times every couple minutes. I've already seen the score tallies and special levels from other runs. These parts were factored in my appraisal of the run. I really don't see how it's wrong to publish two encodes with this in mind. That is, in case it gets published at all.

I suppose you could also shorten the solution from the end of the level; that is, moving the last reference point to a guaranteed optimal position closer to the beginning. Though I guess you've already done that.

Starred runs for lesser-known games or special achievement movies where some or many of the aspects of TAS-making are especially prominent (exceptional and apparent luck manipulation, or something like that), http://tasvideos.org/Movies-RatingY.html for the rest.

I was out of the internet for a few days and didn't realize this was submitted. But what is genuinely pleasing is that you submitted it on my birthday. Seriously, could I get a better present from TASVideos? Unlikely. I am grateful. :) I am a bit jaded by this point, but some moments were jawdroppers even for me. I was especially surprised at the thing you did at 20:31 in the .avi, because I didn't even know that was possible. Awesome. A note to Omni: you should probably have let Saturn have his way with the encode, because, frankly, video quality deserved better (especially considering this movie was to have rating this high). And that ugly scanline that is a Snes9x 1.43 bug didn't even have to be there, either, and Saturn pointed that out as well. I won't ask the file to be replaced, but keep this in mind.

Well, there are people who don't know what RSS is, yet pretty much everybody knows what Twitter is.

I have mixed feelings about this run. For one, it doesn't really seem less glitchy than Nitsuja's first movie — and certainly more glitchy than SprintGod's more recent one. As such, there wasn't that much original content with this goal choice because it's like a mix between SprintGod's Sonic solo and Upthorn's Hyper Knuckles for pretty much the entire duration. I didn't take much time to figure out what exactly horizontal position underflow is, because I still saw you zipping in pretty much every direction, except more rarely. For me, that looks very arbitrary. I can't say I didn't enjoy the run — I did, and much so — but I don't consider it a good goal choice for the third movie slot for S3&K. Completely glitchless non-hyper Sonic solo would likely be a much better choice, because it actually shows as much of the levels as possible in a TAS, and in way more original (I'd even say hard) ways as well. This movie is entertainig and well-made, but I vote no. :\

I nominate MDK, although you'd be far better off with a PC version. There are also Gradius Gaiden, considered by many to be the finest classic Gradius game, and Raiden DX, considered by many to be the finest classic Raiden game. :) There are a couple Treasure games for PS1, although I can't say if they're any good.

This game surprised me in a number of positive ways, including but not limited to decent (especially for a franchise-based game) music selection and graphic violence: meowing cats exploding in fountains of blood is not something you would expect from a SNES-era Nintendo game. The TAS was pretty cool, although I wondered if the underwater areas could be optimized further.

Oh yeah, that's exactly what I'm talking about. D: A big drop in entertainment for me.

I'm not sure I see a lot of sense in making everything die a lot slower. That will hurt the flow of a speedrun in my opinion.

First things first. This run was a treat to watch, it has impressive ammo management, and is otherwise well-made technically. It's an absolute yes vote for publication, and it does look great from the get-go. However, the game's entertainment potential hasn't been exhausted yet. A 2P run with a more interesting goal choice than aiming for fastest time should be made to improve upon this in the future.
